I know there's only 2 chapters out so far, but as of now it just seems like torture porn involving these kids being sexually abused. I would have more faith in this with Fumi Fumiko involved, but it seems like she's just the artist for this manga
King of Idol seems like a complete waste of a name since the first thing I thought of was King of Fighters + Idols. Which might have made for a better show.
The history of the Tower and it's systems in Tower of God are so fascinating are well thought out. Probably one of the best mythologies I've ever seen in a manga.
It's nice to have a yuri manga that's about adults for a change. (Even though the cover art makes them look super-moefied and young, especially Emi, it's not as bad in the actual art). Suprised that Viz of all companies picked this up, it doesn't seem like their usual forte.
King of Idol 1 - 7 Why are all of my favorite authors doing crossbending/gender-bend stuff? Like, this is good and i enjoy that gag of his massive erection. But this isn't my genre of choice :/
Hungry Marie 10-14 And speaking of.... this is my exact genre of choice. It's so good and it is going to get so canceled and I hate you Japan. I hate you so much right now.
Wow man, flashback there? I wasn't ready for that. Sure though. Kirishima has made insane progress, loving that guy more and more. Curious to see what made it click.
Dr Stone
Getting into it now since the last chapter and including this one. The other two disappearing from the story sure didn't hurt. After last chapter I was worried it was just gonna be Senku wowing people with common knowledge like some stock isekai manga but this chapter cleared all of that. I like it.
I'd say they've gotten it more right then wrong in the past few years. Since I've read viz jump and they've done jump starts I can only really think of HM and arguable Red Sprite that deserved to live longer then they did, and on the opposite end only Spring Weapon and Samon lived when they shouldn't. Compare that to
Mononofu died deservedly
Buddy strike died deservedly
Kimetsu no yaiba lived deservedly
Batsu daily demon diaries died deservedly
Love rush died deservedly
Amalgam died deservedly
Demon's plan died deservedly
Ole golazo died deservedly
U19 died deservedly
Poro died deservedly
RxL seems like its on pace to die deservedly as well
Or do you think any of the above dead series deserved a second chance at life?
Looks like some soft fluffy cute shit about a girl who has issues communicating with others
Like that soft shit will work on my heart colder than the deepest ocean wate-
Pfft, science may be able to explain the fundamental workings of the universe, but can it explain how the card you were thinking of ended up behind your ear? Chemistry senpai (+ her teeth) offer a refreshing perspective and should feature more often. Meanwhile, the titular senpai finds her ideal target audience.
e: Vampire-chan x Junior-chan 3
Shameless, ban this lewd filth etc. As of right now, I don't find the central pairing interesting enough to derive much entertainment from their dates. So I'm largely just reading for the yuri bloodsucking. Repeat this post for the next __ chapters.

Its enough for me to hardly care for the MC (until he does something broken lol) and that other girl and wish it was about the others (UREK MAZINO motherfuckers plus Koon).

While they are cool (Hatsu rocketed up my list as of late due to his fight in the last arc) i'm more interested in those other members that are mentioned to be linked to the tower that you either had glimspes of or nothing whatsoever. So I'm glad
Urek, Yuri, Machenny, and Gustang, etc are finally doing something.
As for Urek
i feel his story of attempting to leave the tower could be interesting but he would need some challenge right now lol. Also highly curious to hear more about those high rankers (Enryuu killing a fucking guardian is still one of the most hype things i have heard about in this series)
I do think SIU needs to do something about Baam. His initial MO was to find and reach Rachel which he has done several times. But now he has no real motivation to keep climbing the tower. Baam's just not a Naruto/Goku type who is constantly trying to find a way to improve himself. He's a bit too milquetoast right now. I do love me some Urek and Jahad princess shenanigans though. The humor is pretty spot on. Wish we would get an TOG anime even if it is just an OV.

