Binging also hurts discussion, as it's hard to track who is where in the show, or even what ep had what happen. Weekly drops are far better for water cooler discussion IMHO.

This definitely helps why new anime series still get plenty of people talking online still. Barring a few exceptions, almost every anime still airs weekly, so generally everyone knows where everyone is at on a new series if they’re caught up.

These Marvel TV shows are so boring, don't even kid yourself to think they are any good or worth watching just because its Marvel.

I forced myself into watching WandaVision and Loki and looking back now, they were okish at best, i tried to watch Moon Knight and Hawkeye but was so board after 2 ep's I didnt bother watching the rest.

Forget Winter Solider and She-Hulk, complete crap.

This new one, Secret Invasion is another dull show.

Marvel is so saturated now, the post Endgame movies arent good, the TV shows are worse, they appear to be riding a wave of mediocrity which is going to kill the MCU.

Disney need to pull it all back in, one Marvel movie a year, one TV show and put all resources into that.

I really don't understand why Ms.Marvel is constantly being pushed by Disney/Marvel as the mascot to replace Spider-Man.

She failed in comics, failed in video games, and now failed on D+.

She's not replacing Spider-Man. Where did you get that? That's ridiculous.

What the heck are you looking for, then? Michael Bay?

Secret Invasion, so far, has been good in my opinion.

I have yet to watch episode 5, but I found it anything but good so far. It's a series where I'm cleaning up or doing something else around the house, because nothing is happening and my attention isn't really being demanded.

I've watched three episodes so far and with every finished episode I've got to push myself to start watching the next episode. This is one of the weakest Marvel TV series on D+ and it's a slog to watch. It's mind boggling that this cheap looking show could have cost 200 million dollars. Where did all that money go? Did it cost that much to hire Martin Freeman and Cobie Smulders for their short appearances?

The budget is probably due to inflation during when the pandemic was in full swing. Not to mention all the international locations. London, Germany, Finland... But I'm just guessing.

I actually liked Hawkeye best (though i love the comic it´s based on), then Loki and WandaVision. The rest was forgettable. Didn´t even try to watch MsMarvel.

Secret Invasion in the comics was an amazin event, but without the high names in the show, you can´t have them copy the Avengers or other superheroes. The limits of tv clearly show.

Disney likes to film movies in UK because of financial support from the UK government. It actually saves them money, they can reclaim 25% of the budget that way. This could even explain why the budget of Secret Invasion is so crazy high, since they can get back 50 million dollar, thanks to the UK tax payer who probably has no idea his hard earned money is frittered away for this crap.

Starting on January 1, 2024, the Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) will cover both types of animation production. Movies could previously only claim 25% of budget through the Film Tax Relief, so this jump to 39%—and the parity with TV—is good for the country’s entire animation industry, according to a statement from trade org Animation UK, which lobbied for the change and celebrated the news today.

This Show is Just garbage. The mcu is really a Shadow of its Former self and this Last Episode was Just man bashing and plain boring. How can they claim to have spend on this 200 million 🙈

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm enjoying nu-Trek specifically Strange New Worlds and Picard season 3 more than any Marvel or Star Wars streaming series. And the budget actually looks like they put some effort into it and not cheap like Obi-Wan.

idk if it was said in this thread, but yeah it's the marvel version of prestige t.v. so yeah it's bad and the creators are punching way above their weight.

Secret Invasion was a shit event. OMG Spider-Woman is a Skrull. Like most mid-to-late 2000s Marvel events it was terrible. Much like One More Day. Marvel took One More Day and turned it around into No Way Home and redeemed the concept from the comic story. Secret Invasion is the same. The Skrulls infiltrating governments to trigger WW3 and erase humans from the planet is a much better use of the concept than the comics.

One of the worst. It feels so cheap, the plot is uninteresting and characters are forgettable. No idea why they made this.
Why are so many Star Wars and Marvel streaming shows looking so cheap as of late?

I'm watching Picard season 3 and Strange New Worlds and those shows look like they actually have a good budget with good special effects and scenery. Weird how nowadays Star Trek is looking better than Star Wars in that department.

Truthfully I think it’s passion, or lack there of. Picard s3 and SNW are made by very passionate teams who care a lot about the material. I don’t get the same impression from the last few Marvel productions.

