8.5 Presentation
Gorgeous opening cinema followed by a compressed story video. Slick menus, lots of characters, but a limited number of stadiums.

8.0 Graphics
A crisp, clean look. Defined textures and beautifully designed models. Runs at 60 frames in progressive. Some quirky animation. Clipping in replays. Low polygon counts.

7.0 Sound
Oddly humorous voice samples bring the characters to life. Terrible announcer voice. Fittingly cheerful music. Runs in Dolby Pro Logic II.

7.5 Gameplay
Fun, but lacks depth. Pitch/hit system is intuitive and mostly balanced. Run/field setup is frustrating and lacking balance. Fast-paced play is easy to like. Best for two-players.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
A surprisingly enjoyable single-player challenge mode blends baseball with RPG-like character building. Mini-games and Toy Field extend replay. Plus, multiplayer games can go forever.

7.9 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I wouldn't call a 7.9 a strike out. Seems like a very solid score if you're just looking for a baseball game to pick up, play, and enjoy.

I agree. 7.9 is not bad at all. I'll pick this one up at a lower price however.

What was the score of Mario Golf and Mario Tennis? Those are my fav games for each sports so i'm definetely looking for trying Mario Baseball (though it's not made by Camelot ***cries)

I hope this one turns out good...

Mario Golf got an 8.0 and Mario Tennis got an 8.5 from IGN.

In GAF World anything less than a 9.0 is a utter failure for a typical publisher. Anything less than a 9.8 for a Nintendo game is a sign of the apocalypse.

7.9 is striking out now. Ok. I think from now on a review should just end with the words "fuck you guys, play it and rate it your damn self."

I blame Mario for this. He and the crew should have been juicing it for this game. Afterall, his stache does resemble Palmeiro's.

:lol I think we all know DK and Bowser have been roided up for quite some time. I feel so cheated

:lol So much for Nintendo's other great GCN games coming out this year now that Zelda is delayed.

Yea cause Nintendo doesnt have - DDR Mario Mix, Pokemon XD, Battalion Wars, Super Mario Strikers, and Mario Party 7 (laff) coming out

Womp womp womp /sarcasm

Once upon a time, in the Mushroom Kingdom, there was a company called Nintendo and they never made a bad game.

They died.

The end.

U are the worst mock troll of the day. Nintendo didn't even develop this game just whored out another license and the team usually very compotent if it really was the RBI/Famista team.

They put their name on it. This isn't the first or the last time.

Their track record stinks lately.

They surely didn't make this many in a row. Its getting embarassing. Hell before it was a given that a Nintendo game was solid, if not excellent.

Uh, this many in a row? What, that GBA Yoshi game?

What other "bad" games have they put out lately? A 7 or above is not BAD. a 7.0 to 7.9 might only be liked by fans of the genre/series, but it is in NO way a bad game.

Didn't Namco develop this? Meaning this isn't a "bad" Nintendo game, it's a "bad" Namco game.

I'll be getting this anyway, considering I think Double Dash is a 9+ game and IGN also gave that a 7.9. If I don't like it, I'll sell it, but it should prove to be a fun game for non-sports gamers like myself.

If you like 7's and above then you're a happy guy.

Or maybe find the game.. good!

Sorry, but 7.9 is not a bad score. They gave Mario Golf an 8.0 apparently.

I guess Mario Golf sucked too.

Stop, please. It's annoying.

Yes it must be annoying to have someone expect Nintendo to live up to its rep.

... What the hell are you even talking about now? Seriously, it's dumb. Stop.

Edit: Oh, and I'm still waiting for the answer to my question you strangely ignored.

You honestly feel that Nintendo makes games that are great as frequesntly as they once did? And I mean anything they put their name on as well. If they choose to farm out the franchises, they also choose to release them when they are sub-standard.

This review just goes to prove it.

No matter what games I list you're going to say "I enjoyed it" That much is obvious.

