Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

Is anyone having any issues sharing screenshots on Facebook? After 2.0, I was forcefully logged out out my Facebook account and every time I try to log in, it keeps mentioning an error communicating with the server. Sony insisted that I completely reformat my PS4 and that's something I really don't want to do because I feel that it may be a firmware issue.

Nah I can't do it. It says I've linked my account in the psn linking section (where you can link facebook and Twitter) but trying to upload videos just gives me errors. I can't log in to the YouTube app either. Just says something about trying again later.

Seems like that rest mode issue is prevalent. I'm just going to avoid using it period. Has anyone even tweeted on of the execs about this? Once again the Sony silence is striking again and they need to say something. I could only imagine how large this issue of people who aren't just on GAF might also be having this issue.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.
 
Sorry I'm a little late here but is the rest mode an issue that it goes into rest mode but doesn't wake back up? Cause that's been happening to me. I had to unplug the console to get it started up again. So if I do a database rebuild it might fix it?

Yeah, that's the issue. People say database rebuild, reinstalling the software, setting the power to USB to something other than 3 hours, and more could fix the problem, but it always seems to come back. Best just turn your console off completely until a patch comes out.

Yeah, the silence is the most aggravating part. I can't remember a PS firmware update with an issue as prevalent as this. The software is straight up broken, and that's the last thing they need to have sitting out there heading into the holiday season. I feel like they should have had a fix out for this by today at the latest.

Ok thanks. I'll try that. I haven't really been playing my PS4 since the update (will be when CoD is out) so I only turned it back on once and just thought it was a random issue. Then it happened again so I figured might be something else. At least it's related to firmware. I guess I'll just do a full shutdown until we get a fix.
 
Just having youtube issues but everything else about 2.0 has been great for me. Really love that I can play music from my usb, hopefully soon next year you can save mp3 and mp4 to hdd but for now this solution is fine.

Also share play... nah not gonna happen for me. My upload is just shit as are most peoples it seems. Its so dependent on a perfect connection only South Korea or Japan would be able to enjoy the service.

It's fucking ridiculous. It's literally my biggest gripe with them. Everything is a damn secret like updating your consumers on their purchases has to go through some CIA Homeland Security clearance qualifications. Like wtf?

How hard is it to let people know that they recognize the issue, and give updates on social media to get the word out. It's so ugly that they say one thing and then that's it.. Complete silence.

I really really want them to get blasted for this stuff. I understand they are doing good, whatever, Idc but the stuff that does matter.... They are not addressing and it's full time they get some damn heat. When Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon etc, mess up, the media has a showing of articles to write about it.... So far I have seen nothing in relation to this situation on the media and they need to start messing with them. It's so frustrating and annoying constantly to see them get by with this silence stuff.
 
my ps4 crashed and turned off earlier. i was scrolling down in "what's new" and i thought it was just taking it's time to load new cards but nope totally froze then turned off. i had just finished playing a few games on FIFA.

this has happened to me twice before and i've had my ps4 since december. both happened within about a week of each other back in June. today was the third time it's happened. not had any sort of issues at all between December > June then June > Today so i wouldn't say it's a hardware problem with the ps4 cause 99% of the time it works great. It just seems that the software is buggy.

need some of them stability updates pls sony.
 
I finally got the rest mode blinking light problem too. Had to restart by holding the power button for like half a minute, didn't unplug it.

And break a whole lot of other stuff by throwing it out there without proper testing. It's not that easy to find the cause of a problem that is not easily reproduced or consistent.
 
Is anyone else having sound issues? I have zero sound from my ps4 since updating. Seriously frustrated with Sony support about this, headphones from controller work fine but has basically nuked hdmi audio output. Other hdmi devices are fine. Have tried reinstalling update, reinitialise, rebuild of database. No joy with any of them. Worst update I have ever encountered, also saying anything above 480p is unsupported but can switch manually and it's fine. Bad move Sony, this is making me lose faith in the testing behind the scenes, just throwing out a untested update.
 
