In a Dutch mag stood last month a rumour about that Nintendo want's to buy Namco . The guy who wrote the rumour has also good contacts with Nintendo (iirc he wrote that he has the phone number of Miyamoto but i think that's bullshit :lol )

Not necessarily - anyone who's met Miyamoto may have got his business card, which has his phone number on it. Or he may have seen his business card.

I'd like to see Nintendo buy Namco. A lot of their games are quintessentially "Playstation"..games like Ridge Racer are associated with PS launches etc. so it'd be interesting to see them exclusively launch with Revolution instead ;) After SFA, though, I'm not sure how much I want to see them working with Nintendo's stuff (not that SFA was BAD, but it wasn't BRILLIANT either). Fingers crossed for Mario Kart, it looks great.

Either way, it's amazing to see how far Namco-Nintendo relations have come in basically one generation. I remember when Dolphin was announced, one of the big questions was over Namco's support - relations were only beginning to thaw at the end of the N64's life. I think it's been one success for Nintendo this gen, and a nice reflection on their changed third party relations.

This is very very VERY cool!

One Kart - check
Cool tracks - check
No Double Dash too much color syndrome - check
Megatone - check

:D

I wonder how powersliding is initiated in this game. If the game has no hop then it would simple to perform a powerslide by releasing the accelerator, then tapping the brake and then reapplying the accelerator (which is done in many games including Daytona USA). But it's likely the hop has returned so I'm not sure.

Also what is the point of the coins if rubberbanding is in the game?

The single player seems to have 6 racers instead of 8, which is odd]. Maybe it depends? Maybe the 6 is just 6 machines hooked up, but without the camera mode?

Ok after first looking at the screens I'll say it looks fun and I will def buy a Cube version if released. BUTTTTTTTT after looking at them again I have to be somewhat dissapointed with the graphics, it really doesn't look that great. I just showed the screens to a co-worker through aim and he replied new DS game? So I said nah man thats running off of Triforce, made me go back n look and I was like well ya know what it aint looking to nice is it.

What do you expect it to look like, RSC? It's a cartoony game in the first place. It also looks like they are sacraficing the number of onscreen characters and making this more detailed and busier than DD. I really can't see where there can be complaints.

It really doesn't look quite as good as Double Dash, hope it plays as well.

I think this cityscape looks better than anything in DD personally. But either way, the game is a bit of a ways off, there's plenty of time for it to be polished up some more to appease graphical concerns. I'd like some video though to see how it looks in motion.

Also about the graphics, go to IGN and look at screenshots of MK:DD. These look a lot better than those (Which is the only way to compare, since we don't have any moving videos of the arcade version).

They've haven't made A game as good as that...they've made MANY games that are BETTER than that. :D

Your taste in games suck as do your eyes :p

looks good enough for Mario Kart.

Hopefully it dont end up like starfox.

Ha ha ha, no.

Seriously, though, what on earth is so good about Double Dash that would make you say something like that? Do you really like it that much? It's a good game, but certainly nothing amazing...

I tried to enjoy it, but everytime I do play it, the fun only lasts for half an hour before I'm sick of it (and I've only really spent time playing 2-4 player modes). Unless the single player mode is some sort of mini-god, I don't understand your comment at all.

Apart from the bland interface, it does look quite good, even if the characters are taking a large space on the screen. Really looking forward to it.

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone think that if Nintendo includes a built in eye toy like hardware into Revolution, they could create some truly revolutionary games with games like Mario or Zelda?

Yeah, the graphics aren't that interesting. That pic of the Japanese city kinda looks off compared to the more common tracks in the other Mario Kart games.

The game probably has another 7-8 months until release though. Lets hope they polish up the graphics a bit more.

Press "Accelerate" & "Brake" at the same time to Jump / use items

How much do you want to bet that this game is almost a direct reaction to Double Dash's lukewarm reception. Regular carts, jumping, pumped up background graphics?

Of course someone is going to say that Nintendo is selling out and we'll be back to another thread of doom/Nintendo isn't doing what customers want.

I've always thought Nintendo selling out would be a good thing.

LOTRelda, True Mario Platformer, and in this instance, Classic Mario Kart.

You don't like F-Zero GX, so you really can't claim to have the best taste in racers, can you? :p

I like F-Zero GX. It's just not my favorite racer of all time. GX absolutely CRUSHES Double Dash.

This wasn't just about racers, though...

:lol you make yourself look stupid. Anyways go play and enjoy your shitty Mario Kart and RE4-jagfest alternative

F-Zero GX was lovely but it doesnt compare to Mario Kart as a game. Mario Kart isnt a serious racer unless its time trial where its much better than GX.

Man I'm tempted to use my ignore list now. I always thought that was lame thing to do, but this is getting out of hand.

No offense where the hell did MKDD VS F-ZERO come from?

Shouldnt it be F-Zero v wipeout v Redshift?

You assume to much. RE4 could very well end up being my GOTY this year, as it was one of the best games I've played in a long time. Where exactly did that comment come from?

I couldn't care less about Mario Kart or its alternatives, as I really don't enjoy "kart" racers anymore.

GX is a vastly superior game, in my opinion. The core mechanics are simply better and more refined. It's a deeper, more exciting experience. I hate to bring reviews into this, but I think more people would consider YOU foolish (or, as you put it, "stupid") for placing Double Dash above GX.

Anyways, let's drop this. This is a Mario Kart thread, and quite frankly, it was childish of you to slug such a broad insult at an entire companies lineage. Shame on you.

Yep.

Also, if this turns up on any home console, it'll most definitely be GC. Triforce is to GC as Naomi was to Dreamcast. It's basically the same thing.
Basically except for mian system RAM.

Dreamcast~ 16MB
Naomi~ 32MB

GameCube~ 24MB
Tri-Force~ 48MB

:lol Why are you posting here? Instead you are bashing MKDD over defending Namco (who do rock). Namco do not have any franchise like MK. Their fighters come close but MKDD is one of the biggest multiplayer franchises.

Laugh all you want. No one even played FZero. This is coming from someone who unlocked most of the game and loved it. Even played in the arcade.

This Namco announcement really surprises me given their lukewarmk reception to TriForce. I wonder what else might be planned? Namco's previously canceled All-Star fighter? Mario Baseball Arcade? Donkey Konga Arcade? Soul Calibur 3 with Link/Gannondorf?

PAC-MAN!

WMCPacLogo.jpg

PAC-MAN!!!!

So, what, can Pac-Man grab a special "Pac-power" and then all of the other racers turn blue? Then Pac-Man can speed up, and EAT the other racers? Swwwweeeeeeeeet.