I feel like Baam has been getting good development personally recently. Especially with him learning that whatever choice he makes is gonna have consequences, and that he can't please everyone. I think that was a good thing for him to learn. Standing up to Rachel was also awesome.
Sawamura, Kawakami, Toujou, and Kanemru delivered. i loved these two chapters s omuch, but Toujou and Kanemru was such a great surprise. Make Toujou a pitcher immediately!!!1
Ogata's a monster, what on Earth. Didn't expect that kind of flashback.
Dr. Stone ch. 18
This chapter was great. After last week's dumping a bunch of new names, I expected to not give a shit about any of these people, but Chrome is hilarious and played well off Senkuu. Wanna see more of these two getting into clown fest battles.
TWGOK - Up to Ch144
I'm thankful I began unlocking chapters in advance on MangaWan, because I've been catching up on this manga pretty quickly. The drawings are pretty great, the comedy's fun, and the way Katsuragi constantly lampshades romance tropes makes those aspects decent. It looks like the kaketama of the week formula is now being replaced with the whole confrontation between demonkin that want to restore hell to what it was before the goddesses sealed the old denizens of hell away, while it's up to Katsuragi to awaken as many sleeping goddesses as he can to thwart the vintage demonkin faction's plans.
Most characters are somewhat one-note, but there's enough of them to give some variety, and the author is also good at making sure a particular character or gag doesn't overstay its welcome.
I was initially in it since it was a boxing manga and those seemed kind of rare and it was BL, but eventually I came to love it more and more (also younger seme is always a tag I love). 24 yo Yutaka comes across 19 yo Kei who is fighting some random punks in an ally, he takes him in and gets him interested in boxing. Kei ends up needed a place to stay so he takes up the offer to keep boxing as long as he can stay in the dormitory with Yutaka, however he reveals that he doesnt really want to box so Yutaka acts like he will kick him out but Kei knows Yutaka is hiding that hes is gay, so uses that force him to make him stay while also letting Yutaka experience the things hes missed with relationships.
It ended up becoming really nice, I could have had less of Keis backstory as its kind of genre typical for how bad boy pretty boy characters background are (though it was on the extreme side), however, the boxing, Yutaka's smile and cheering, have made me want to see more of Kei's development. I love how he is changing and how is finally experience what friends and even relationships are, and he could finally experience a kiss. The first try at it was hilarious. I love the attempts at kisses but end up headbutting moments.
Kekkaishi had one of the biggest WTF endings. It really did feel like it had the axe hanging over the mangaka's head and was cut short. You saw Yoshi's progression and then
all of sudden his mother appears and is like "I'm a total cold hearted bitch and it's OK for me to seal myself away for eternity."
I do wish they would have integrated more of yoshi into the shadow org ordeal. He was kind of tossed aside there.
Another story about a nobody who gets to travel to another world. In this case, he's chosen to be the husband of a powerful ruler to have a child with her. He gets to marry and have sex by the 3rd chapter.

