Aren't there dirtier shows on TV now?Don't want.
Part of the MWC charm was how un PC it was. They would never be able to pull off that stuff in this day and age. It would just become a regular sitcom.
Why are people calling these sequels "reboots"?
At the same time Married with Children was the funniest sitcom, it also might be the most heartwarming. The countless times they joined together to beat a common enemy, Al being overprotective of Kelly, Al begging 18 year old Kelly in her apartment to come back home, how sad and concerned Peggy got when she thought Al might leave her, how obvious it was that they all enjoyed insulting each other - they always said it with a smile on their face - it was never mean spirited. None of them ever took it personally, yelled, or got angry. They just made a quip back, usually smiling while they did it.

I'd like for the old level of inappropriateness to drive this show but I'm actually concerned people won't think it's edgy enough.
I don't think I have seen anything on prime time network tv today that comes close to MWC. And sure there are dirtier shows on cable but dirty jokes and un PCness are differwnt IMo.
Like, just at face value, Family Guy pushes the envelope much further than Married With Children. In family guy, you have husbands beating their wives, pedophilia, child abuse, etc. the vague sexual jokes of MWC are overt sexual jokes in Family Guy.
MWC was very edgy back in the day. today, it's tame. not because it's gotten soft, but because the world itself has gotten much more edgy.
Dirty and pc are too different things.
MWC has moments of shocking homophobia and sexism that would never be on tv today. I haven't seen Family guy ever come close to some of the stuff.
Amanda Bearse was also the director for most of Married with Children (and essentially got David Faustino into directing) and co-wrote many episodes. She was very much involved with the show.
EDIT: Whoa! Amanda Bearse aged super gracefully! She looks exactly the same! She could totally be in the show.
so did Ted McGinnley:

Al did leave Peg. And then Peg got a boyfriend.
While I don't disagree that MWC had heart warming moments, calling it the most heartwarming is just wrong, because the simpsons were in their prime at the same time, and the cosby's ran opposite of both. Like, depending on which direction you want to go, I'd call either of those way more heartwarming than MWC.
There are numerous simpsons episodes which brought tears to my eyes. The best Married With Children got was Al's "I'm not a loser" speech, which, admittedly, was way badass and one of my favorite TV speeches.
Bud Bundy was the worst Bundy.
You anti-bud people are nuts, bud was perfectly fine. The episode where he is the face of the virgin hotline or the episode where he's caught masturbating in the public library are both hilarious. I love when he screams in horror at looking at the librarian naked in the nudie magazine.
Bud was involved in good episodes, but the character himself was not really good.
Not to mention the ending of the episode where Al gets his car lost in a car wash. That moved me a lot, I wasn't expecting that at all. For those who haven't seen it,Well If you watch enough episodes, the love really is apparent. For one thing, they are never ever mad with each other. They insult each other all the time, but no one gets angry, they just say a funny quip back. How many other families in sitcoms can say that? I wish my family was more like that. Al and Peggy always insult each other but they never truly fight, and when one of them thinks the other is cheating on them that bothers them a lot. Neither one really wants to leave or wants the other to leave.
When Kelly wants to leave home at 18 because Al won't let her have boyfriends, he pretty much goes to her apartment and begs her to come back and live home.
Not to mention the ending of the episode where Al gets his car lost in a car wash. That moved me a lot, I wasn't expecting that at all. For those who haven't seen it,I feel happy just thinking about it, what a fantastic show it was.Peggy spent the whole episode critizing Al for keeping his porn magazines in the trunk of the car and wanting to recover them, but he always denied it, saying that wasn't what made him sad. Cut to the final scene, when they finally found the car and the family gets inside. Al opens the trunk, smiles and grabs something from inside: one of his porn magazines. He opens it and then the camera moves behind him, only to show that there was a photo of the family hidden inside.
I sincerely hope they don't ruin the new show. Here in Argentina an adaptation was made, but it was atrocious and made me feel angry about how it disrespected the source material.
What? Memories ruinedEr, that was a classic TV gag.It aired during sweeps week, hence the out of character ending.
Always Sunny recently did an episode last season that revolved entirely around that same joke..the joke being that the show is willing to sell out and get overtly sappy to try and win an academy award
Listed among numerous other examples here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OscarBait
the main part of the joke isbeing plastered over the screen during the ending."FOR YOUR EMMY CONSIDERATION"
That was the 200th episode. The most for a single comedy sitcom at the time iirc. It was sappy as a nod to the fans for their support. Hence the early photo.Er, that was a classic TV gag.It aired during sweeps week, hence the out of character ending.

Get the dodge out of hell is the 199th episode: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Married..._with_Children_episodes
Further, the Cosby Show passed 200 episodes 3 years prior.

What streaming service is this?
Apparently it was 199 but it was advertised S the 200th episode. Confirmed this online and I distinctly remember the ads for it as I was an avid fan.
My point still stands. Steve came back, the car dying ideA, the end. It was a special episode for a commemoration.
I might be wrong about longest. Maybe hat was combining Cosby shows?
Am I only 1 hoping that if this happens it's Amber he's married to? On one hand it'd provide plenty of reason to have Marcy guest appearances. On the other, well I always did kinda secretly hoped those two got back together post-series.E! reports this morning that a new take on "Married... With Children" is in the works with plans for a spinoff series to follow the life of David Faustino's Bud Bundy and, presumably, his new family.
Unhappy after ever 2 starring Nikki Cox's hot daughter.
I suggest watching the episode of Family guy where Peter becomes gay to satisfy both of your criteria for anti-PC.
EDIT: In other words, homophobia and sexism galore.
EDIT AGAIN: And the episode of Married With Children that revolves around homosexuality - the episode with Marcy's Cousin - is actually very tolerant. Quote Al: "I have no problem with being gay."
Don't forget, one of the stars, writers, and directors of Married With Children, Amanda Bearse, is a lesbian and feminist.
MWC did a lot of un PC stuff, but it usually handled homosexuality and transgender decently. In the episodes where they were heavily involved with the plot it usually began with Al not understanding and being repulsed and then coming to accept them by the end.
Edit: As Krejlooc pointed out, Marcy's cousin is one example and in another an old highschool football friend of Al's turns out to be transgender.
They make some very dark comments about homosexuals in some of the early seasons. The cousin episode was well handled, but Al in the early years was brutal on the issue

Yeah the Bundy's never really disliked each other so much as they disliked their low quality of life and they kind of blamed each other for it. It was still all love though. At the same time Married with Children was the funniest sitcom, it also might be the most heartwarming.
