Marvel teases death of X-Men?

What's the context of this?

Beast brought the original 5 teenage x-men to the present (their future) to show them how much of a fuck up Cyclops is, and now cant send them back, so he messed with the space time continuum in a obvious huge way

Cyclops: "The Phoenix is coming back to restart the Mutant race and Hope will be the host."

Captain America: "No fuck you Cyclops your wrong and under arrest! Instead We're going fuck with a cosmic force we don't understand. Although technically we could ask You who was married to a Phoenix host or your Alternative reality Daughter that was Host to The Phoenix for years."

Cyclops: "God Dammit cap..."

The Avengers try and kill the Phoenix and manage to Fuck everything up.

Captain America: "OK we have to get the Phoenix to go into Hope."

Cyclops: "God Dammit Cap...."

Captain America: "Fuck you! Your under arrest!"

its funny because its true

Well... it would be nice. Marvel are treating the mutants as c-tier right now. At least Old Man Logan is enjoyable

What's the context of this?
Beast is very, very angry with Cyclops and his little mutant revolution (got to admit, Scott is a dick) but Hank stupidly pulls the original X-Men (Scott, Jean, Bobby, Warren and young Hank) from the past and wants to show the younger Cykes what he will become in the future. But he can't send them back to their own time. It was a very selfish reason though for ripping them out of their own time and well, the young X-Men are pretty scarred because of it. That's why Uatu is mad at Hank.

Well at least we got the young Cyclops series where he travels with the Starjammers out of it.

I just like the struggle and the discrimination. They werent just cap wearing hero's. Some of them were born into powers that they struggled to learn how to use... It's something that I don't like about supers like Iron man, Captain America etc etc.... Like there was a power struggle that I loved that the X-men had that made them interesting.

Edit: Also..... X-men introduced me to Marvel so I have a very huge part of my heart that is dedicated to their existence.

i get this. but it shortchanges the non mutant heroes quite a bit too. (minus iron man. fuck stark)

but i understand not wanting your faves to be shit on, but often times interesting things do come from it. as a daredevil fan trust me on that. he gets shit on like no other

hope gets the phoenix

"i cant control it!"

so what he expected to happen wouldnt have and it would have fucked them

you can call it bullshit all you want, but outside interference was needed. hence, cyclops was lucky

Remender's Uncanny X-Force was the last truly great X-Book.

Wolverine and The X-Men also had its moments, but the Frankenstein arc and crossover hell did a ton of damage.

Yeah, I feel this way as well. Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men was decent as well. Everything else X-Men related was disappointing.

Aaron's Wolverine & The X-Men is roughly 157 times better than Remender's highly overrated Uncanny X-Force

In my opinion of course

i like how this ignores how crazy that first line is

Cyclops' plan was to hijack a cosmic deathbird (which is notorious for making its hosts go apeshit) to force normal ass humans with latent x genes into becoming freaks of nature

just because he needs more soldiers to fight his revolution for him

that is literally magneto's evil plan from the first x-men movie

Technically since humans and inhumans are basically remnants of the eternal project, it's all good.
Basically the end game for humanity is to become Thanos who is a eternal. The Eternal of eternals

I really only know the x-men from all the cartoons and movies (with a few comic purchases sprinkled throughout), but it seems like a lot of people are ok with this. Me? This would make me sad.

Technically, the solution required Iron Fist and Scarlet Witch to enact. The biggest issue was that Captain America never talked it out first, he came into the someone else's house and made unilateral orders.

Nah, he just wanted to reignite the X-gene. Any revolution following that was just the way things shook out.

Seriously, people getting bent on mutants having a fighting force in the Marvel Universe - where Sentinels, Reavers, Weapon X, and the Purifiers exist - is simply ignoring the truth. Mutants will never get a fair shake because of the narrative rules of the MU and as such, Cyclops being more militant will always be right.

Wolverine and the X-Men was a giant monument to "Cyclops was right, you need to teach mutant kids to fight". That's the problem, the overall X-Men narrative will always prove his point, because conflict drives the stories.

Some of the kids were already fighting when they got there, and that was the problem. It was really about "Mutant kids need guidance. Great power and all that...".
Meanwhile Scott was a eugenicist.

you would think he would preach mutant pride first and foremost. because like before, there are far more mutants in hiding then there are known as x-men

Scott was about "I'm sick of people fucking with my kind like we are sub human trash"

Schism was terrible though and put Logan in a position he had no right to be in. Everything post that wouldn't nearly have been as dumb if they had pushed Storm instead of him against Scotts viewpoint.

as a war machine, he would be fitting.

It's not just for that reason. Marvel has been toying with limiting Mutants a lot in the past 15-20 years, because they fuck up the whole Marvel Universe. How can other Superheroes have impact when something like 1 in 100 people (it was that high pre-House of M I think) have the Mutant Gene? They have to limit the number of Mutants periodically to make sure there aren't hundreds of thousands of super-powered beings on Earth at a time. This is why I personally don't mind Fox having the X-Men movies, because mutants in the MCU would break everything. It's better that they have to come up with clever ways to avoid them--using the Inhumans, making SW/QS science experiments.

The thing is, the MCU now has inhumans in a pretty similar situation (lots of them randomly being granted powers over the world in Agentsof SHIELD).

The movies just ignore them.

How the hell is "Pride" going to keep you alive when there about 5 different groups that want to kill you, 3 of which probably have government backing.

No Cyclops just ran out of fucks to give and wasn't going to just accept mutants being hunted down and killed for the crime of existing.

For all intents and purposes, the X-Men movies do nothing for them.

It's hilarious to me that they think they can kill the X-Men movies by cutting off X-Men comic books and merchandise, when at this point the truth of the matter is that the movies are what's driving sales of comics and merch. The X-Men films do everything for Marvel, letting them sell all kinds of high-margin junk to people. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

having mutants not hate themselves to the degree that their hiding in sewers feeding off of rats and shit means you have more mutants with various powers united behind your cause. you can train them however you want then. and on top of it you would be saving those in the sewer from predator x and purifier attacks. noone reached out to the morlocks outside of storm, and thats a lot of mutants that could prove useful. although since most of them arent the best looking, scott probably doenst have much use for them

The MCU is barely connected between the movies, Netflix, and the TV shows.

TV is the little brother constantly looking for attention from the movies but keeps getting ignored and Netflix is the mysterious brother who left and is doing his own thing.

I wish they would bring it all together. In some small way. An Inhuman here a Spiderman cameo there.

Forever and always. Amen.

What books are they cutting off exactly? We just got a series about the Worst X-man ever* and there's like 6 mutant related ongoings. Seems like they are doing about as good a job killing the X-Men than they are making Carol Danvers an interesting character.

*not Gambit related
Forever and always. Amen.

Hopefully this means a reboot for X-men. I still read Extraordinary and Old Man Logan but I've been tired of the 500 X-men comics a month thing for a long while. Also It's just not been the same without Professor X. I actually enjoyed seeing him back during Secret Wars.
