A Silent Voice Vol 2-7

I couldn't stop reading after each volume. I had to find out what happened. To build friendships based on their own selfish reasons to destroying that once the motives got out there. It tooking Shoya almost dying for him to see that he just wanted to hangout with these people and not expect anything in return.

There are somethings I wanted to see happen at the end but it did leave a satisfying ending. I hoped there was going to be a conversation between Shoya and Kei/Kazuki to get some kind of closure. I guess them saving his life and working on the movie was their closure for what happened in elementary school.

My favorite character in the series had to be Yuzuru.

Not a fan of Miki and Naoka.

At the end they left to get married right?

I need to see this movie, hopefully someone will license it for NA.

Any other manga sort of like this I should read next?

I'm glad you liked it. I recommend a series called Forget Me Not, which I personally like more. It's also finished at 7 volumes. I'll link my review of the first volume, but know that it is the weakest, though still good, and it gets exponentially better with each volume https://www.taykobon.com/content/forgetmenot1

3) Which series are these?

Cheaper, faster to produce and pretty much tradition. Certain manga's release in weekly magazines where being largely black and white helps a ton.

Only read two of those so far. Claymore starts of well and then dramatically drops off in quality in the later half. Ajin is great, fun action scenes, interesting well thought out premise, A-typical character personalities and some fairly intriguing thought experiments. Heard good things about Blade of the immortal. alright things about Vinland saga but occasionally some complaints about quality consistency.

I'd add in Keyman: Hand of Judgement as a recommendation. Crime Noir detective/super hero/Lovecraftian, rollercoaster of a manga.
More Shymalan twists than a hurricane

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Third pic is Takemitsu Zamurai. Last pic is Kokou no Hito.

Vinland Saga is pretty great. Claymore has one flashback arc that I really liked, but wouldn't recommend it still.

1. Lower cost, less staff, harder deadlines, magazines

Takemitsu Zamurai (highly recommend)

Witches
dunno <- not the actual name of the series

I can throw in another recommendation for Vinland Saga. I've tried to read Ajin and Claymore but didn't like either enough to continue.

1. Making a weekly manga is very time consuming. Black and white is easier.

You do realize a good portion of series and magazines aren't weekly, right?

also, I think part of it is just that manga artists are used to working in monochrome and drawing in ink, so it's just stuck around.

Just ordered my first physical manga, Berserk Volume 1

I just kind of gotten used to the right to left style reading digitally, I wonder if it'll be harder to adjust reading a physical book that way

Your wallets going to hate you, but that's sorta impossible to avoid when:
  • There's no digital version to soften the blow
  • Trying to catch up to a long running series
  • Having the manga being published by someone other then Viz (Viz manga has a MSRP of $9.99 90% of the time, compared to $12-$18 for other publishers)

As for reading physical, can't say if it will be harder or not since by the time I started buying manga I'd read enough that I was completely use to right to left reading. The binding being opposite of western book binding should help with that regard though.

I think you'll get used to it fairly fast. The binding does help.

I recommend Goodnight Punpun if you are looking for something else as well that sort of represents a master-class of storytelling and artistic mastery of the medium

It's gonna feel really bad if Kirie loses. She was really about to lose it before Evangeline showed up because Touta broke her brain.

I'm almost wondering whether Akamatsu changed his mind how the series was gonna go after he put her in since she has like 5 times the character development of everyone else other than Touta or legacy Negima characters.

Sakomoto is a very, very good artist - but Vagabond, Me and the Devil's Blues and Otoyomegatari are at least equal.
Wow, I totally forgot about Hiramoto Akira. Definitely up there. Vagabond is great too, not really feeling the faces on the third one but the detail is stunning.
Actually, I'm definitely checking it out. The setting is different and looks interesting...

Even the spin-off for Kakegurui is doing well, I'm impressed. If only there were a way to read it outside of learning Moon.

That's probably the most sweet and polite Valentine broadcasting in fiction.

What I take from this is that Hime was first.

Boy, it's going to be a bloodbath.

