Married with Children returning to TV...sorta

Bud Bundy being a family man sounds really boring. He was funny and will always be remembered as the lil pervert who always had trouble gettin' sum. Then again, being all grown and still acting the same way would have been creepy. So this show is already not a good idea.

MWC is probably my favorite sitcom ever. Still watch it when it comes on. Though when someone asks me what i watch i don´t say "married witch children", i just say i´m watching Al Bundy.

Will watch the episodes where everyone is in it and ignore the rest.

So Bud not only managed to get laid, he convinced a woman to marry him and bear his seed?

You're asking a lot from me show!

I would sell a million shoes to fat women for another second of Al Bundy on television.

Love this show so, so, SOOOOO much.

Speaking of Bud, here is recent photo of him.....

Dude looks as old as Al.

Sorry, I didn't notice Bud. I was looking to the left side of the pic

I never realized how different "Married... With Children" is from "Married with Children".

Edit: Katy Segal... my god. I remember as a kid I never understood while Al didn't like having sex with her, Lol.

Today I learned they're gonna reboot Full House...why?!

I keep hearing it's going to be more of a revival, though given Girl Meets World and, well, this, that kind of thing(reboot/revival/rebirth) seems to be a "thing" now. In a way, I don't mind. Sometimes I'd rather have extension series/revivals of older ones that completely rebooted takes on older shows. I think, if you're going to just get a new cast, might as well just do a new show altogether. I feel the same with a lot of reboot movies too.

While the running joke was that Bud never got laid, honestly, throughout the course of the show, he pulled some amazing ass. Like, the last two seasons, he was constantly slamming some amazingly hot women. And it was funny because he'd be walking out with this fine ass chick behind him and they'd still be making jokes about him being a virgin. And somehow, it still worked. Which is why Married with Children was so awesome. All the characters were one trick ponies, but the show was greater than the sum of the whole.

They have an episode honestly explaining this - regardless of what your wife looks like, every husband (in MWC-land) finds his wife unattractive, even if other people think she's banging. There was an episode about Peggy putting a scarf over her face and suddenly Al thinking she was the hottest woman on earth.

It was the adage "No matter how hot she may be, somebody somewhere is tired of sleeping with her." Taken to extreme caricature.

I loved the episode where he actually found her attractive...when she was bent over cleaning the grill.

the payoff on that episode is hilarious - they wind up eating the ashes of Marcy's dead aunt. LMAO that's one of the funniest episodes ever.

Unless this is a cable show pass.

The TV era that Married with Children lived in is long dead. Not interested in a safe "remember when" sequel series.

Yup.

There's just no way that the MWC humor will ever be able to work now days. Tumblr and Twitter will go apeshit at the first Fat Lady No Ma'am joke.

The best part of that episode is Steve smiling and digging in when he realizes it.

If the rest of the Bundy's make even cameo appearances, I'd be fine with it.

If not, I'll pass. Bud isn't an interesting enough character on his own.

the part that cracks me up is when Peggy tries to replace the ashes by smoking like 8 cigarettes at once lmao

And then Al's speech to Marcy where she eats the burger and likes it.

It's pretty cool to see a tv cast that seem to really care about and support each other in real life, especially when it was a show where the characters love for each other wasn't as outwardly apparent lol

I dunno how to feel about this the original is such a hilarious show it all depends on the premise and if the family would make appearances from time to time.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Perfect vehicle to bring this scenario back. Plus, as others point out, Faustino looks like Al Bundy.

I just want to see No Ma'am return.

I feel the same way. I love Married...with Children and even though it may not have the full cast, I'll still watch it. Now all we need is Bud to follow in Al as a shoe salesman and we are good to go.

Well If you watch enough episodes, the love really is apparent. For one thing, they are never ever mad with each other. They insult each other all the time, but no one gets angry, they just say a funny quip back. How many other families in sitcoms can say that? I wish my family was more like that. Al and Peggy always insult each other but they never truly fight, and when one of them thinks the other is cheating on them that bothers them a lot. Neither one really wants to leave or wants the other to leave.

When Kelly wants to leave home at 18 because Al won't let her have boyfriends, he pretty much goes to her apartment and begs her to come back and live home.

thinking back, the heart of Married with Children was the constant war between ultra non-PC male pig Al Bundy and hyper liberal women's movement champion Marcy. Given today's climate, the show could work on the same grounds, but they'd have to A) Turn bud into a pig beyond being just a horny dude, and B) find a foil for him ala Marcy.

That Al-Marcy tandem was honestly as good as television got. Who ever fills Marcy's role has enormous shoes to fill (no pun intended).

Yeah I just thinking about her character and yeah she was a very big part of the show she was antagonist for Al throughout the series a character like that needs to show up in this series.

EDIT a lil off topic but how is Modern Family compared to MWC.

Amanda Bearse was also the director for most of Married with Children (and essentially got David Faustino into directing) and co-wrote many episodes. She was very much involved with the show.

EDIT: Whoa! Amanda Bearse aged super gracefully! She looks exactly the same! She could totally be in the show.

Al always referred to Kelly as his pumpkin, and whenever she brought home a boyfriend while Al was there was some of the funniest and heartwarming MWC moments. Someone needs to make an animated gif of Al's patented way of walking Kelly's boyfriends out the door lol. Al's protectiveness of Kelly was very sweet.

My favorite instance of Al beating up one of Kelly's boyfriends is the episode where they take her to the movies for her birthday (they assumed she'd say she had plans so that way they could get away with offering her a birthday present without having to give her one, but she surprised them by saying yes). While at the movies, she spots the guy she broke a date with out with another woman making out in the back. She gets super embarrassed and tells him off, walking away saying she'll be the bigger person and not cause a scene. Then she sits down and calmly goes "Daddy, beat him up" and Al gets up without saying a word and kicks the shit out of the guy.

That entire episode is hilarious.

Like many others have said, if there are some cameos here and there I'd be interested. I'd be even more interested if they could somehow work in the ancillary characters like Officer Dan, some of the No Ma'am people, maybe even Jefferson and Marcy.

Everyone's life to some degree was pretty crappy in MWC so I can easily see everyone not getting much further in life and still slumming it in Chicago. I wouldn't mind the show including the MWC universe of characters minus the rest of the Bundy's.
