VF5's woes outside of Japan are due to the style/characters imho. Not the balance.

Which is pretty weird, compared to Tekken. I mean.. it's TEKKEN. The game with a range of weird to the point of sometimes creepy asian stereotypes, and Tekken's odd "supermarionation" modeling and animation. But the Americans, they lurves it.

Sometimes, I think VF's biggest single weak spot outside Japanese audiences is its... classic... voice acting. You can hear a Virtua Fighter character a mile away, and to native English ears, the english speakers like Jacky and Lion sound god damn retarded. To fans, it's classic and funny; hell, even I like it and get a laugh out of it.

Must seem extremely lame to the uninitiated however.

Oh fuck that. VF4 sold quite well on PS2. VF5 had shitty timing. Fighting genre was down, Sega put out a half assed PS3 port (with none of the awesome shit VF4 had) then waited too long for the 360 port.