Sumiko is also where I identify the problem. She took accomplishments and plot arcs that ought to have been divided up between Yoshimori and Tokine. And really, having Tokine pass out and lose her legs (only to get it deus ex machina'd, of course) was a pretty lame way of ending her story. We were told by Mikeno that what Tokine was learning was arguably the strongest technique a kekkaishi could learnbut she gets largely sidelined at the end, even moreso than Yoshi.
The way Tokine's story went at the conclusion, after all the careful set up throughout the series of her becoming stronger, made me angry. It was a wet fart of a note to end her story on, I would agree with you on that. It also made the entire solution for the matter come from only one side of the rivaling families as well, the implication of which didn't set with me at all. The entire manga was showcasing how the 2 descendants were meant to be cooperate and work together to solve problems throughout the story, only in the end for that to never be what solved the central conflict?
It was a great disservice to not only Tokine as a character, but I felt it did damage to one of the series best story elements as well.
And yeah, I do still really like it. It's why I'm frustrated by the latter parts. I really like the kekkai power system and the way she built on a really simple concept; I like the characters and their relationships, and that little bit of off-beat Shonen Sunday charm that the series has, especially in the beginning. I even enjoyed parts of the later stuff. I just didn't like the way the plot recentered itself around Johnny-come-lately figures.
I can co-sign on hating how the plot ended up going that direction as well, because before that, the series was really good! The off-beat charm to me super fun, especially when the series kept to it during tense fights or fun little side adventures.
I really liked not just that there was great creativity in how they author utalised a (relatively) simplistic power (by other Action manga standards) in a really creative manner, but the history behind it through the ages and generations, and how the deuteragonists had to work together in balance in order to solve many of the problems they couldn't do it on their own.
And the deuteragonist aspect of the series was also a major pull, because (outside of how the series went once Sumiko entered the picture) this is a series of fiction where I could say that, for the majority of it, the narrative importance and of Yoshimori and Tokine is shared equally.
I don't have the Viz volumes on me on hand, unfortunately, so maybe someone who does can confirm it, but there was a volume extra that the mangaka talked about the method of how she created the cast through making each character opposite of another, and then switched them around to create different dynamics and relationships. That to me at the time was such a new and innovative way to write, and showed me that there is a lot of careful planning going into not only the character creation, but also the motivations.
I know that I realised it from reading the volume extras/commentaries, since she uses a pen name. It was pretty hilarious some of her descriptions of how certain events played out. The reason why Mudo
kept on regressing in age
was the funniest thing when she explains why she did it.

Both Yoshimori and Tokine got a raw deal once Sumiko showed up, but what
about his poor dad? Sumiko left him the equivalent of voice message telling him she never really loved him the way he loved her, and was all like ''btw imma gonna be chilling forever in a magic prison, later''.
I do understand that Sumiko was hinted to
have some shades of psychopathic behavior that went on unaddressed, but I felt that aspect should have have at least been touched upon before she hijacked the whole series for the conclusion
I really love the series, both in the manga and anime form (but I am a bit more partial to the anime, given it was my introduction in the franchise, and has some kickkass music themes). Worth a read definitely.
Holy Shit, I finally got through 8 months of backlogged WSJ issues. Thoughts on series in general (to present)
Promised Neverland
I feel this has completely lost all steam since they actually got out of the orphanage, and probably is going to turn into something I'm not going to like
We Never Learn
I DESPISE this series. All of the girls fucking suck and I can't tell you anything about them, the premise seems non-existant most of the time, The main character is boring, and the ecchi isn't even that great. Just a complete failure all-round, hope it gets canceled.
Cross Account
On the other hand, THIS is how you do a romance series. Love both characters, love the framing device of Matadon/Twitter, and Daichi reminds me a lot of both myself and several people I follow on twitter, and the echii (at least in the first chapter) was actually good!
Dr. Stone
I really like the world/premise of this series, but otherwise, this does nothing for me. I don't like the art, I think the science shit is dumb, and all the characters suck. It's at a point where it feels like a chore to read, which usually means I'm going to drop it, especially if its only a dozen or so chapters in, and it doesn't feel like i'm obligated to see how it ends (similar to me sticking with Nisekoi towards the end)
Shudan
I wish I loved this more than I do. The second chapter was EXACTLY what I wanted from this series, but the actual soccer gameplay isn't great. I will give it credit for making a "romance" series between elementary schoolers not really creepy though?
Robot x Laserbeam
Probably because I've been playing a lot of Golf games lately (Neo Turf Masters on Switch, Hot Shots on Vita, Golf Club 2 on Steam), and because I kinda have to learn golf quickly (cause I have 2 bachelor parties coming up that will require me to actually play Golf), I ended up liking this. It has just enough jargon to feel like you are learning something while not feeling overwhelming, and it doesn't hurt that all the characters are hot.
I think it's more like a person from the future cannot force the past to change on their own, but a person in the present could change their actions thus altering the future.
