Many religions have historically been "spread by the sword"

Not trying to turn this into a political discussion, merely a historical one. But you often hear about Islam being spread by the sword, guess what? Many religions are, including Christianity. If it weren't for colonialism and slavery, the vast majority of black people would not be Christians. Christianity and Islam are particularly violent in the spread of their faith. It would be ignorant to harp on about Islam being spread by the sword while giving other religions a free pass. It's also important to note that while today, Christian nations are much more tolerant than Muslim ones, the opposite was true during the age of the Caliphates AKA the age of Islam being "spread by the sword". Relative to Christian kingdoms for example, Jews lived in relative peace under Islamic rule. In fact, Jews fought alongside Muslims to defend Jerusalem against Crusaders, and were promptly slaughtered in their temple when the Christians took the city. And to be frank, Christians themselves were better tolerated under the Caliphate than under their own "brethren" kingdoms. They did not have to fear of being persecuted or massacred for practicing a heretical sect of Christianity like they did under Christian realms.

Knowledge is a great thing, but history is often distorted by those with an agenda. Again, I'm trying to make this a thread about historical events, not politics.

“I don’t want this to be political”… Immediately givens a political science opinion on the spread of a particular religion. You aren’t looking for a historical discussion. You’re looking for a political science discussion. Either that or you’re ban baiting.

History is inherently political in many topics in varying degrees. My point was I didn't want this to be a thread on contemporary politics, rather a thread on historical facts. If historical events are too political too you, then I apologize.

That isn’t how Christianity started or what it’s message is.

mom not sure about the others.

True, it's not how it started. But Christianity did spread by the sword.