I just had a random thought, does this mean we can use the custom chopper sound feature on the PS4 version of MGSV: Ground Zeroes or was that disabled because of it being unable to do it by launch and needs to be re-enabled via a patch? Just curious
 
Everything has been fine for me. I guess because I always just power down, unless I'm downloading a large file. Speaking of which, I have some big games coming up to download. But I am not even going to attempt rest mode until this is resolved.
 
I don't know where else to put this but is anyone not getting 5.1 out of the Amazon app anymore? Netflix and the System sounds are 5.1 but not Amazon. I imagine it's an Amazon problem but just want to make sure
 
did someone have this problem:

you start a game, the game fills the screen while loading and nothing happens? you hear the game music and see for example that diablo 3 picture but nothing more? had to pull the power cord..happend like once a day now. tried rebuilding the database etc.

did never happen before 2.0

^^^^^ basically. Keeping consumers in the dark with silence and vague statements is annoying. I love my PS4 but Sony needs fire put under them...

Competition is great because it keeps everyone accountable

Standby worked perfectly fine before the update. Now Rest Mode is unusable for me. Sony just keeps screwing things up and I don't get it.

Youtube uploading works for me. I put a couple of test videos up a couple of days ago.

Everytime I try to upload a video it just shows an error, no uploads to facebook or youtube for me :(

Ok, I just went to settings and Linked Services, when I clicked on this the PS4 turned off by itself, what.the.fuck...

It just told me it wasn't turned off properly blah bla blah

Do they really test this before it goes live?

I don't think it's bricking PS4s. They are just unresponsive in "rest mode" and need to be either turned off and then power cycled or you need to pull the plug and then rebuild the database.

What happens is, that the yellow LED starts flashing in standby.

EDIT: as to why this is happening regarding incompetence or not, I can't say. It seems that they've changed the standby power regulation slightly so you can power the USB for a limited time. Maybe that has messed something up in the firmware.
 
seems hit or miss on when it happens to me. just happened again to me last night but its just been the second time since tuesday.

none of the suggestions in this thread fixed the problem (rebuilding database, turning on usb power to always on, making sure to shut down all applications/games, removing disk, etc.). seems like people are just thinking something is a fix because rip mode works a few times afterwards.

sounds similar to the share button issue people were having prior to 1.75-1.76 where no one had any idea what was causing it and could not reproduce it reliably. affected some but for some reason not others. with that being said...since it was working before...sony should have at least some idea what changes they might have made since those last firmware updates to rip mode and go through them one by one for testing.
 
I can't believe this Rest Mode error hasn't been officially recognized yet. Worst part is I turned my PS4 off before the update so that I could see reactions before I downloaded it because I had a hunch Sony would fuck something up, but I got hasty and updated anyway. Never be hasty.

I also noticed some really strange artifacts on the top of dashboard when i use the boat theme or the white one and have a game running. Anyone seen this?

I find it odd that am not having most of these problems, Youtube app, messaging

My messaging was slow before the update but after a new modem and 2.00, the messaging takes about half a minute or sometimes a second to go through

Are these problems mostly common on the original launch consoles? as I have the white revised console
 
not had any issue with rest mode so far.

messaging sometimes sticks at 97% and can't connect YouTube app to Google account. ps4 froze/turned off once so far.

otherwise no issues. infact i think it's fixed the sound issue i had. when turning on my tv/ps4 if the ps4 turned on before the TV then there would be no sound. i'd have to reset the source. i think it was a HDMI issue. not experienced that so far.

1 step forward 3 steps back is how i feel about this update.

need some of them stability updates sony.
 
Still can't connect YouTube to my Google account (although oddly enough it's linked if I go into the Settings area of the PS4).

But at least switching the USB power to always on seems to have fixed the rest mode issue.
