Mark loves RE4

Yay. I don't know this Mark fellow, but anyone who praises RE4 is a friend of mine!

Carrot Top: Resident Evil 4 is great, I just wish the zombies had orange hair and used props!

I take that back. :D

If Capcom had any brains, they'd release like 10 copies of this game this year so it could kick ass in awards.

The games industry would have then taken a huge leap towards being the film industry...not gonna happen.

Gotta watch what I say around Che...

Anyway, I can't mention specifics (look for updated web previews from all the majors soon, and GMR's review after that) and I don't want to build up wild hype and expectations......but holy. Fucking. Shit. :D Yes, I am completely blown away by RE4.

A few things I can safely say:
1) There is way, way more to this game than I imagined...(my favorite part is aspects of the gameplay I can't talk about yet :/)
2) RE4 is my new #1 most-wanted
3) If you don't already own a GameCube, buy one for this game

Shit, I was honestly not anticipating RE4 in any way, but I'm now starting to get on the hype train. If I don't get a GC for Christmas I'll have to buy one.

Going by Mark's impressions, I hope Nintendo advertises the hell out of it.

maybe he was expecting it to be the worse game ever and now its just a average title ? YOU NEVER KNOW

I should say that before, based on the two or three different versions of the demo, I was already expecting a great game. Those were the expectations that were blown away :)

Also, I'm a huge RE fan who felt like the series had fallen into a rut recently (the predictability of RE 0, the horrible communication of Outbreak). So take that for what it's worth....

When waiting to begin a little university seminar on the video games industry for Honours students in Economics (They opened it to anyone, no fucking way I'd be an Econ major), and he was showing the full run of the RE4 demo from IGN. I hadn't seen much of the game in a long time.

Looked awesome. But, I kind of dislike the series in general, so I still am wary of the title. Plus, I'll likely choose Jungle Beat and Minish Cap along with a DS/DS Games as my early next year purchases. But, who knows, I might fall into the hype.

I thought the presentation started out on such an awesome note...and then he said Fable was exclusive to Nintendo and that Sony was working with Sega on a CD system before it fell apart.

Then I chortled with laughter on the inside.

speaking of the stupid comics on his blog, i recommend you all check it out. i started at around chapter 4 or 5 and have been hooked. too bad che doesn't update that regularly anymore.

Resident Evil 4 could rock even harder if they made the crate smashing more intuitive. The demo is awesome, I just hope they fix a couple things with the final game.

I must have played through the Famitsu demo 20 times. I wondered if the entire game could be as good as the first level. There are so many different ways to go through it. I'm more pumped for this game than any other.

Heh...I was going to start hyping RE4 my self on 1up, but when I saw your comment on Che's blog, I had to hype RE4 with your comment.

I assume this countdown at RE4's official US site hints at when to expect this media/preview update(around December 11th).

Looks like the year starts out with a bang on Gamecube.

Looks like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil franchises are back to their glory days. Now my Gamecube game tally can expand beyond the Metroid Prime franchise & Zelda franchises (WW + bonus disc) and head to 5. Not waiting for the inferior PS2 port (OMGWHAT).

Don't know if you beat MGS3 yet, Che, but the finish to the game is everything Half Life 2 and Halo 2 are not. Wildest finish I've ever seen for a game.

BTW I just think Che is easily impressed:

11-22-04 BLOG:

* I took the day off today to put some serious time into Half-Life 2. That, and also just bumming around the house, since I feel like I'm never here during daylight hours even though I pay waaaay too much for rent every month. I'm feeling a little bad for Halo 2 right now, simply because all this attention on HL2 has taken me away from getting my ass kicked on Xbox Live.

But having played, what, about 10 hours of the game now, I can confidently say that HL2 is hands down game of the year -- at least for single-player games. Although Halo 2 still has better gameplay mechanics (if we're talking strictly about shooting stuff), HL2 is doing so much subtle and intelligent scripting and cool (albeit elementary) physics puzzles, it feels like next-generation shit.

Current BLOG:

Half-Life 2: Alright, so I finished the game last Thursday. The warm rays of the sun were punctuated by the fact that work was only half-day. It felt like summer vacation again. I ate lunch with Mark and Shane at Hukilau, a Hawaiian greasy spoon on the corner of Geary and Masonic. Not bad! Afterwards, we split off into our own enclaves and began gaming in earnest. Mark headed straight for the Halo 2 multiplayer mayhem while I cleaned up Half-Life 2. As I ran around the citadel with my super gravity gun, I had no clue how close I was to the end. So... after finishing the game... I was... slightly peeved with the ending. 6 years and this is what we get? Pah. But my biggest problem with HL2 has nothing to do with the end. The reason why HL2 "let me down" has solely to do with the pre-scripted nature of the game. Combined with the almost non-existent tactical A.I. and you have a very epic, very linear, shooting gallery. I could go on and on about this but I'll stop here. Overall, Half-Life 2 had its moments (and what incredible moments they were) but it's not my single-player game of the year.

:lol Not trying to mean, just thought it was funny how quickly you changed your opinion. Oh and right below his HL2 comments he talks about MGS3:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: No, because my single-player game of the year honor goes to MGS3. This is easily Kojima's best work to date, and already one of my favorite action games ever made. MGS3 exemplifies what I consider to be the ideal separation between cutscenes and games.

How many more days before he is flip flopping his opinion again? Take your bets now! Haha, just kidding! I agree MGS3 is pushing hard for single player GOTY. It's very close between MGS3 and Ninja Gaiden! :D

I took a break from MGS3 to type this response... but yes, I am nearing the end I think. Currently at the escort mission. Fuck me if this isn't one of my favorite games ever. Can't wait to play through it again on extreme, without lethal force.

Yeah, Mark telling me about RE4 yesterday over lunch made me salivate a pint. The way he makes it sound, it's more like an open ended action game than anything else. And it's intense as hell to boot.

I guess RE4 will be the perfect follow-up to MGS3... and for a month in-between, I can play other B tier stuff like VJ2, Killzone, Mechassault 2, DS games, and of course, Halo 2 on Live.

it's about time that the cube gets some major AAA action that a wide audience are interested in.

So I take it Mark is playing a near-complete version of game and that means the January release date is set in stone now? :)

NO!! IMPOSSIBLE!! I SOLD MY CUBE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL OVER

I am also wondering if this game is the best looking graphic vise on the cube? The demo was very nice, but i don't know about the full version.

Killzone is way further down the alphabet than B tier.

LOL, Mr. Bob....

The problem with Half-Life 2 is that it started off so strong. So very strong. And then came the buggy ride and that was ok. But I kept waiting for the tactical combat moments from HL1, which never came. And then there was Anticitizen One, which felt really staged and drawn out... and then that is followed up by Follow Freeman which is basically more of the same. Basically, the game kind of falls apart for me post-Nova Prospekt.

HL2 is definitely one of those games I would have scored a 10 early on and then realized my folly and corrected myself later. Plus, I don't have to be objective on my blog. This game was a huge disappointment for me, since I was intensely hyped on it after watching Gabe do the E3 2003 demo.

I hear HL2 deathmatch is going to be released on Steam soon. Now that might be something to look into...

I love teh Mark! I'm so glad that RE4 is rocking...It was already my most anticipated game...But will it blow all of my expectations away as well? By the sounds of it! :)
