I hate Sent. I can't beat him at all. He just spams the low beam, and when I get in, if I mess up once, he kills one of my characters every time. Sooo annoying. D:

Doom's Missile assist keeps Sentinel from spamming and lets you rush his fat ass down.

Found a relaunch with Shehulk using lei lei. Just call her out right before you go into runners->torpedo. Gives you enough time to recover and relaunch and follow up. Wonder how many reps are possible... guessing 2 only.

Wow, looks like word that Dante is awesome is spreading. I've run into him like 15 times in a row.

Of course my Dante beat their Dante's cause I spent a day and a half after release practicing all his moves and putting together combos.

So I get a ton of messages after I win asking how I pull off all the moves that require a double SRK input, or a well timed H or S at the end of a special. :D

He's been on almost every team I've fought since day one, haha.

Even if it got past the low beam spam, I can't even play Doom, rofl. My only character that I can actually play is Ammy. I can actually do a combo with her, rofl. My X-23 and my C.Viper rely on Ammy's cold star to get some good pressure down. Sad thing is if Ammy dies I basically lose. D:

I can't do the double srk on arcade stick at all. It's better on ds3. I spent a lot of time with the special to S combo thing. Seems even if you know it, it's still tough to nail consistently vs H. It's like right when the person is lifted off the ground.

I'm going back to DS3, I get frustrated and wiggle the stick frantically when I need a SRK but it won't come out. Nice buttons, but the stick isn't worth the accuracy. Would be cool if keyboards worked in this game. I could probably test if a hitbox would be good to have, or I could become comfortable with a keyboard.

What do you guys use for DS3/sixaxis setup? PSN guys that only use controller and pwn with it.

Get Viper to level 3 and punish a spit with her hyper or use her ex tkuckle to zoom right through it. Use X23 dive kicks or her srk motion super to punish spit. Begin rushdown with cold star.

I've gone back to my DS3 now as well. Like you said, the SRK movement I find really difficult on a stick. Also, once I'm fighting someone else and using a stick everything just seems to go to shit. Fine in training when there's no fighting back but I just mess everything up online.

Nevermind. I'll keep practicing with a stick as I guess there's a learning curve but I seem to simply do better with a DS3. Thinking of trying a fightpad.

Wesker is so good. Easy 500k for one bar, no assist. I know that other characters can do more for 1 bar, but not as easy mode as Wesker. I have to do crazy execution stuff to get that with Trish, but I think her potential is a lot better. Trish is the game's swiss army knife.

Fight pad would probably be nice. I had a saturn pad, was a knock off though and broke.

I use a stick, but I have lots of practice using it since I've been playing on sticks since...forever. I mean, I bought a stick for DOA4 since it was the first fighting game of this gen. DOA4! I don't even think that game was designed with a stick in mind!

Switched up to Tron / X / Chunners and am doing OK, but damn. Dante's giving me so much trouble, particularly when I have X-23 in. He's nearly as quick and has far greater reach than her, and as soon as he gets that one combo going that 90% of every Dante ever uses, X drops like a rock. Brutal.

Yeah, this is the first time I've used one so that's probably an issue. Just need practice.

If you're going up against a Dante, I highly recommend just blocking until you see one of his stronger moves. Once you defend that you can retaliate quite easily since his recover is a bit long.

I'm sporting this button config with the sixaxis:
Code:
   M L2 Assist 1 R2 Assist 2
L H L1 Nothing R1 L+M+H
    S

For X Factor, my thumb isn't big enough to press the 4 frontal buttons at once, and changing hand position to press all 4 with my palm is sorta annoying, so I use R1 + X to trigger X Factor.

Also, the Sixaxis pad is miles better than the DS3 pad...

I'm going to get buried alive for saying this but I think it's time for Capcom to seperate themselves from the pro community when making these games. They've completely lost touch with what it is a normal player is capable of compared to someone who does it for a living on a $200 stick.

Yea scrub, noob, idiot, I know.

Np, you're not a scrub, noob or idiot.

I agree.

Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur are, for my money, the deepest, most nuanced and most satisfying fighting games on the market.

Neither of those games require you to input crazy directional sequences. The moves themselves are easy to pull off. The skill comes through in knowing what moves to use in any given scenario, combine them effectively, sucker opponents in and capitalize on the openings they give you.

MvC3 could totally rely on those elements of fighting skill, but its buried under all these insane button inputs that makes the entire experience feeling mashy and imprecise.

Thanks, will do this. Actually I forgot I recieved some new Sixaxis pads. Good idea on that x factor setup.

Good looking out. I'll have to mess around with him some more in training to get a better look at his moves, see what's up. Maybe I can keep my X-23 from getting annihilated right off the bat by him now.
Doubtful.

While I agree with some what was stated, I disagree with MOST of it. Now, I'm the one who will buried alive in saying... MvC3 isn't as deep as 'some' people want to believe. But then again, I'm lowly scrub who only plays casually.

Man i was in a nice streak playing ranked games until i played a guy using Deadpool/Akuma/Dante. He just kept jumping back shooting me with Deadpool, and when i got close he would call in Dante's Jam session assist to give him time to get more space to start spamming again. After that loss i went straight to training mode since i had no idea how to deal with people that zone and practiced the hell out of Spencer/Spider-man/Sent.

Spider-man's air dash is perfect on closing distance, also Spencer's arm grab move is perfect too for closing distance or getting away.

