Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

Alright, so I just placed my preorder for the standard edition with amazon. I'm a prime member and in the past they'd always change the standard 2day shipping to release date delivery. However that was for preorders I placed weeks in advance. Anyone have experiences with them upgrading 2day to release date delivery close to actual release?

It's got that clunkier, indescribably 3D-Fighteresque feel to it that isn't present in any of Capcom's 2D fighting games, including the vs. series.

I'm talking out of my ass, it's probably all in my head.

Game's still gorgeous and relatively fast-paced.

:((((((((((((((((( I will cry if it feels like SFIV in terms of clunkyness. I want at least TVC feel.

from MvC3 facebook page:

A little birdie told me that tonight's special guest for the launch party has a house consisting of 36 chambers.

final version confirmed.

I don't think that is possible.

Anyone know what Seth Killian's team is? ..I can't remember that interview...

I think it was Dormammu and ....

Edit: nvm, i found it.

Skrull/Thor/Sentinel

If true this is epic.

I can't imagine them being more than $2.50 a piece but probably $5 for both will be the only way to get them. If they go $5 a character I imagine very low sales.

I think the Special Edition was just a bonus for fans not a cheaper way to get DLC characters.

I don't know.

Capcom charged $4 for costume packs in SF4. A character is worth more than a bunch of alternates in my mind, so an even $5 made sense to me.

You should be fine. I've done RDD at the last minute and still received the game on launch day. That's not to say the cosmos still won't conspire against you.

Funny enough, I had it the exact same way. Morrigan, Saki and Roll pretty much clicked for me in TvC. And this Morrigan is the same, but better? Excellent, I'll have to give her a spin, then.

Speaking of TvC... I wish Roll was in MvC3. I wanted to dump a giant bucket of water on Dormammu. Poor guy's head is on fire. If there's ever a Roll DLC, I'm so buying that.

No Batsu and Saki need to get in first.

It's so cool to experience a new MvC where it doesn't feel like a slapped together hackjob; the Marvel/Capcom backgrounds and music are beating the snot out of the irreverent 3d background bullshit and crap Jazz music in MvC2 (although that stuff's somehow acquired a nostalgic charm over the last 10 years).

It's a shame so much of the music here has a synthy/tinny sound, just like SF4. There are some neat standouts, but it's a headache to listen to so far.

Did we know you have to hold a button down for a second now to switch characters in? It's an adjustment.

I guess I haven't kept up on the gameplay changes the way most of you have. Bunch of surprises here. Launcher being tied to a new special button, only three basic attack buttons, a team super being relegated to just hitting two buttons together, etc. It's so easy to pull off amazing looking shit, even in Normal mode.

I think I'm the only person who agrees with you on that front. I just cannot stand most of the music I've heard at all.

Yeah, it's been common knowledge for a while. You can buffer it though. Like while you're doing a hyper, hold the assist button and you'll tag out the moment you regain control after the move finishes.

Seth said the 2 characters would be less than $10 so my personal guess is $4 per character (or $3.99 on PSN)

If true, that is a OK price.

Somewhere in the back of my mind a tiny frugal voice is screaming in alarm. But mostly I'm hyped to the point that I'd likely go double that and not blink. Capcom almost has a blank check from me on this one game.

The clunky argument is problematic in that it does boil down to personal perception, to a degree. Everyone has a different hand-eye interface and what is smooth to one person, isn't to another.

Add in the optical differences between sprites sliding around and 3D models with "infinite" depth perception / perspective scrolling, and it gets worse.

Some people think SFIV is slow and clunky, others thing it's responsive and smooth.

I've been assuming though, that Marvel 3 basically feels like a sped-up TvC as it is the TvC team and clearly a massively upgraded version of the TvC game logic and physics. And compared to SFIV, TvC is a light lighter and snappier (on purpose). A lot of the "clunk" in SFIV, I feel, comes from how weighty the characters are. They're pretty darn heavy.

Unless they mean $9.99 which would be kind of funny in a dick way actually.

But yeah, it'd be cool if they charge the same amount for characters as they did costume packs.

Some are ok, some aren't that great. I think TVC UAS had a much better OST. I prefer stage themes over character themes.

I would not be opposed to Saki. She was pretty good at keepaway. No, wait, she was a downright terror at keepaway. So many projectiles, and even a quick-firing unblockable one.

Yeah, I'd like to see Saki return as well. Roll/Saki was my trolling team. You could knock them down, but they keep coming back up.

You should still be able to select Release date shipping with Prime. I had prime when LBP 2 was about to launch and the option for release date shipping was missing on the Friday Night before. I called Saturday morning, and they said they couldn't fix it in time (even thought release date delivery was still an option for other games that Tuesday, it just was missing from LBP 2, and some developer would have to fix it days later) They extended me $15 off to cover the $9 1 day shipping. I still selected Free 2 day shipping, and I got the game on Wednesday.

My prime expired, but they had $.99 shipping for this game when I went to order it. It is nowhere under their list of $.99 release date delivery games.

It get's messed up a lot. Just call, and take your deal.

The stage themes are as good at the ones in TvC. Except for Yatterman's Workshop, which is super hype.

I hope they bring back Aensland Castle.

Word, absolutely, and I'm no fighting game expert at all. Played a bunch of the games casually, that's all. I don't know shit about frame windows, and could never pull anything more than a 10-hit air combo in MvC2 (plus maybe a super at the end of it, haha).

Haven't played TvC. Did they really use an engine of such a low-tier game for this big blockbuster?

I am indescribably happy at seeing the likes of Chris, Wesker, Phoenix and Zero hopping around my screen tearing shit up.

Magneto's new voice fucking sucks.

Phoenix's voice is about as close to the Fox series' as is possible. I know it's Jennifer Hale, who did Felicia Hardy on Fox's first Spidey series, si? She's great.

Trust me, you're not alone. Music is such a subjective subject, that there's been plenty of people divided on the musical style of the "revival era" Capcom fighting games. As many love it as hate it, and vis versa.

In the case of some folks, it seems a bit weird since they hate the new stuff, but love CPS2 and CPS1 (even cruder!) jangly 90's chiptunes. Nostalgia glasses? Dunno.

How much of the stage theme do you actually hear?

X-23 and She-Hulk feel like such tragically wasted character slots on this menu, with Wolverine and Hulk sitting right here too. Could've been like, Sigma and Gambit instead. Fuck.

A lot of the remixes just aren't done justice imo. Sentinel's MvC3 theme is still nice, but it lacks some of the punch of its COTA version. I didn't really like Morrigan's VH theme in the first place, but the MvC3 version is just downright grating and distracting to me. Ryu's theme isn't half as good as the TvC:CGoH version.

It ain't nostalgia glasses 'cause I didn't even get into Capcom fighters until SF4.

From the stream i was watching it seemed like x-23 was doing some crazy shit and plays differently than wolvie.

All Gambit and Carnage supporters should be locked away underground IMO.

She Hulk looks so cool. Cant wait for the wall jump mind games.

MvC 3 isnt an upgrade of the TvC engine.

Thanks, I was about to edit that to clarify THE PHYSICS engine of TvC. MvC3 is MT Framework, obviously.

However, they've even reused animation data from characters such as Ryu and Morrigan from TvC. Same team, some of the same technology, same tweaking, similar input logic, etc etc.
