I just don't know how to approach this game. I want to make my own team and learn to play with it. But the problem is that I have absolutely no experience with MvC, or fighting games in general for that matter. Certainly not enough to figure how to do 20 or 30 hit combos on my own using a weird combination of cancel/assists and possibly resets. But I don't want to learn to play sentinel just because his assist is great and you keep him in reserve the whole time until the other two characters are dead so you can x factor and dish out crazy damage.

Why not make your own team and learn to play it?

Seriously though, is it just worrying about getting smashed online continually? I know that can suck a bit, but it feels really good when you finally learn to take a match or two. I'm personally of the opinion that tier lists and OP characters really matter the most at the very top levels of gaming. For low to mid level players you really can go very far just by playing smart with whatever team that you want. Plus if you pick less used characters you'll be able to surprise players who are used to Wolverine, Dante and Sentinal all the time.

Might just me my opinion on this, but SSFIV was super fun for me when I switched over to Dan (the worst character in the game). Just don't sweat the W/L record and learn to get better with whoever you want to play as.

Need to see phoenix in ricky ortiz's hands. Haunts has said we are gonna see some real salt in the veins type ish..

Also Hsien Ko needs no nerf. Sent does but not hsien ko.

I don't play enough fighting games to actually have any experience with learning characters from the ground up and figuring out and making my own combos. Which is that much harder where you have to pick three characters and take their possible assists into consideration. At this point I think I settled on Wesker but otherwise I have no idea who to pick for the other two spots.

Can't wait for someone to do that to me online

for people who use mag, what do you use for your bnb air combo? the one with the flight cancel or the one like MvC2 where he lands and jumps back up? i suck serious ass when trying to land for some reason :[ but when you fuck up the flight cancel sometimes i tag my partner in, so, that really sucks

She's not going to be that popular at first because she's new and there's a huge red flag because of the health. Seeing a character die in 5 hits is a huge turn off to most, but not for the masochists.

Once you get past the bleeding issue, you'll see that she's Chris, Doom, Chun, Trish, Wesker, and Storm all wrapped into one character. Yeah, she's got low health but it doesn't matter nearly as much as in this game as it would in others because almost everyone can be dropped in 5 seconds anyways. The only difference between Phoenix and the rest of the cast is that she can die from dropped combos instead of the huge heavy hitting combos that end in hypers - HOWEVER you've still got to get past the player's normal defenses. Its not like she can't block. Hell, because of her zoning and speed, she's even harder to touch than most and you have to take much greater risks when approaching her as well.

Right now, the streams are filled with comboez and such. It probably won't even be apparent in the first few tournaments. But the end is coming. I've seen it.

I agree, i just think your gonna have to pretty good to play her, unlike Sentinal who's god like no matter what lol.

I go for basic L, L, L, M, H, S, L, L, M, H, S -> Sentinel rocket punch assist -> qcb+ATKATK

Deals a great "free" amount of damage.

Are you planning to make a combo video? Don't overwhelm yourself.

There is no wrong choice. There might be better and worse choices, but there are no wrong choices for characters in those two spots. It's not so much knowing who's better for those spots, but finding.

Sent really isn't that bad...

For me, the most rage inducing characters are Skrull and Cap's shield.

This makes me happy.

I loved going through shit in MvC2 with it.

Iron man's photon cannon? if I was close enough I could shield dash through it, chug like the little engine that could and hit him to interrupt. Won a match that way.

NOT A SINGLE FUCK WAS GIVEN THAT DAY.

Can't wait till I have the dough for this game and dash the fuck outta some people with his super shield.

I suppose I don't see it as something to be really Rage about considering it's not a beam that goes across the screen. A player has to time it right and it has to travel to the taget... so there's factors that make it a bit more strategic than a photon cannon or any other beam move that's virtually instant in terms of screen movement to the target.

Yeah Sentinal doesn't really look to out of control to me either, he just looks really easy to use, but it seems people are already figuring out how to lock him down. Then again i have only done mission and training mode, so i really don't know shit, thiis game is so new to me.

I'm having the same problem I did with MvC2 - no matter what, everything my opponents do is always safe and no one ever leaves any openings. It's kind of frustrating.

