I was beginning to forget what Marvel had looked like at their best. We need more of this, keep it grounded like the pre-end game years.

Is the a Fury only film. We want spandex suits.

Coming to D+ so I guess I will watch it.

It's a limited series... Based on the comic storyline of the same name ... But different.

Ben Mendelssohn and Martin Freeman reprise their roles and Emilia Clarke plays Ben's grown daughter from Captain Marvel

This looks great. Samuel L. Jackson rules as always, and Ben Mendelsohn was great as Talos. I really enjoy Ben in everything he's been in: Rogue One, Ready Player One, and the HBO miniseries based on Stephen King's The Outsider, so I look forward to seeing what he does in the future.

I remember being so excited for marvel shows and movies...now i am just like "meh" ... does not feel special anymore after endgame

This looked very bland, there is a reason why Samuel Jackson is never the lead role. Because he's just not that guy.

And the hobbit never really fits in action movies.

The villain looked dumb. I can't see any redeeming qualities here, very strange thing to make a movie about whatever this is, in my opinion. Guess they had some leftover money to throw together something cheap with, try to angle the Marvel fans.

I'm sure it'll be a home run, like most of the other Marvel movies and TV shows (except She-Hulk... I mean it was okay, but easily my least favorite in the MCU). I honestly have no idea what this is going to be about, but the angle of this seems like it'll have big implications for the MCU moving forward. I loved the "Where are the Avenger's?" line. It kind of feels that way right now, even off the screen, like there isn't that unity among the Avenger's like there was before. Like they are scattered and the bad guys are starting to move in on everything. Looks fun, can't wait to check it out.

Offtopic a bit but I just want to see my man Spider-Man grown up and leading the future Avengers like Stark would've wanted or at the very least Ant-Man. Imagine if the bring the other 2 spideys to lead cuz they actually look like adults. If they put that cringe Ironheart or whatever the fuck was her name as a lead Im peacing out. Also bring back the old angry Hulk back, spare the cringe green pussy Banner shit. Also give the Capt shield to Bucky because I hate Mackie as an actor, he's so condescending and annoying all the time. He was shit in the Falcon, he was shit in Altered Carbon. This would be the ideal change for me if they want me back in the MCU.

So it's about aging … again. Didn't we have that in Hawkeye already?
Regarding the ending, I sensed smth like that because
she wasn't in the opening credits
. But with a show based around shape shifters, you never know.

What I liked so much was the spy thriller vibes it was giving from the first 20 seconds... And it kept going!

This isn't meant to be an action heavy, superhero infused, mega cgi blockbuster... It's more contained, grounded and has a smaller, focused story... I LOVE that!

So this show explains why Fury was chilling on a spaceship while someone that looks like him was running around in.....damn, I forgot. Spiderman 2?

It's not an in-depth explanation but it is explained. Talos was impersonating Fury on Earth after everyone was unblipped.

Apparently the opening was AI generated and there is drama. I like it.

AI generated art can look a lot better than this. This is early AI art with the smeared faces and strange brushstrokes, used in a creative matter to set an appropriately spooky tone where anyone can shapeshift into someone else. This is a smart and artistic use if the technology.

Show continues to be great. Nice to see the Mr. eats shit for breakfast again.

Happy Gilmore Cinema Supremo GIF

Somehow I have the feeling with this series that I am missing important information. I've seen all the Marvel movies and most of the series, but I don't understand Nick Fury's character and he just looks silly with that huge scar. And there is so much talking without really saying anything important.

I've seen 3 episodes. Won't be watching any more. Very boring. I don't care about the plot and I don't care about the characters.
They kill so many characters, but as a viewer, you don't care at all. Weird series.

I stopped watching in the middle of the second episode. There's something about the aliens makeup. They look like they should be extras sitting at the bar in Star Trek TNG.

It breaks my immersion and gets me laughing 😄

I stopped at the same time because it was boring and uninteresting.

This is true for lots of stuff that 'ought' to be in full swing here. No Witcher S3 thread, no FUBAR thread, no solid Star Trek thread, etc. Too much poo-pooing about it for the enthusiastics to stick around or the shows just aren't that great to begin with. At least we had a good House of the Dragon thread and discussion.

Off-Topic is dead and replies to modern media stuff is always the same anyway

- The CGI looks bad
- I hate Capeshit
- Some guy who lives in his moms basement made a 3 hour video about why this show/movie sucks *insert link*
- a woman yelled at a man. this show is too woke

Like what the above two said, no one can really have a discussion if not many here really watches the content anymore. Maybe there's a neoTAF out there that is primarily a place for TV and movie conversation.

"How dare they to make Nick Fury black!"

Binging also hurts discussion, as it's hard to track who is where in the show, or even what ep had what happen. Weekly drops are far better for water cooler discussion IMHO.

But the reality is there are few shows that can get that critical mass since everything is all spread out, folks pop in and out of watching (I have a ton of half completed shows), and there were never very many that merit discourse in the first place.

If The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Deadline, The New York Times, or other reputable sites point out that Hollywood is having struggles with their products, do those reputable places fall into your listed categories as well? Extremism is bad, but being objective never is.

Critics, not fans, gave this show middling reviews. A whole lot of other franchises with previously good reputations have gotten bad reviews recently, and it's not just from the disgruntled members of society.

I saw the Star Trek Picard thread for season three. A show that previously shit the bed turned it around with Terry Matalas as the shortener. That thread changed and reflected the positive quality of the show. I'm not new to GAF, far from it.

Exactly. People that are interested in any show just don't even bother anymore. It's full of posters that are not interested in it just shitting on it. No room for any discussion. So people engage in their hobbies elsewhere. This place has turned super negative to everything.

As Jason above me said. House of the dragon was the last positive discussion this place seemed to have. Let's not forget how much shit was thrown at it when the trailers were dropped. Black Targaryens? Woke!
