March 15th: Wednesdayton confirmed!

The way people keep on saying it wont just be PS3 kind of brings up the redesign for PSP rumor into my head....

PSP....SP?

Just hope we get something....ANYTHING about PS3 and ill be happy as a clam.

Well we don't have to wait long to find out - only 21hrs until it begins.
More before we get news - probably.

But after waiting...oh...10 months with no news, it doesn't seem so long :)

??? i thought it was 24hrs 6minutes

my prediction, no matter what is shown or not shown,

rockyanthologycap.jpg

"Pain."

About fucking time. The silence is probably causing more problems than any announced statements as far as perceptions.

So basically they could be talking about 100 million units of PS2 and the PSP "still gaining acceptance" for all we know.
pffft...by now everyone and their mothers should already know about the 100millions of PS2 units and that SCEA is masters of the universe and we arent worthy blah blah blah

so why would Sony call a conference just to repeat universal fact? lololol

PLACE T SHAUN 3 TIME!!!

Seriously, don't expect too much - I imagine most of the big announcements will wait until E3. Still excited, though.

Massive, you were saying earlier that Sony would also be officially plans for other Blu-ray devices, mid-March. Is that still the case, as far as you know?

Odysseus said:
I am expecting another conference to come and go without so much as a peep about the PS3, and then GAF will look to another day within a week or so as the possible big bang. And then another week to ten days after that... and again, and again, until finally we have reached E3.

In entirely unrelated news, these weekly Sony anticipation parties are bordering on Nintendopian levels.

A presser? Really? Meh, I stopped paying attention months ago. Maybe this time will be the time after all. It's past time for me to get a new aluminum foil hat anyway. I still think you'll all be sitting here on Thursday looking for the next opportunity.

I just don't see how anything in that article implies anything of note about PS3. Blowout, new information, minor tidbit, anything. It could have everything to do with PS3 or nothing at all.

Shall we schedule the next "-ton" event or stick with this one for now?

desperate much?

What the heezy? I've just noticed a million different "-ton" events posted on this forum in the past year, and so far none of them have come to fruition. I mean, we just did the end of February, for crying out loud. Pardon me for being skeptical.

They're certainly going to need to talk at least a little about their PS3 status, given how spooked the market is over the delay. But I think you'll also see a lot of talk about how they intend to extend the life of the PS2
*price cut coming up*
and how it's all part of the master plan.

Yeah, my predictions:
- PS3 delay, moving swiftly on to
- PS2 pats on the back and price cut
- PSP pats on the back and new revision with 4 gig RAM + new firmware info
- bits and bobs about games they've secured for PS2, maybe name drop FFXIII, GoW2, GT4 online, etc.

I sure hope so for the PS2 price drop. I'm looking to buy another one by the end of the week. :P

The only true prediction:

- There won't any big news about PS3 in this meeting.

They will talk about the delay and blabla. Wait for E3.

Announcing bad news (delay) at an event that Kutaragi himself is going to attend? He wouldn't allow it. ;)
Well, considering it's unavoidable at this point...
Perhaps they won't announce it at all - just brush it under the carpet.

Would be nice... :lol :lol

But I still can't see them cutting out the moneymaker that is the memory sticks for integrated storage.

They'll make a Powerpoint of how badly the PS2 has outsold the Xbox 360.

"We've decided that another few years won't kill you. You're happy, right?"

Ken Kutaragi has to give the announcement because his evil eyebrows are the ones running Sony, not Stringer...

Until they've figured a way to get off of KK's face, they are stuck attached to his body.

you know what will totally be hilarious*

if they give this announcement and simply don't talk abou the PS3 at all! lol

"See? it's not delayed because they didn't talk about it!"
"See? it's delayed because they didn't talk about it!"

You can all queue into your respective queues and i can hand out your tickets for the next months bitching!

I hope the PS2 drops down to $99.99 and the PsP white to the states.

It's coming. Actual PS3 news. You'll see Boxguy, but what else?

I expect price and date of launch in at least two territories (399$ for US this autumn), maybe news on bundle.

Details on the online service and decent amount of footage of games known and new (or at least strong announcements for the latter).

Then RSX being actually more powerfull than the new 7900, maybe for GDC.

I expect a Japanese launch month, at least..(I'm thinking September)

But yay, at least we have confirmation of something happening.

Some of this is a little too much, I think (US launch details/RSX)..

Just to say I worded it wrong on RSX. Not a spec upgrade, but I bet it is more powerful than 7900 in shading power (vertex AND pixel).

Ha nice, I've put the finishing touch on my PS3/PS2 site yesterday night. Just in time for some new medias hopefully :D

That'd be an upgrade :) I expect RSX and G71 share some common bonds (though not exactly the same), but I don't expect the clockspeed will be different to that which Sony has already announced, which would make it less powerful than the most powerful 7900.

We'll see. I wasn't thinking about clockspeed though ;)
But I don't know if they will give this kind of specification at this event. What I'm concerned about right now is the maximum reading speed of the Blu-Ray player for games.
Also, since I expect PS3 coming around this fall in the US, I don't see why a 399$ price tag would be unconceivable for some in this thread. PS3 will be state of the art technology from the market leader, just like MS launched state of the art technology in late 2005. Ms delivered what could possibly be done at that price point and so will Sony. Since I am sure PS3 won't come with an HD bundled as standard, a 399 price tag makes most sense to me when compared to what MS will have by then, a one year old 299 system they'll be able to produce in considerable quantities. I am convinced that the technological gap between the two machines will be absolutely proportionate to the time that separates them.