Practicing with Spencer, i learned that his Bionic Arm move is freaking amazing.

What is this one combo that you guys say every Dante user uses?
The standard BnB combo probably which is the Marn combo. standard A,B,C,D then jB,jC,236L,C,D,jB,jB,jC,236C followed by Million Dollar. They could also follow up the MD with an XFC and another MD

Are there any videos of it, cause I really have no idea what all those symbols and numbers mean (never have). :P

Huh, this is odd. I didn't play yesterday, but today my execution is much improved over what it was Sunday. How did that happen? Do I get better by NOT practicing? I'm hitting the shoryuken motion well above 80% of the time today. Not complaining, mind you, but it's weird.

Also gave Tron a bit of a shake again. She seems to fit my playstyle pretty well after I got over just spamming drills, actually. Plus if I have two meter, you'd best watch out for Tron's lockdown projectile, or you're eating 400k damage just like that. I saw on one of the videos that Tron's Lunch Rush DHCs nicely into Morrigan's Finishing Shower. You know, i really should have thought of that combination earlier... Even better: It DHCs nicely into Darkness Illusion, too, and it looks pretty funny. All the servbots rushing to lunch, followed by Morrigan who, let's be honest, is doing the exact same thing. That one is vastly overkill for the meter cost mind you, but it's good to remember.

I should probably take Tron (Fire)/Morrigan (Kiss)/Felicia (Roll) up against real players online later today. This one might have potential. Flying high into the air with Morrigan and then have Felicia sneak in and hit low offscreen could be a dirty little trick, too. At least it gives the opponent something other than fireballs to worry about. Best of all, the team can be color coordinated: 2/2/2.

"Are there any videos of it, cause I really have no idea what all those symbols and numbers mean (never have). :P"

Translated to understandable notation: L(ight), M(edium), H(ard), S(pecial), [hold up to super jump to the opponent], jumping M, Jumping H, qcf (quarter circle forward, fireball motion) + L, (this takes you back to the ground), H, S, jumping M, Jumping M, Jumping H, qcf+H, guns super.

Just say no to Japanese notation.

I love how widely unique each character is. Even the shittiest character s have redeeming qualities. Over the next few yrs I can see a good majority of the characters being considered top tier. Just need top level players to unlock their potential

Had weird online issues today. Had two friends who live in Cali I wanted to play with. When player 1 invited us we couldn't get into his lobby. When I invited them only one of them could make it. Ended up having to have player 2 make the lobby, invite player 1, then player 1 invited me to finally all get in together. :/

Also the damage scaling in the game makes me sad sometimes. Last night I managed to find the sickest longest most bad ass shit ever to do with my team with Zero on point, but it ended up doing less total damage than the combo I showed you guys in a video on here. :(

This game is a lot of fun though, and mostly because going into it I came with the mindset of I don't want to be serious with it or even play any ranked. SSF4 it was all srz bznz and lead me to having only 20 games in me a day when I had free time before I just get exhausted. Playing MvC3 with the same mindset I have when I play Super Smash Bros lets me play it for hours on end having fun.

:)

First long combo after 9:36 mark.

I was wondering why people started using ABC (took me a while to figure it out), then this is the first time I saw D. Is L M H S too long and need further abbreviation? I can understand the numeric pad for directional a bit, and I guess the jab, fierce, short, etc. is more comfortable to people that grew up at the arcades (I prefer lk, hk, mp, lp).

First post ever! My teams bounce back and forth between X/Iron Man/Dormammu or Morrigan/Arthur/She Hulk. I keep running into spamming Dantes, Wolverines, Sents, Deadpools, Trishes, Ryus, etc. They made full screen attacking overpowered as hell. Then to make things worse, blocking is no longer able to be done through the cutscene like in SSFIV. In SSFIV, the moment I see the cutscene, I have a spilt second to decide whether I want to block, jump, input an Ultra of my own, etc. In MvC3, the moment that cutscene comes out if you aren't already holding block you are eating a full super hands down. That's ridiculous in my opinion. I shouldn't have to guess when to block.

For more Tron tricks, try pairing her with an OTG assist like Wesker low shot, Sentinel Rocket Punch, or my favorite, She-Hulk Torpedo. My go-to combo with 2 or more meters right now is:

j.H > land > M xx flame > j.M j.M j.H > land > M xx flame > j.M j.M j.H > land > M > launch > j.M j.M j.H j.S > land > She-Hulk Torpedo assist > H capture gun > King Servbot > H xx Lunch Rush.

Not the most damaging combo but I like it because of the intimidation factor of "Oh my god she never stops hitting me." With more meters you can DHC into whatever. If you have 5 meters for whatever reason you can DHC that into a level 3 like Gravity Squeeze and kill pretty much anything.

What is L?

You can do qcb+l after the qcf+h too, then if that connects mash C for shotguns, and then do the gun super from there. Or level 3 for extra flash.

Haha, oh yeah, that combo. I use variations of it too. Thanks!

Interesting, nobody uses the way easier combo to switch things up and catch people off guard. S, mash H, mash S. Throws him into the air, holds him in the air with gunshots, then slices at him while he's falling. Not great damage and easily broken up by an assist, but if they're always expecting that long combo, I like to keep them on their toes.

BTW, holding Special doesn't make me super-jump....weird. I have to hit up immediately to jump with them.
