Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

there no "update worked, no issues" category.

Since 2.00 update i tried several times the rest mode, everything worked like a charm, but not this time.

I turned off the TV and due to the HDMI links the console put itself in rest mode. Guess what? yellow blinking led.

Also, just to be clear, there no need to plug out the cord. Just press the power button for lot of seconds, this will prompt to you a warning messages the during the next boot, but at least will not cause any system storage control etc

Does anyone tried to disable Internet connection, USB Power, and Remote Activation in rest mode?? I did that and it seems to work now.

Sorry for the live updates...but when I took the disc out...and went to rest mode...orange line wasn't pulsing....I was able to turn it back on with the controller. .

After it turned back on and went to the main menu.... After a few seconds, IT COMPLETELY TURNED ITSELF OFF...OFF OFF....NOT STAND BY/REST. .. D:

And now I can't turn it on with he controller....had to push button. Fuuuuk this...I'll just try that safe mode thing posted earlier later tonight...and stick with shutting it down each time...

When it turned back on (Thank god it did) it went through the same rebuild stuff like the previous issue.

Hi,

If your PS4 comes back up after your update with out any problems, and you want to be safe make sure when you shut down your machine, do not put it in stand by mode " “Rest Mode.” and you should not have any problems.

If not press the power button for 20-30 seconds and it will shut down and when you turn it back on it will rebuild the database and then when you shutdown do a regular power off and not the Reset Mode.

Thanks for the info :)

OK, seem to have a new issue. My Destiny video captures seem to be playing back at 1.50X Normal speed. No idea what's going on.

Looks like they're borked when exported too. Even old videos of other games. WTH?

Here's a video that has the speed messed up. Uploaded to youtube via USB and playback is still borked (borked on my PC as well)

http://youtu.be/W3ywj1zKHJI?t=1m8s

Any ideas?

It boggles my mind that after 43 pages of people saying how rest mode is causing issues people are still... using rest mode! Yes, it should work but for a lot of folks it doesn't. Don't use it for now! I mean, really, is having a small heart attack every time it blinks orange worth it?

I will say that Game broadcast under what's new is AMAZING!...I don't think there is a streaming service that works out there like that....so many live broadcast and you just go left or right, to a different streamer and it instantly shows that game.

Kind of like OnLive.... (But you were zoomed out I believe)

Used Rest mode a few times just fine and then it happened today. Held the button for 15 seconds to force shutdown. Rebooted and was treated to that 480p PS3-esque recovery screen. Everything was fine after that. It sucks that this is so widespread. What dumb problem, the feature worked totally fine before the update.

It boggles your mind that people are annoyed an update ruined a major feature that previously worked?

rest mode allows you to start a game where you left off ? I like that feature, not gonna use safe mode advice, Sony has definitely fucked it up. My PS4 blinking orange and the fan is on all the time.

No. Read what I said. Of course it should work. It doesn't. In fact, it's causing people's system to freeze up. Knowing this, why would you subject yourself to possible long term damage and a possible brick? Just wait for a patch to fix it. I dunno, maybe I'm to protective of my hardware.

Edit: example: you own a Toyota. It hits the internet that the seat belts are faulty if you drive over 60mph and make hard right turns. Would you still go drive 60mph and make hard right turns and then complain when they fail? No. Mousy people would avoid doing what is causing the harm and wait for a recall.

I'm not trying to be snarky but I just don't hey why people lay off the rest feature until it's fixed.

It didn't do anything. Back to the orange blinking light.

Come the fuck on Sony. Have they publicly addressed this yet?

Tell me, what's the difference between them knowing of the issue and trying to fix it or addressing on the internet that they are aware of the issue and trying to fix it? Their official twitter support is aware of the issue, I'm sure the ones involved in the software of the PS4 are too.

Will telling us that this is a bug on 2.0 make an update come faster?

Question for anyone who has successfully signed into their YouTube account from the PS4 YouTube app....

When you successfully link your YouTube account to your SEN (PSN) account, does the YouTube app show you your subscriptions like the PS3's YouTube app?

I can't tell whether I've signed in or not....If I go to sign in, it tells me that my account is linked but I do not see any of my subscriptions on the menu/main screen, etc.

The menu screen's first menu item still shows as "Sign In" as well. That's what has me guessing. Surely, they didn't remove support for showing subscribed content in the PS4's version of the app did they?

I think most people just like transparency and communication. It's more reassuring to hear them say "Yes, we know this is a problem. We're working on it" than to just sit there wondering if they are doing anything about it.

That said....there's enough noise on Twitter and gaming sites about the problem that I don't think anyone can possibly suggest Sony doesn't know about it. And yes they are working on it. It would just be nice to hear them say that.

