I'm not the type to say I told you so..... oh yes I am. ;)

Yeah, but I also suggested changing what it's called, so it doesn't apply to me. ;)

And, really, even with friends, if there's something more annoying than trying to save a buck on a tip, there's trying to save a buck on a tip and using semantics to justify the act. If I was in this party, I would've followed Mike's advice of just leaving the tip myself, calling my friends "dicks" on the bill, and somehow gotten my money back through other means, like having said friends spot me beer money and just forgetting to pay it back.

You know, it's funny.

Last night I went to our local wing joint with a group of friends for the $.25 wing night.

There were 12 of us, and they broke us into a group of 8 and a group of 4.

I've been going there all summer, and for years before that as a regular customer. Whenever I went with my friends, however, we always recieved piss poor service and the manager had something negative to say to us every week. Whether he came over and told us to be quiet because we were getting complaints (when there would be 8 of us in a place full of teens because it was wing night) when we weren't half as loud as some of the people around us, or if it was one of the many times he came over to us and told us that we had to tip the waitresses because we hadn't been (which i know is bullshit, because I collected the fucking tip money from everyone).

The place is ridiculous. Once over the summer we waited a half hour before someone even came over to get our drink orders, and another 20 minutes for them to bring us our drinks (not to mention the 15 minutes after that before we got our wings).

Anyway, something similiar happened last night. As I mentioned, there were 12 of us, and they broke us into two groups. We got seated at adjacent tables so that we'd be able to talk to each other. I was in the group of 8 people. The table with 4 people at it had a waitress take their drink orders as they were being seated. Our table got nothing of the sort. The other table got their drinks 10 minutes later, and we still didn't get a waitress. Then the manager happened to be walking by, so we asked if we could get some service. The guy replied with "Shut up, or you'll be out on the pavement. We're very busy tonight. We'll get to you when we get to you." - the funny thing was, it was 9:15PM by this time, and the place was half-empty.

How ridiculous was this? after another 10 minutes, the table with four people at it recieved their wings, and we STILL hadn't had a waitress come by our table to take our drink orders. We had been sitting for 20 minutes, and no one had even come by to see what drinks we wanted. We waited anther 5 miutes, and one of my friends pulled a worker over that he knew and said we hadn't gotten a waiter yet. The kid had a waitress over in 30 seconds. By that time, I was too disgusted to eat there.

I ended up getting up and walking out with my girlfriend, and I won't be taking my business there. And I heard from my friends that the service was terrible. No one even came by to ask if they wanted refills or anything.

Someone justify the mandatory 18% tip that they had to pay last night, because I can't find any reason why anyone would want to pay a tip after such horrid service.

Eco, to put it bluntly. Any place that employs a manager that talks to a customer like that, is not worth your business. If they treat you like that, can you imagine how they treat the servers? Yes, its not uncommon for restaurants to abuse their own staff.

This case is really one of those cases that can be singled out. In fact I don't think you should walk away from this.

Let me know if this was a franchise or some singled out restaurant. In any case complain to the BBB. Seriously, don't let his fuck walk away like that. Gte this guys name at the very least. God help them if this establishment is owned by a corporate entity. Corporate is brutal in handling complaints. They don't care, legit or not or if that customer was really your ex getting back at you, they will fire almost anyone at will to the point of abuse.

What I was planning on doing was writing a letter to the owner with a bunch of signatures of people who will refuse to go there in the future.

This guy is a fuckhead, and he's been treating us like shit all summer. A lady I know has a daughter that quit working there because one of the managers was giving her a really hard time. I'd imagine it's this same guy.
