So are the missions like that training mode thing in SFIV? Where you have to perform certain combos to proceed?

If so, does it show you what inputs you need to do or just the names of the moves?

Names you have to press pause and select move list to see how to do the required mission names, and to see the full list to anticipate what's next. Well unless you look at the list as it scrolls as your dude is fighting.

PS3 NeoGAF online tourney registration thread is up!!!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=25963598#post25963598

Top winner will get this.

(Yeah yeah, I know it's a picture of the 360 version)

Second and third place will also get prizes.

How the fuck can Backbone's port of MVC2 have better online than this? It's a bit of a hype killer when you spend an hour getting viewtiful combos down then when you take them online you can't hit the H after Joe's DP for shit.

If your copy is somewhere besides indiana then it might be fine. The indiana update is from the fulfiller side(digitalriver) not at the usps side. Im betting they just scanned boxes to stop people from calling but they actually hit the usps side later or not ever in some cases.

Lol still waiting for someone to tell me what's wrong with training mode?

Nothing wrong with it... just nothing special a ton of other games haven't done before. The game's challenge mode isn't that great for sure though.

Eh, that's not so good especially for someone like me.

Finally got the game.

Oh my. Amazing. Wolverine is pretty fun.

I'm up for some games later if anyone wants to practice on PS3. Note that I am terrible - I have 30 minutes experience. I already have my team tho - Logan, Zero and Storm, baby. PSN Tigerheli.

I'm strictly talking about training mode, I don't see any problems with it, everything you need is there with many options down to assist type.

A lot of these gripes about online sound the same as SF4 did originally, so why couldn't they put their experience and knowledge on that to good use?

Well that's exactly what they're doing. People bought vanilla SF4 with no lobbies, replays, etc. It allowed Capcom to jock the "for the fans" bit later for SSF4 with "Oh look, we listened to all your feedback and added all this into Super!"

They're just doing it again with MVC now.

It's a good mode. Some might pair the training and mission modes together. Mission mode isn't that awesome. One of them should show you every ability of your character and teach you something. Training mode should have been called The Lab. Mission mode is ok (would have rather the SF4 missions or something more than throw awkward combos on the list). There should have been a real training mode that teach you about your characters, rather than you having to figure it out from combo lists, or discovery as you press buttons in training mode.

They didn't need as much processing power for the engine, which freed up more CPU cycles for the netcode.

I mean there's nothing wrong with the training mode, but there's nothing special about it either.

Also, they don't really explain shit. If it weren't for people in this thread letting people know about some of the more important things such as KO, dummy record, and screen reset options, I'd probably be a lot more agitated with it tbh.

Same way on the PS3.
Arcade mode and turn fight request on. Works like a charm.

Aside from Gaf Chat this is pretty much what I've gotten used to since SFIV vanilla. I actually think it's the superior way to get a match up any way and now it actually works in most of the modes. Speaking of which my SE should be waiting on my door step for me :) I might have to do another pringles run since I couldn't wait and snagged the 360 version to compensate for the wait.

I just got the game and I have no idea what any of those things you just mentioned are :p

You know what'd really be nice for training mode? A way to zoom in and zoom out. With the way that zoning and off screen shit goes down, I'd love to be able to perfect setups by being able to see more.

Word. I'm going to gamestop to preorder killzone 3 right now - you can beat me up in about 30 :p
30 minutes is da game! But I'll be online and free later on tonight.

Ryan: If you could replace one body part with a bionic replacement, which would it be?

I hope you all learned the biggest no-no when it comes to mega games you're dying to have - never, ever, EVER ever order online - there is always a store that sells early.

I'm lucky that I get the hook-ups for early sales for who knows how many years now so I never order games of that level of necessity online, only the games I wait on.

He's got horror movie speed. You can run, dash, super jump, and teleport.... but he's still gonna get you.

This is seriously the most apt description for a character's movement speed in ever. :lol

For me it's the other way around. Never ever ever try to get them in person, they will always never have the shipment yet. Amazon release date delivery never failed me. But now, like after GTA4, I'm just going to say no to release date games, and wait for real reports from players and maybe price drops since they happen so fast. I expected capcom to up the online and use what they learned. 3rd strike, they're out.

I like the mission mode organization and think it is better than Super SFIV with fewer screens to go through and back to see what you've already done.

The real problems are: back button doesn't cycle between move names / operation directions like in Super SFIV, and for some batshit insane reason, the sequence list is organized in a way that doesn't let it fit on the screen, but runs down and out of view.
