I like how they made Phoenix actually. The standard Phoenix is supposed to weak willed and fragile but when DP awakes, shit hits the fan. She's arguably the most powerful character out of the group if you go by comics and all.

Regular Phoenix is ridiculously powerful. But she isnt the most powerful person here, even if she was Dark Phoenix, which is just Phoenix driven crazy.

The most surprising thing about Morrigan in this game is that she has 950K stamina. She almost completely evaded the Capcom Vagina Tax this time.

The default 4-button layout is:

L M
S H

with the assists on the shoulder buttons.

The default 6-button layout is:

L M H
S A1 A2

Though I don't really see why this matters when you can set it up however you like anyway.

Oh, thanks :-)

It is just curiosity, hehe. And I like to configure my stick closer to the arcade feeling. Even when configuring it Neo Geo style is not that good. (Is not that Neo Geo style is bad, but Neo Geo style in my arcade stick is bad)

I always play with default arcade controls . Just seems like how shit is supposed to go down.

Game isn't even officially out and these guys are passing some quick judgments on characters. =/

They have no idea... It's quite funny.

Edit: Yes, default controls people.

So who are the hidden characters? Akuma, Taskmaster. Wasn't there more?

Those 2, Sent, Lei-Lei. Takes 8k points to earn them all. Can earn by playing arcade mode, playing VS with friends, Playing online, leaving the game on in training mode for an hour or 2...

This.

I want to be good at this game so badly.

+1

I seriously don't know how I got this hyped and interested in this game/series over the past 3 or so months. I blame my "crossover whore" side. :lol

Silly question but will this game be in arcades as well? I wonder how Japan will take the game.
As far as i know there hasn't been any word(maybe i missed it). IMO they should wait until the inevitable balance patches hit the consoles then release it to arcades.

Dammit, of course she is... bah FU capcom.
It takes little to no time to unlock the characters though. You can even unlock them in versus, training, or by playing online.

From the streams I've been watching they seem very easy to unlock. All you need is PP (not sure of the exact number) and everything in the game gives you PP. Versus, Arcade, Training, Missions, I assume Online as well.

It shouldn't be too hard to get them at all. Not like SF4 unlocks anyway. All you have to do is play the game normally and they will auto-unlock.

Ferrio said:
I keep reading this, but no one actually said what you have to do to unlock them.
You get these points for doing anything in the game essentially. Someone said 4 arcade playthroughs will unlock them all. You get points for doing other things too so you can just play and you will unlock them really quickly

Anything you do unlocks characters but I think the fastest way is to just beat Arcade mode 4 times.

So these points used for anything else? Going to guess artwork unlocks etc? Seems silly add something like that for only 4 unlocks.

Also the points unlock other crap like comic art, game art, storyboards, little extras like that. Nice touches I guess. I assume it's just to get you to play all the parts of the game, but who knows.

The real question is that if the unlocks are so easy why even lock them in the first place? Dumb.
Apparently Japanese gamers like unlocking stuff.

If the game MUST have unlockables, I prefer it this way than the SF4 method of torturing yourself in Arcade mode over and over.

Just play the game, and in a hour you've unlocked most of the characters. Seriously, its super easy; I'm thinking they just made them locked to have a tagline on the box for marketing. Don't worry about the unlock process at all, play single player or vs mode and your good.

For all you UK people, it looks like the MvC3 stick is coming here after all. It's a Gameshark store exclusive, mind.

They seem to be good friends with the folks at PDP too :P

Has it been posited, by the way, that the reason for the Fantastic Four not being in the game could be because of the push they're getting as the FF? It just clicked with me the other day..
Plus there's the whole Super Skrull doing the job of all of them type-thing going on, ofc..

Yeah that is true. SF4 unlocks were horrendous.

ugh called 5 different EB games here in Canada looking for ANY kind of Madcatz arcade sticks.. no luck. Makes me mad that I didn't pick one up when I had the chance.

I thought I heard something about Madcatz no longer sending sticks up to Canada.. Is that true? Most of the EB places I called said they would probably get more in stock soon because this game is out soon but none of them had any way of checking.
Madcatz Kayane coupon might be the bestvbet if you can stomach shipping unless you live close to Washington then Frys would be a safe bet.

So many characters look hype I can't settle on anyone.

Is there any super that Morrigan can use in her aerial combos?

Darkness Illusion (Lvl 3) can be used in air, first of all.

Finishing Shower can combo in air after a C, or a Shadow Blade into F.Shower Apparently even mid screen.

After smashing back to ground, you can OTG with Shadow Servant, as well.

And she can always ground and go into Astral Vision for Mixups and such, too.

Finishing Shower and Darkness Illusion.

I don't think Shadow Servant can be used in air, but it does hit OTG.

CcrooK said:
Alright good deal. I was a little worried about Morrigan not being able to super into combos from the gameplay I've seen.

Oh, and bonus thing, She can land her lvl 3 from full screen distance off beam hypers ^_^ Shown to work with Chaotic Flame at least, so far.

Oooh, did Morrigan just do her spinning ankle blades, pause, and continue the combo with crouching A? Morrigan got links!

why did Edge mag give this a 7? What they say?

From the EDGE thread:

The game's obviously shallower than SFIV - it's a fan service game. But the problem is, the fan service stops short, because there aren't unlockable outfits and stuff. Though it is assumed they'll be offered as DLC in the future, there is just not enough in the actual packaged game.

Sounds kinda weak to me. Not sure what else they had to say.