A week prior to mvc3 release date I managed to pretty badly pull an upper leg muscle which resulted in inflammation and eventually a pinched nerve. Sitting/laying down are pretty painful so even though I have been home for the last 2 days, I have not even been able to dedicate much time to the game. Wackness.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Cap's shield for singlehandedly neutralizing every weapon in the known universe.

Yeah, he is really easy to learn and use though... the thing is, most people telegraph the fuck out of everything with him.

Would you guys recommend this to a beginner at fighting games? I've been playing and enjoying Super Street Fighter IV and am interested in this. I can't seem to figure out what the consesus on the game is here? Lukewarm-ish mostly thanks to a lot of missing features and characters (to be added in the future as paid dlc)?

Just a reminder, tonight we will be streaming mvc3 at wnf. We are doing a 64 man tournament and exhibition matches with Justin wong, marn and others. We have a lot of big name ssf4 players playing MVC3 tonight so definitely want to check it out.

Because of the success of our 1 year anniversary raffle we will be raffling of 4 copies of MVC3 (2 ps3 and 2 360) and an xbox 360 slim tonight to the stream viewers. Also if you tweet with the hash tag #WNF we might feature it on the stream. There is chance we might do call ins too provided we can get it working.

It's not really the wait and punish game that SF4 is. In Marvel the best defense is always a good offense.

yassss

Edit: what time?

Played it for a good 7 hours lol. I love HULK. There is nothing I would change about him now. Finished his mission mode too (on a controller).

My usual team is the RED team: Red Hulk, Spider-man, and Deadpool. I'll put Red She-Hulk and Viewtiful Joe in there too.

I am disappoint with Spidey. They needlessly changed his web swing from a backwards hadoken to a backwards drangon punch. This makes comboing a little less intuitive. Funny thing is spidey has no moves that take the spot of a backwards hadoken anyway so why they changed it seriously bothers me. Other than that I think he's more or less the same.

Deadpool is a little wierd so I have to practice with him more. I love Viewtiful Joe. Hes hilarious and amazing. She Hulk is pretty boss too, she's kinda like el fuerte

I also went online and destroyed some guy earlier today using Team RED. Honestly Hulk makes the game feel like MVC2 and that makes me happy.

Now for serious cons:

As I initially thought, X-Factor is broken. Yes I've used it strategically to destroy my opponent but I feel dirty. Its an easy button. I feel like your playing a competitive game then all the sudden anyone anytime can basically change this competitive mode into a cheap easy spam fest. Like Immediately going from a tournament setting to simple mode if that makes sense.

Super Jumps have been nerfed and it pisses me off-more than X-factor! Once you jump, your parabola is set and you cannot diverge from it. In the old game you could slightly change the outcome of your landing to land near or on the opponent. Not anymore. Lots of superjump gaffes. (It feels like Brawls tripping, in so far that you have little to no control over it)

Basically the game feels LESS responsive than MVC2. It takes longer to get up. You cannot control yourself in the air. And some of the inputs are just awful.

Like I said, Hulk (and She-Hulk to a lesser extent) makes the game far better for me. If it weren't for him I probably wouldn't play it anymore.

Are you kidding? Sentinel is dangerous, strong and healthy but he doesn't need nerfed. You can juggle him like nobody's business and keep away eats him alive if the person can teleport. Viewtiful Joe has a really nasty series he can pull off a wall that ends in Dante's infinite strike. If you can make it back to Joe's red hot mach speed thing he'll even put Sentinel back into the air to keep it infinite.

In a game with this many options per character a good player can make Sentinel appear free. My shout out goes to Phoenix against him though. He's just too damn big to do anything but eat chips when she's out.

Magneto Guide went live today with a few bread and butters. The combo video should be up shortly as well. Hope it helps. :)

Nice! Not a bad turnaround time for my CE to ship from Amazon and I didn't have to fret about dialing every game stop, Target, Best Buy, Toys R US and Sears in my area.

Ordered yesterday and it will be here tomorrow...yay I get to unlock everything all over again on PSN now.

Know best way to win against someone who saves Pheonix for last? Just block. Let time run out after you get her to half life, I ain't turning you into a queen bitch from hell.

It's such a troll.

Got a question that I haven't been able to find the answer to in the thread or the manual. On the page where you can set your title, there's requirements that state "Complete Event #" where the number is 1 through 50. It doesn't seem to be character missions, since I've done a handful of those without getting any of these titles, and besides, there's way more than 50 of those.

So anybody know what events are and how to access them?
