MapleStory: Reboot announced

Haha, I remember bonding with another player grinding out to lvl 30 which took weeks, or a month and change. Maybe two. Struggle was legitimately real back then.

Yeah got it took me legit months and months of grinding and party quests to get to level 44 I think? That was back when the level cap was 60, no third jobs and single player quests passed 30 were basically non existent. Map was also about a quarter of the size of the Asia versions.

Welp, the Nexon Launcher isn't working on my computer. Guess I'm gonna have to miss out on this.

Thank God for that.

I think this was the first game I played where the grind was that bad. Just hours of killing monsters that respawn continuously in the same spot. I don't know how I put up with it for a second.

Might be fun to try again for awhile for old time's sake.

I hope they still have the awesome word filter that deletes your entire chat message if it detects something rude, but doesn't understand the concept of spaces. Early during gMS beta people would try to ask people to contact them privately with whispers and wonder why it got deleted until they realized that it was because of "whisper me".

Also, one of the classes was assassin, which quickly got shortened to just "sin" for obvious reasons. Personally I just started calling them buttbuttins.

30 minutes in and I notice right away alot of big differences.

1. Finally can select eye color at character screen.
2. You do like 5 times more damage than you use too at early beginner levels.
3. Free 20 mill at level 30.

So far I'm liking it, but it's crazy how much easier the game has gotten. 20 mill to a new level 30 player back in the day was like hitting the lottery, but I guess they're doing it to establish the market quicker.

I recall when level 30 took a good couple days of hard work to get to. Kerning PQ's and all.
Any estimate on how long it would take with this new server? Could you get there in a few hours or has the game been changed to the same difficulty of ye ol' 2008?

Been so long since i've played maplestory, enjoyed what I did get to play before that maintenance just came up.

I also noticed some other characters have a couple hair colors to pick so thats nice too. There is no market on reboot server since no trading, if that is what you are talking about. The free 20 mill is nice to be able to purchase some stuff from that one vendor selling character slots, item slot expansion, etc.

Level 30 would take like 1-2hours. I think even certain jobs pretty much do story quests straight to level 30 and then let you do whatever. Pretty nice thing if you click on the maple guide at the top left it can teleport you to a recommended training area.

Still haven't had a chance to try it. Maintenance still up :( I am listening to a playlist of old MS music on Youtube, though, and man. I still believe this game had some of the best music ever.

Judging by the amount of different people that played MS, I think we should start a Maple Story 2 news master thread.

Who is with me!?
