Probably. Besides this Zelda manga & porn I think OYSTER also did a couple of official Mario manga as well.

hmmm

The best part is she's a female. Like that Hana Hook / Yoshi Milk mangaka, a real surprise consider the nature of their prominent works.

Touch v10

the minor timeskip at the beginning was kinda jarring at first but it wasn't long until it got its groove back so it's not a big deal.

tatsuya really is a baseball sponge when you think about it

I remembering reading the electric tale of pikachu before I read the adventure series.

I remember having... weird feelings at misty when I read it, while I was at the tender age of 8.

What's up with Nintendo and the weird hentai artists.
Oyster for The Legend of Zelda and Mario apparently and there's Sanpei Kamirenjaku for Pokemon.
I think one of the Fire Emblems too, but there are a number of them, so I dunno which one.

Week 3 of the short reads club is...

2001 + 5 by HOSHINO Yukinobu
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker by OYSTER
Nemureru mori no bina by AKISATO Wakuni
Karisome no Hana by CHIHIRO Harumi
Mikai no Hoshi by MATSUMOTO Jiro

Wait, I read that one a while ago. It was by OYSTER?? Hahahaha.

What? That's pretty bizarre. So many surprises today.

4 unknown for me this week. I'm not going to read Wind Waker because apparently there's spoilers to it if you have not play the game.

Did a quick look and I have quite some expectation for 2001 + 5. It looks like a quality piece of work.

Just letting you know that it's a spinoff of 2001 ya monogatari, so if you like 2001 + 5 you should check that out too. Along with other great Hoshino Yukinobu series.

Would totally put 2001 ya monogatari on the list instead but it exceeded my own rules.

I didn't realize Transient Flower was by Harumi Chihiro who did Velvet Kiss and Love on the Job. Her art is still good, I also think the internal monologues for Transient Flower was a notch better too.

Short reads for the week are posted in OP if you forget what the reads are.

Liar Game 192

I hope the whooping Akiyama gives Yokoya this time around is at least half as good as the one he gave Yokoya in the chair game.

Is it better if I read the main series first?

Wouldn't being serialized be considered being fully employed? Not too sure actually.

No, they probably get paid via a contract and are not salaried employees. I'm just guessing here since I don't know how the job market works in Japan. I've seen plenty of authors get serialized by multiple publishers at the same time.

Huh alright. I guess it makes sense for them to be paid on a contract basis, seeing that very few become mainstays.

Is it better if I read the main series first?

Nah, do the short reads club first. :p

Also thanks for posting it up dramatis.

Not the same person, I believe. That one would be "Öyster". The super-interesting one is "Oyster".

Huh, MU claims they're the same person, but Wikipedia (jp) claims the opposite, and ÖYSTER is apparently a 4koma artist and a completely different person.

MAL and MU should probably change it then.

Especially MAL with all those covers. What if some poor kid went "oh hey I really like the art of this manga let's see who did them... OH GOD"?

In most cases an Anime helps boost manga sales. Look at Tokyo Ghoul for example which was extremely successful, but there are exceptions. Go look at Akame Ga Kill, this is pretty much why they are going filler route with the anime RIP 😵

Are you suggesting Akame ga Kill didnt boost sales? Akame ga Kill doubled its total volumes printed (all volumes) since it aired. Just because series arent making the top 50 doesnt mean they arent successful though. An example for an anime having no effect would probably be Tokyo ESP.

World Trigger seemed to have some boost or else they wouldnt be reprinting all volumes yet again.

What teenage boys do

It's super dumb but I couldn't stop laughing at some of the truly funny ones.

Too many fart jokes.

are you able to confirm if Oyster and Hana Hook are female mangka?
Hana Hook is Osada Yoshimi, right? Nope, couldn't confirm that.
(some authors, like Shinofusa Rokurō, draw themselves as women despite being male, so that doesn't necessarily mean much)

Yes, Osada Yoshimi is her handle for non-hentai work.

I should have guess given Kubo Mitsurou was drawn as a middle aged neckbeard in Waga Na wa Umishi.

Kubo Mitsurou has an amazing afterword where she has a male mangaka avatar talk some shit about how he wrote the manga, then the last page is like NO FOR REAL THOUGH I'M A WOMAN.

EDIT: Trying to find it, I know it was from Moteki cause when I read it it felt like a stupid self insert of some loser guy who wanted to be popular with women..

Found it, what an incredible afterword.

I still need to get on that, I watched the manga and still haven't transferred to the manga.

I recommend the anime because the beginning chapters in the manga have pretty bad translations. The anime is also amazing.

But yeah, guys, we need to save Jump. Pitch a shounen manga idea that will sell millions.

An average high school student dies so he has to become a ninja that reaps the souls of his pirate harem in a psychological basketball tournament on another planet.

would still probably be cancelled faster than Stealth Symphony

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Seriously, which Jump bigwig allowed Sporting Salt in the magazine? I mean, that pilot chapter was horrendous. And what I saw of the official serialization wasn't much better.

At least My Hero Academia is doing well. I liked what I read so far.

Well, at least some of the more "recent-aged" manga are doing well on the rankings.

There.

Nozaki-kun is good. I'd suggest the manga as the anime skips a few things, although some translations can be rather wonky.

Aside from Nozaki-kun I suggest you also read Hinamatsuri, Yotsuba&!, Zai x 10, Nukoduke! and Aho Girl.

Shinonome Yuuko wa Tanpen Shousetsu o Aishite Iru
Cute little story. While it was talking about novels then manga, the subject of short vs long stories early on felt kinda meta and pertained some to this whole short reading club. Ending wasn't the best but still satisfying.

Nukoduke! 46
Nukos won't stand to be pampered anymore. Won't stop them from being the cutest fucking things, though.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Shokugeki spoilers:

95 is all dialogue.

And anime Soma is voiced by Kirito. :why:

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 1-end

I can't not read a manga based on my favorite 3D Zelda game (well, it's tied with Majora's Mask). This was a bad idea though. Now I want to play it again.

The last page was unexpectedly melancholic. I really hated how that happened in the game too.