2) What are the thoughts on these series?
Vinland Saga, Claymore

Vinland Saga: Good story (so far) where a protagonist, who wasn't thrilled to fight in the first place, struggles to exist in a world that doesn't share the same values he does

Claymore: Very well put together story dealing with a warrior who wants revenge, featuring a sisterhood theme that does "small-scale" well

Dunno if there are any Uraboku fans here besides me, but thought I'd post this just in case:

Après une longue pause suivie d'une reprise en août 2016, la série Uragiri est sur le point de se terminer au Japon.

En effet la fin de ce titre signé Hotaru Odagiri est datée pour le 24 mars prochain avec la sortie de son dernier chapitre dans le magazine Asuka. La série comptera donc 13 tomes en tout.

On one hand, I can't believe it's ending
cancelled, more like
. On the other, it went through a really long hiatus, so I guess it's a small miracle we got more chapters after that anyhow. Ugh, I'm gonna be a mess if D. Gray-Man ever gets a similar announcement...

It will be missed. I guess these long story writers keep having bouts of writers block.

Because this wasn't hard to follow already.
Oh...fuck me, I think I'll have to re-read this entire thing. Fell off after vol.16 and all I can remember are conspiracy theories, devil agreements and turning shit into mushrooms is really, really, freaking overpowered.

This is kinda weird transition. Like, we're suddenly jump to another war scene with almost no explanation. I seriously thought i skip a chapter or something. But yes, this scene does provide something new and show how titan was used in war and the facts that discrimination still happening.

Only Hiramoto Akira can make boner scene as majestic as this one

Is there manga with more beautiful art than Innocent Rouge?

Vagabond/ Real (Takehiko inoue is amazing) or Me and the devil blue (Hiramoto Akira the gawd) is definitely up there
1) Why is manga predominately black and white?

2) What are the thoughts on these series?
Vinland Saga, Claymore, Blade of the Immortal, Ajin: Demi-Human

3) Which series are these?
1. Mostly for cost reason, the colored one are reserved only to popular series and usually released at later date, with premium price too. Some example: Jojo Bizarre adventure, Dragon ball, Naruto receive color edition.

2.
Vinland Saga: At first it was a revenge story in historical setting, then it turn into a redemption story. The character growth and art is amazing. Though just to be clear, while the art during early volume is quite good, it only become really good at later volume, when the author switch to monthly magazine

Ajin: started out as a story about discrimination and quite gripping without hint of it turning into battle action. The OG author quit after the first volume and the illustrator continue the story, as a result, the manga become far more action oriented

Blade of the immortal: great artwork and some cool battle scene. The pacing is slow, but other than that, it's good.

Claymore: Well, i know you read berserk, so unfortunately, i can say that this is weak in every aspect when compared to berserk. Do read Angel Densetsu by the same author of this one.

Well, that neck got hung.
Yup, that butt slap is totally covering the sound of her fart.

A full colored manga serializing would be interesting but I cant imagine how much more time it takes (elDLIVE does look great, but I dont think Akira Amano has that coming out every single week?) Maybe in the age of fully digitized content we could do that, but then at that point they ought to also do fully voiced weekly serialized manga too.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
You know I didn't think Attack on Titan could get any worse but it continues to amaze me with how bad its getting. I'm basically just reading it to see how bad it will get.

That's obviously subjective. On a more "technical" (I won't say objective) level though, Sakamoto's definitely part of the very best of the best.

Anyway:

TLR Darkness 77

Uh, that's it? I don't follow the news, so that definitely came out of nowhere.
Oh well, I guess that after going from Jump to Square to show more boobs, it will move to Ultra Jump to be even more lewd, and the fourth and final part will be full on hentai.

You do realize the ones that aren't weekly usually produce significantly more pages than the weekly ones, per chapter, right? Manga artists are barely sleeping and working crazy hours as it is

I think you may have misinterpreted my response. We were talking about why manga is traditionally done in black and white. nabe answers that weekly manga are time consuming. I'm pointing out that as most manga are not released on a weekly schedule and are still in black and white, "weekly manga are time consuming" doesn't serve as a satisfactory answer to the original question.
