MapleStory: Reboot announced

Downloading again now. My AB is only 130, but I can train mindlessly for a bit. Looking surprisingly forward to this update. I already have a shit ton of mesos on my character, so as long as they don't wipe that, I'm set. I wonder if they will allow storage still to transfer mesos and items to other characters you have.

Since it's a brand new world/server, your character won't even be there. So you are not getting wiped but you can't use your character on Reboot world. And yes they still allow storage to transfer mesos but not items (since they are dropped specifically for your character)

Havent played Maplestory for ages aside from various private servers that were all infinitely more fun than actual Maplestory.

Especially after the Big Bang update i just never looked back.

I stopped playing a long time ago, i hated how on cosmetics were on a timer, and disappeared after like 3 months. That needs to change.

This is definitely interesting. I don't think it'll be enough to get me into the game, but it's cool to see them trying to get this game into a new light. I can see them drawing in an audience like this, but I wonder if they did it all too late. I tried to play this game back then but I never got very far.

They need to reboot artstyle. In grade school it was tolerable, now as n adult? Pass. Plenty of 2d mmo's look much better

It's been 10 years since I last played but I remember having a lot of fun. This looks like a pretty good update.

I looked up the Reboot patch info on kMS (they got it in the summer) and I was bummed out to see there are still 2000000000 jobs instead of the base 12ish.

Will still play for nostalgia

This will not bring me back to Maplestory this will not bring me back to Maplestory this will not bring me back to Maplestory-

DARN IT NEXON STOP TEMPTING ME.

I stopped playing when Pirate was released. I felt the game was declining with everything released past Ludibirum but the game went into a steep decline with Gachapon and buying Mesos from the cash shop.

I might hop back on for this.

Also, the discussion earlier is making me realize how perfect this game would be on Wii U if you mapped the skills to the gamepad.

Sounds like Botting: The World, but otherwise pretty cool.

I remember those hardcore 10 days I put in at the beginning of Maplestory to get the first level 70 character. Doubt I could do anything like that again, but I'll probably try this out.

If that was before Big Bang that is impressive.
It must have taken me a month to get to level 30 on my first character (A F/P Wizard).
The korean grindfests were real back then.

You could get level 70 in a relatively light day nowadays. Even easier if you're taking advantage of the weekly double xp events.

Yeah, it did start off with a week of double XP when Scania was first released, but it was still one hell of a grind. Minimal sleep/eating time, not something I'd do anymore in my older age.

I played a bit of the beta and figured out the best way to go was a LUKless cleric. Wasn't reliant on weapon upgrades, just an umbrella, so I could just grind straight up. Back then INT was overpowered, because magic attack did the exact same thing. And heal hit all of the best training spots at the time, Kerning Subway/Zombies.

It's sad how badly the game went into Pay-to-Win mode, but now that I'm reading through more stuff it really does look like this world will be a Path of Exile-style business model. I'm hyped.

I'll give it a try for nostalgia's sake but the passion I had for this game ended 8 years ago.

It's crazy how much specifically I remember from Maplestory back in 2007. It really was a great MMORPG for it's time.

Ah...In that case, I'll just get the game booted up and updated in preparation for the new update.

It's still boring. Pretty big bang sucked, post big bang sucked. The game's community is toxic still.

Who needs a community?

This is the world's best single player MMORPG.

Just dinged 181. Late game may be hell if you insist on grinding, but if you're in no particular rush the levels keep coming. I can down most bosses on the regular with no previous funding, all my characters have been built in the last 2 months.

Granted, if you're one of those people who needs to do end game to enjoy an MMO Maple might not be for you. Otherwise there is TONS of content out there to devour. After all, the price is right.

On that note, if anyone rolls a character in Scania I'll happily hook you up with a Zak Helm and Horntail Necklace when you get the levels needed. :)
Just give me more jump quests.

Please no. :(

I miss playing this back when the Cash Shop didn't exist, when seeing a lvl 70+ character was like spotting a shooting star and when lvl 60 gear was the best gear you could get. Man, those were the days. I used to play a lot with friends from school and from my neighborhood. I think I started playing less by the time they release the Aqua map and eventually quit.

Edit: I'll happily join this Reboot world if some Gaffers start playing. I probably won't be as active but I'll try to play every now and then.

I remember getting to somewhere in the 20s back in 2005 and giving up.

the grind was too real

Posting just to update - I've held the guild NeoGAF on Demethos (so GAZED) for over a year now. If people come back and want in a guild, hit me up.

Bit of a bump, but, it seems that the update will be this Wednesday, Dec 2nd. based off of their Facebook page picture for reboot.

I'm going to reboot world. I have several 140+ characters in some world but I hate the pay-to-win style and how I generally feel severely outclassed unless I throw money at cubes.

I want to try this. But I know that I really, really, really shouldn't...

Damn it. Okay, does the reboot world still have quick levelling up?

If it does, I'll play it.

Trust me. I vowed several times to never play it agaiin. But I keep chasing any opportunity to recapture early 2007 MapleStory moments, so I have to. Lol

Iunno if I want to remember all of the grinding lol, but for me, I need that closure. Closure for spending all those hours and only ever reaching level 31 (though that's probably my own fault for not focusing on one character).

I don't even care if this reboot still ends up being easy, this is a good enough excuse for me to finally hit that 3rd Job Advancement.

My friends and I played the beta back in the day (dating myself there) and got in Bera on launch day. I had the 2nd highest Crusader (behind...crap I can't remember his name now, nice guy though, I actually had some fanfic stuff written about my guy on the old sleepywood forums, hilarious). I was level 80something when 3rd job finally released and then eventually grinded to 140 before quitting. I am used to the grind and look forward to feeling Reboot.

Probably will just go right back to sader since there were only like 10 jobs when I was playing and I don't feel like learning new classes

And in the Reboot world you can buy Reboot Meso Sacks with cash which will give you millions of mesos. And with those mesos you can buy cubes. And now everyone is mad that Reboot will also be pay 2 win. What did people expect from Nexon haha.

Haha, I remember bonding with another player grinding out to lvl 30 which took weeks, or a month and change. Maybe two. Struggle was legitimately real back then.

5 P.M EST is when the server should be live. So, I expect it to be up hours after that. This is Nexon after all.

I'm going to make a Hero.

no no no I've been clean for a decade now, don't do this to me Nexon, I can't go back to doing it in the boots for the NX cash

Haha yeah I checked out the maplestory reddit for info after seeing this thread getting bumped, and apparently the new world is exactly as pay 2 win as the other worlds, except you have to jump through one extra hoop now. It looks like a lot of people here aren't aware of this.

I heard meso bags isn't in kms. It's them screwing N.A over. I will still play because there is no trading and it is pretty individualized. What whales do won't impact me.

Hahaha. Let me guess there's another catch, you can't make me so sorry unless you buy it.
