I do that because I somehow only get bombarded with stuff from behind in 6th or lower. And even then I STILL get hit a lot of the time.
It's more important to waste a red shell defensively than throw it and get nailed, which just helps the person behind you gain 2 spots.
I'm only mad at people doing this because they come in front of me out nowhere and I get wrecked ;_;
EVERY TIME.
I always manage to get hit by those fuckers too.

Sometimes I save it to make sure a red shell doesn't hit me. Once I know I'm safe, then I throw it!
Playing defensively is key sometimes. Others can see what you're holding so the surprise factor is not really an issue, and you can't always react that quickly so having the shell act as a shield = better safe than sorry.
Any chance this bike and Wario outfit is in the game:
Would be cool if he changed outfits in the same way that Rosalina, Peach, Daisy do when they ride a bike.
It would also be cool if we could change the color of our character's outfit, just like in Smash Bros. So there could be the same characters racing on the same track but with different outfits.
More like, How is it that the person in 5th or lower, has triple shells and not using them for the longest time?

I guess I'm lucky that I haven't gotten a communication error while actually in a race yet except for when I'm idle.
I had a red shell on that gliding segment at the end, saw you in front of me only with a mushroom, and accidentally threw it backwards.

I believe Pro Controllers are region free. Gamepads aren't region free though. Unsure about the Wii peripherals and controllers though.
