Mario Party 6 - Gamespot review

Nintendo, get a clue. No one likes these games, they may be enjoyable, but seriously: who is buying Mario Party 6?

I will be. I've had hundreds of hours of fun with all 5 previous games, all of which sold quite well by the way. That might have something to do with why they keep making them?

Your posts really, really suck.

God, when will the finally kill this horrific series? For the love of God, Nintendo, know when enough is enough!

Lazy review?

MP5 rocked alot of so called excellent games last year. I ignored the series because it looked kiddy. But i admit its like crack.

Maybe when people stop buying and liking them. And maybe stop buying EA stuff? :p

Death to the infidels!

i'm getting it to see the minigames, but i am disappointed that they didnt make at least a little effort in changing the presentation and underlying gameplay. I would have preferred that to the microphone gimmick

I've played them, they are a blast, but it is the same game with new minigames over and over again. There are just too many being released. I would rather see Nintendo devote its resources elsewhere.

It's to be expected, Unison, and has happened upon each sequel's release here - the funny thing is that the vast majority of people who slam the series have very little experience actually playing it. It's just a very easy cool-to-hate target in the same vein as Pokemon, being good lighthearted fun and all. The fact that they release substantial annual updates is awesome.

They're made by Hudson.

I don't know how many times people need to be reminded of the "voting with dollars" logic. Nintendo keeps making them because people buy them. They could care less if so and so reviewer gives the game 2 or the l33t gamers call the game kiddy or trash.

Hudson make Mario Party, not Nintendo.

Right. But in the end, Nintendo is wasting resources and so is Hudson. I don't it's necessary to make all these Mario Party games. Surely no one else thinks it is...

Its necessary :p Hudson are good.

it makes them money, so from their point of view, its not wasting resources, its generating revenue.

It's only a waste as long as there aren't any returns. I really haven't cared about Mario Party since 2, but in the end, Nintendo still profits from these games.

How are they wasting resources? The games sell extremely well (check out CVxFREAK's last japanese daily sales thread to see what we're talking about.) On top of that, these games must be very cheap to produce. Put two and two together and get a goldmine for a fraction of the effort it takes to make new Metroid, Mario, or Zelda. This isn't a waste at ALL.

Hopefully next-generation, if Revolution has a harddrive, Nintendo will just develop patches for Mario Party that give it new minigames, boards, and features. I think then it would be worth it.

I'd rather see more innovative titles get published by Nintendo. New ideas are awesome, Mario Party 6 is a bit of a rehash.

One thing this forum has taught is that catch phrases like "generating revenue" and "turning a profit" are quite irrelevant to running a video game company.

you guys are OBVIOUSLY not the target audience. The kiddies. Come on. I don't buy these titles. And I don't blast them for their sequelness... minigames. At least they made it work (looks at Sega and Sonic Shuffle)

Please.

No matter which you slice it, making six Mario Party titles lack integrity. I understand business and the almight dollar, but I still think Nintendo and Hudson should pursue other projects and release a very occasional sequel to Mario Party.

For the record, why are there only two SSB titles and six Mario Party games?

translation: Nintendo must become SEGA not EA.

Hope MP6 sells horribly and Nintendo learns to stop pumping out so many MPs.

We need them twice a year actually.

I think Mario Party 5 was the crowning acheivement of the series with tons of great mini-games, beatiful graphics and faster gameplay. But I must admit I put far more hours into MP4, seeing as it was the first GameCube entry and I think the few mini-games it had where more fun than the 70 in MP5. There's no denying Mario Party 4 and 5 are the ultimate party games. It leads to a lot of yellin.

Nintendo must avoid becoming either company. Sega went bankrupt and EA is just a huge company that makes a good game every now and then.

For the record, I've had a thing against Mario Party ever since the first one drilled a hole in my hand.

Mario Party is really fun in a relaxed, casual kind of way. Get some friends, a couple of Wavebirds, some snacks, comfortable seating arrangements, and let the good times roll.

Now Sonic Shuffle was painful. That was a ripoff of the Mario Party series if I ever did see one.

I find it pointless to hate on these games because they will find their target audience, and sell well. People have grown accustomed to Mario, and they like playing as him, and his entourage, no matter what genre he steps into. I don't mind Mario Party at all, and whoever enjoys these games, well, to each their own.

Especially Game Informer. They give them all 3's.
Yeah, they never really specify why the give that low of a score, but then again, I don't think that the people who are reading GI are looking for an in-depth review of Mario Party.

+1 its not to be taken seriously at all. Look at Wario Ware.

I like the games, I never said I didn't, I just don't think there needs to be so many sequels. And neither do you.

Yep. I'm dying. I just think it's foolish and anyone who thinks it isn't is a fool.

That hole-in-hand comment was just a joke, GreenGiant.