Let's see -

Star Fox Adventures
Star Fox Armada
Kirby Air Ride
Most of the Mario Parties
Geist
Mario Baseball
Mario Golf

That's just off the top of my head.

NINTENDO DID NOT DEVELOP THIS, THEREFORE IT DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING

Are you slow or something?

And this has nothing to do with the number of great games they put out now compared to before. They still put out a continuous stream of good titles, with a rare bad title here and there. Just because they might not be as amazing as they were on SNES, doesn't mean they aren't great.

Last I checked, Kirby: Canvas Curse, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Advance Wars: DS, Nintendogs, Zelda: Minish Cap, and Wario Ware Twisted/Touched came out this year.

Yeah, look at all those bad games.

Now list the bad ones. And NINTENDO PUT THEIR NAME ON IT. It doesn';t matter who dev;d it. They approved it and released it. :lol

Are you slow of something?

Wow that's probably the most colorful game I've ever seen. Everything is neon-bling. I can't wait.

Check out IGN's video review. Matt does a good job of detailing pros and cons, and doesn't bother to put his grill in the video at all. Gamespot take heed.

I think you mean "or something". I like getting made fun of in a reply full of typos.

krypt0nian, the fact is, they haven't put out a large number of bad games this year. Fact.

I'll give you Yoshi for GBA. What other -bad- games have they put out? Geist? A game that a lot of people do seem to enjoy, just like Killer 7?

But let's go back to where I asked YOU to name all the bad games Nintendo has been putting out over and over lately. You can't, because they haven't. Their quality as a developer has dipped a little since 10 years ago, but they're still one of the best game developers in the industry.

And I'm sorry, but saying a Namco-developed Mario game is a bad game by NINTENDO means that the CD-i Zelda games are games that you can rightfully hold against Nintendo as a developer. No.

Edit: I'm not even sure why I'm arguing this. Your simple mind still seems to think that Mario Baseball is a bad game because IGN gave it a 7.9, yet still ignore my point of Mario Golf getting an 8.0 and that was awesome.

Go back up and I listed some in an EDIT.

You are just going to say that a "lot of people do seem to enjoy, just like Killer 7"

And fuck you and your simple mind comment. If that's what it takes for you to "win" then you still lost.

But it can be held against them as a company. Where did I ever say this was about Nin dev'd games. THis is about Nintendo's released games being sub-par compared to their old Nintendo Quality standard.

Either way, I'm done arguing with the prince of Nintendo apologism.

So did Pokemon Dash, Geist, Yoshi T&G, Donky Konga 2, Yoshi Topsy Turvey, Mario Party Advance, Wario Ware Touched (sorry, it's a mediocre game and poor in comparison to the GBA games), and Reggie: No Momentum.

That's bordering on a EA-level quality ratio.

I don't know how you can say MG was an awesome game without either having a child-like appreciation of game design or a addiction-level need for shiny colors. Tiger Woods, Links, HSG, and, dare I say it, Outlaw Golf all beat Mario Golf for quality, depth, longevity, etc.

Ahaha, you're a horrible troll. Let's go down the list.

"Star Fox Adventures
Star Fox Armada
Kirby Air Ride
Most of the Mario Parties
Geist
Mario Baseball
Mario Golf"

Star Fox Adventures was not Nintendo, and not even originally supposed to be a Star Fox game until the end of development.

Armada, is again, Namco.

Kirby Air Ride? Not very good. There's one.

Most of the Mario Parties? No, they're not BAD games. They're just milked. They are a blast on 4-player.

Geist isn't a bad game. But I'll give you that for the hell of it.

Mario Baseball, you're saying is bad, based on IGN's 7.9 review. This makes your argument very flawed. Sorry.

Mario Golf is great.

Come on now, that's your example of bad games by Nintendo? Give it a rest.

Again Nintendo faithful calls troll when put to task.

And nice apologist work on most of the titles I listed.

"not even supposed to be a Star Fox game".... :lol
