Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

Can someone with a PS4 invite people with a Vita into a party and use Share Play to broadcast gameplay to their Vitas or no? That woukd be fucking amazing for my non-new gen friends and family.
 
I now have every theme available. Still can't get the find more themes to work on my main UK account, but got the ones from the US and JP store (including dat premium one).

Only issue with doing this is it can make your dashboard take a little extra to load while it makes sure you can actually run it, it would seem. Not a bother for me though, since I have to wait to play my US games anyway, but it may bother a couple of people.

They didn't say they thought the apps they don't use should exist, just that they should be able to delete (or at least hide or put into folder) the ones they don't want.

Sony just sucks at OS design and lack of customization has always been an issue for a lot of people with their recent OSs. Though with the Vita having folders I'm shocked the PS4 still doesn't. It's a cluttered mess still, especially for those of us who use it for nothing but games.

This happened to me as well. I am not going to use stand by any more after this. I had to unplug it from the back of the console and of course when I turned it back on it gave me the 3rd degree about it.

I saw people talking about ejecting the disc. I may give that a shot but since I only own 1 game on disc it sucks that I have to take it in and out every time I want to play it.
 
Seems like the YouTube connection server error is fixed but it won't remember my sign in. Keeps asking me to sign in over and over. I'm sure this had been covered in the thread somewhere. Any one know any updates on this?
 
So far the update has worked wonderfully smooth for me. Had no encounter with the rest mode bug, my Gold headsets are perfectly okay, and my friend shareplayed FIFA 15 with me for two hours with very minor lag (magical stuff, will also enjoy COD AW next week!)

The only issue I've had is continually having to face scan when I boot up like its lost my profile which is a bit annoying. A great update nonetheless, now waiting on friend notifications, suspend/resume.

Yup had that same problem twice yesterday. Ended up having to hold the power button for a few seconds to make it do a hard reset...gonna just shut it down completely from now on till that's worked out...
 
update was working fine for me. used youtube, some games, played a full game of 2k15 over shareplay with a friend who owns the game. even put the ps4 into standby/rest twice during the day. but last night when i put it into rest mode it locked up with the blinking orange light.

i noticed others had mentioned that they plugged their DS4 into charge at the time, i did the same. could this be related to the issue? I definitely plugged the DS4 into the ps4 while it was actively going into rest mode

I stand corrected;
PS4 not responding this morning
Power button does not respond to press
Eject button beeps but does nothing
Controllers do not power it on, wired or wireless
Phone App does not see system
VITA can not find system
A disc is in the drive, thought it worked last night with one in
I did disable USB power before stand bye, but not likely the issue
Tried pulling all chords BUT power chord, no changes

Held down power button and system eventually turned off, restarted with power button and system did a disc check and warned me of improper shut downs causing harm.

System did not need to resynch controllers, everything back to normal after restart.

Attempted rest mode again, system responded to controller after doing so.

Appears to possibly relate to extended rest mode time, possibly auto start for system checks and uploads also.

Running test this morning, system in rest mode now, solid orange light, light fan on for now. Will see if fan turns off and if wake for check occurs and then leads to possible lockup.

Recommend all users stop rest mode until Sony fixes issue or risk bricking.

*UPDATE* System went to blinking orange light after 5 minutes, hold down power to unfreeze, powered on with controller, disc check and everything ok again.

Running test 2; ejecting disc and going into rest mode

wow that entitlement. If you want a complex OS get a pc or an xbox - i read that has two or three. Ps4 i just want it to launch games, everything else is a bonus. Rather than spend money building up a new os team so you get some cosmetic things faster, they should concentrate on their cloud / server infrastructure.

ive had this bug hit me a LOT
sometimes the xbm(or whatever) just doesnt load properly and you cant hit down on any of your games. i usually fix it by going into another menu and then back out. like into the store
 
Update caused zero problems on my console, everything is smooth and fast even messages.

I wish I could stop a stream rigth after I close it but is not a super annoying thing.

Of course I don't use Rest Mode myself ever so I think Im avoiding the issues that are right now probably.

That waves and ship moving theme is sick as hell, love it.

its nothing to do with entitlement, that was a hell of a reach.

PSN has been working like its being powered by hamsters in wheels for well over a month now, and every time there is an update things seem to go even more tits up.

But yeah, fuck me wanting a steady service that I pay for...

'get a PC or an Xbox' did you seriously type that?
 
update works flawless now. no problems so far. sorry to hear that some of you still have troubles. psn is stable, the os is 50% faster, mp3 player is godsend, youtube working like it should, themes are available and looking good, share play is the only thing that i haven't tried yet. (stupid region lock)

all in all a very good update. Sony promised, Sony delivered.

It's so great that mobile GAF didn't send any of my PMs in this thread and the other thread as well for today and yesterday =D

I know it's not really contributing to the thread but I had to let the steam out.
 
Guys, do we have any solid info/testing on remote play improvements at all?

I've heard it's massively improved PS4 to PSTV but it would be nice to see comparison.

Same with Vita, I've been playing destiny a while on my vita, and since the two updates I'm sure the image quality has improved, i can't see compression at all ( unless the signal goes weak ) and I'm positive the lag has improved.
 
How's anyone else's experience with the usb music player? I tried two different SanDisk sticks and nothing showed up on the ui. Do I need to create a ps4 folder on the stick and then a music folder inside it?

edit: nevermind, just found the answer in another thread.

the current team moves at a glacial pace

the OS is still missing very basic features after a whole year

it makes sense to have them based in markets where the console is being most heavily used

finally communication, its vital for them to have their ear to the ground, the problems we're hearing about after every update would mean a faster turn around.

Yes. Create a folder called music on the stick and put music in it. It should show up on the menu bar once you put it in the USB slot
