Mario Baseball Strikes out... IGN Review

The minigames look fun. Baseball's not my bag tho. Still waiting for Tennis price drop :(

And whoever was playing in that video review sucks big time :lol

Krypt: "Nintendo sux"
Zeo: "NO THEY DONT!"
Krypt: "YES THEY DO!"
Zeo: "NO THEY DONT! THEY MADE *list*"
Krypt: "LOL YEAH THEY SUCK THEY ALSO HAVE THEIR NAME ON *list*"
Zeo: "But then what about teh zeruda CD-I and Mario's Hotel zomgzomgzomgzomg!!111oneoneoneichi!"
*GaimeGuy eats popcorn.

This is entertaining. :D

Even if Mario Baseball gets an average of 1.0 from all major sites, the rabid Nintendo fanboys will still ensure that it sells a decent amount....AND continue to claim that the game isn't as bad as the gaming press makes it out to be.....

Again Nintendo faithful calls troll when put to task.

And nice apologist work on most of the titles I listed.

"not even supposed to be a Star Fox game".... :lol

YEA LOL.

Except I'm right.

By the way, I'm not a "Nintendo faithful". I'd be doing the same thing if it was for any company that I disagreed with you about.

Continue you dumbass argument, but if one more person insinuates that Mario golf is a bad game I will find and kill you. :)

By no means does Nintendo suck. They are just off their game lately.

Tennis hasn't dropped in price yet? That sucks.

You should definitely pick it up. One of the most fun arcade sports game this gen (my favorite, personally). Tons of replay.

Considering this is probably the closest I'll get to a new Baseball Simulator 1.000 until Culture Brain decides to stop making Mahjongg games, hamster simulators, and Sweet Cookie Pie, I guess I'll probably end up buying it.

Nintendo has improved in some apsects this generation but there second party releases have been less than impressive. They need to stop overusing the Mario franchise. Its ridiculous. They have plenty of popular franchises they could use...or better yet....CREATE NEW ONES!

DONT label Nintendo fans. Im a huge fan but I dont agree with Zeo and all the other fanboys who are blinded by their love for the big N.

In many ways...Nintendo's recent offerings have been indicative of the industry. They are too scared to release new IPs because they are unlikely to sell. People are also complaining about the amount of game releases....so Nintendo has rushed production on a few titles.

The quality of the second party companies isn't quite what it used to be. Retro were an acception. One example where Nintendo got it right. They need to try and repeat that form but I dont think they can do it with compnaies like N-Space and Kuju.

Creating these new franchises, especially ones that last decades, is easier said than done.

What the fuck does it matter? Does it actually bother you that people are saying that? I bet it does The question is why. Do you work for Nintendo? Do you have stock in the company? What does it matter what they say about a company with employees you never met, making money you've never seen?

Uh, no.

And it has nothing to do with the fact that it's Nintendo. It's the fact that they're getting blamed for something they didn't develop. It's annoying, no matter who it is.

So yeah, if someone says "Nintendo developed _____" after 4 previous posts saying they DIDN'T, I'm going to correct them.

Retro is 100% owned by Nintendo.

And I disagree with your statement about 2nd parties. While Nintendo doesn't have a single 2nd party to rely upon like they did in the SNES/N64 era with Rare, they have had a crapload of collaberations with other studios in the development of titles. And a lot of these are good games.

Rareware
-Star Fox Adventures (GC)
-Donkey Kong Country (GBA)
-Donkey Kong Country 2 (GBA)
-Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA)

ChunSoft

Thanks to demi for helping me out a bit with this.

Maybe so. But these are professional game designers. If they cant create new franchises...wtf are they doing working for an elite game company like Nintendo?

Seems like an excuse to say its too hard.

It's Next Level Games.

Also, don't be forgetting Vivarium with Odama for GC and Tower SP for GBA and Skip with Giftpia & Chibi Robo.

Just saw the IGN video review-the game looks like alot of fun. The quick pace looks refreshing for a baseball game, its good that they didn't go for a sim. otherwise it wold have sucked in my opinion-Nintendo characters and fast paced baseball work beautifuly.

I also like the mini games and unlockables in this game,I just don't think it warrants $50 dollars though. Should be a great grab one we see a price drop or two on it.

I don't think these companies count as second parties though. Also some other ones in your list probably aren't either, but I'm not too sure.

Edit: And I'm inclined to agree with Kryt0nian. Nintendo's off their game for quite a few games. And why the fuck aren't they developing as many in-house titles on their franshises as they used to?

I didn't say they were 2nd parties. I did say these were collaberations, and all of them (except for Metal Gear Solid: TTS) were 2nd party GAMES (well, some of them, such as Sword of Mana, were developed by a Nintendo 1st party with SE's input)

Goodness, terribly sorry. Went back over your post. Reading is fundamental :).

I think it looks great. and it is fast. but the fielding is pretty much garbage, the controls feel very off whenever you are not pitching or batting.

Probably because they were desperate to throw their resources to the DS. At least in the recent past. And that's paying off. The GC is a bomb and they know it. Their probably happy to have content coming at all for it, their not going to be going nuts over the quality obviously.

So what games have Nintendo made this gen? Sega did their FZero, Namco and Rare did their StarFox... all I can think of is Zelda, Mario and Pikmin 1 and 2.

Like every other Nintendo sports game, this one is just dumbed down for the children, slapped with way too many fucking colors and as shallow as a $5 plastic pool. While there is a bit of a cool factor in seeing Mario characters play baseball, once the game is in motion you realize the game is crap. It's almost as if you don't really have to do anything but hit a button every once in awhile.

Metroid Prime
Luigi's Mansion
Animal Crossing
Mario Kart
1080°Avalanche
Wave Race Blue Storm
Advance Wars 1&2 (IntSys)
Pokemon
Ridge Racer DS
Wario Ware
DKJB
Fire Emblem (IntSys)

I don't know how a 7.9 is a "strike out," but okay. I just know I played the demo over at Best Buy, and the game is an absolute blast! I'm buying, regardless of what any of the gaming sites say.

I'll give you Yoshi for GBA.
Yoshis Topsy Turvey isn't a bad game at all. It's a very nice concept, has very good level design and the only thing which can be called "bad" is the tilt sensor which needs a bit of practice. Besides that, it isn't developed by Nintendo. Zelda TMC isn't developed by Nintendo, too btw. The only really bad game mentioned here is Kirbys Air Ride.