I think some of that blame goes to these Disney shows being nobodys passion. Star Trek has a long legacy and I would think most SFX guys like to nerd on that stuff. The cost difference seems to be secret invasion 220 mil and strange new worlds 180 mil budget. Both shows use same kind of virtual production setup where backgrounds and lighting are integrated real time on the led screens. Disney especially likes that setup.

I've seen some screenshots from the finale of this show and I feel embarrassed for anyone that actually spent their time watching it.

I get that some people out there have their allegiances, but surely by now even the most diehard MCU fan must realize that the Disney+ shows are the absolute bottom of the barrel. I consider myself a DC fan in general, but I know better than to watch any of the DC CW shows for instance....

The best way to sum up the show is Nick Fury taking a long, wet fart and Olivia doing a little jig.
It would have been as effective.
Somehow, they made the whole thing boring.

Well that ending wasn't very satisfying. I guess I have to consoom the next movies to find out what happens next.

But that opening theme is a real banger so money well spent.

Having finally finished the last episode this is easily marvels worst blunder.

Yeah she-hulk and miss marvel are shite but that at least had people thinking they were genius' when making it, they tried to add style and dialog and motivations (again completely shit output, but they tried nonetheless)

But secret invasion just feels like no one cares, the show is ugly and has literally no style or thematic reasoning, it's moderately directed and let's be honest, these days marvel producers direct, the director is just a figure head, the plot is just bland and uninteresting. I mean even the intro they just used AI instead, honestly how sure are we that this wasn't written by ai also?

What makes it the biggest failure is the fact that this could've easily been knocked out of the park, first of all more than 6 eps, fuck the massive budget, you don't need all famous actors, the hidden in plain sight concept could've easily been expanded, get rid of the superhero shit and for God sakes no one wants to see old man broken fury. Surely the writers aren't that stupid

I have now seen the last episode. Ufff that was even worse than I expected. That final fight just looked silly. It wouldn't surprise me at all if not only the intro was made by Ai.

So very glad I stopped watching all this Disney + shit a few years back. Feels like I've saved myself an awful lot of wasted time. I've only bothered watching Guardians 3 out of all the Marvel product for a while now.

Secret Invasion finale is currently the lowest-rated MCU TV episode ever

The Secret Invasion finale is now officially the lowest-rated episode of a Marvel TV show of all time.

The sixth and final episode of the series currently has a score of 13% on the review aggregator site, a considerable downturn from the previous episode's 50%. To compare to the finales of Marvel's other most recent TV shows, the She-Hulk finale scored 73%, the Ms. Marvel finale got 95%, and the Moon Knight finale has a score of 85%.

Despite an all-star cast that also included Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Ben Mendelsohn, the series seemingly failed to connect with both critics and viewers – viewing figures were also down considerably. In fact, the series premiere had the second-lowest audience numbers of any Marvel show, with only 994,000 US households tuning in during the episode's first five days on Disney Plus.

I thought this would be garbage, shapeshifters are story poison if used too much. Once you realize anyone can be another person impersonating them nothing has any significance.
While it worked with Picard season 3, it was poison in Voyager when they did that with Species 8472.

I don't understand who at Marvel greenlit the story decisions in the finale, but that was truly truly abysmal. Why would we even take any threats seriously in future MCU movies/TV series anymore when G'iath can just take care of it in a matter of seconds.

Why on earth would the president go as far as to nuke Russia anyway? That was way over the top. No president would do that.

He was attacked by Russian (to his knowledge) forces. That is a declaration of war. So yeah, that's on the table. Wouldn't have happened that way since you need Congress to legally declare war but this is TV ...

Ivory declares war anymore, they do special military operations that escalate ;).

I haven't watched this, because I don't hate myself, but am I right in believing they basically X-Men Origins Wolverine Deadpool'ed Emilia Clarke? That whole 'all of their powers spliced into one person!' bullshit?

The Super Skrull in the comics "only" had the powers of the Fantastic Four, not the powers of a whole arsenal of super heroes including the Hulk and the already overpowered Ms. Marvel.

...and? The FF aren't in really in MCU yet so the same principle of a multi powered skrull applies; Emilia Clarke wasn't "deadpool'd", the basis is a character that has existed for 60 years.
And if you want to talk about "overpowered", invisible woman's abilities alone would shut down anything this MCU super skrull could attempt.