Well, I got home and I encountered a pulsing orange light again... So, my mileage has varied. I am wondering if this is tied to DHCP lease timeouts ( a shot in the dark ).

The fix worked, temporarily, at least.

Once I had restarted after the update and placed the machine into the new "rest mode" only to find that I could not get the machine to start up again without pulling the power cable and letting it start.

I got it working after some time and effort. YMMV, but I'd like to share the steps involved:

1. Turn off the PS4, do not put it into "rest mode".
2. Start in safe mode. This is done by pressing and holding the power button on the PS4 itself. Hold it for 7 seconds, waiting to release the power button until you hear a second beep. Then the PS4 will tell you to attach a controller using the included USB cable.
3. Plug in the DualShock4 using the USB cable and select the third option: "Update System Software".
4. Let the PS4 do it's thing and it will bring you to the XMB when it's done.
5. Repeat step 1.
6. Repeat step 2.
7. Attach Dual Shock 4 as described in step 3.
8. Select the fifth option from the menu: "Rebuild Database".
9. Test to see if this fixes your issue by putting the PS4 into "rest mode".

If it worked you should no longer see the light on the PS4 blinking orange, it should return to a solid orange glow. Then you should be able to use "rest mode" again.

As I stated at the beginning YMMV, I've had many tell me this worked for them as it has for me, but there were easily as many responses on the Playstation support forums saying it didn't work for them.

That's a pretty terrible analogy. One involves something that can kill you and the other involves a video game system.

Peace of mind?

Playback is normal speed for me. You sure you havent messed around with the playback speed options in youtube?

So, theres no Toro theme on EU right?
Overall the Rectangular theme is the most pleasant one, but the white text kill its to me..
The paper theme is kinda busy looking, but gotta say the music is kinda catchy. It gives me NiGHTS vibes.

All they did was copy files inside a folder named music. My last iPod was an nano about 4 years ago and back then that would prevent you from playing music on the device because it had to be synced via iTunes in a folder called ipod_control or something like that. Has that changed?

When connecting an iPod or iPhone you can change an option in iTunes that lets you use it as an external drive. That way you can add a music directory which will be read by the PS4 (but not the iPod, so you're basically duplicating the data if you have the same music).

Not sure how 3 devices would show it messed up. Its ever so slightly faster then it should be. Check out the machine gun and pratorean about a min in to catch it.

Auto rifles really make it apparent. You can also hear a team mate firing a scout riffle that shouldn't be firing that fast.

I have the same rest mode issues that so many others have. I really can’t believe Sony would release such a glitchy update; they’ve really dropped the ball on this one. :/

I've just realized something. I frequently join friends through the friends list, I click on them and choose a game to join. Before the update it took about 10 seconds to show the option. Now it's instantaneous!

Got hit with the Rest mode glitch :/

Thankfully it worked earlier yesterday so I could do my usual remote downloading from work but it's a bummer. I used Rest all the time before this.

Huh, I've only been partially paying attention to the posts about rest mode. Last night I shut it down to rest mode and paid attention to it and it was still fine about 20 min later. I just walked past it and noticed the fan was going and the light was blinking orange. I didn't realize this issue was also affecting it during its wake from standby to check updates and things. Was pretty warm, I'm guessing its been on since 4am ish. I can't be the only one that gets annoyed at devices giving me condescending warnings for not shutting down properly when it was the device's fault right? haha

The difference between the two is that the latter is a situation with better customer service.

Ridiculous that people have to do this to fix something which should have never have been broken in the first place :/

I didn't have a problem yet in rest mode. After the update i played a bit of Driveclub and i shut down my ps4 totally and then i start it up again went to rest mode. So far i can still start it up now like i normally did but i will keep a eye out. Sony needs to fix this though.

From reading some posts here it seems it happens when a game(&app?) is still running/suspended when choosing Rest mode?
I guess that's why for many it worked to remove the disc because it's the last game they've played.
So "close application" would do the trick, unless someone has tried that already and it didn't work.

Not a fix but I already do it usually out of habit because it had happened to me a couple times (prior to 2.0) that the system would beep (that can't-shutdown-beep from the PS3) upon going into Rest mode when a game was running and either took longer to go into standby or restarted instantly.

Hopefully a bug caused by working on Suspend/Resume behind the scenes :P

I had that blinking orange light rest mode thing happen to me and I just unplugged the console and plugged it back in. After it scolded me for unplugging the console it works fine in rest mode now.

I don't know the answer to this either as it doesn't look like you are signed in. Also I tried to upload a video and it just kept giving error for upload but the video is o n YouTube!

wouldnt that require more space in your ipod?
