Reading on SRK, he does have some stuff though. His AA assist does huge damage (150k) and his hyper rapes assists.

I believe his AAA also has a buttload of invincibility.

But still, AAA and Hyper, thats all anyone can find right now that makes him contend.

So disappointing. If they just buffed the fuck out of Ryu and then replaced Akuma with someone else it would have made more sense to me.

They probably saw that he was relatively well balanced in early builds and didn't tune him up when they developed later characters more in depth. He doesn't have an overhead, right? Should've him that especially considering his relatively small moveset that is immediately outclassed by Akuma.

If Ryu has a saving grace, it would probably be his damage output. Might be better to think of him more as a heavyweight type character in this game than the balanced character he's supposed to be.

Maybe.
 
That really doesn't make sense though. Isn't he relatively strong in TvC? Can he combo out of his overhead and dash cancel in that game?
 
Ryu has enough time to hit confirm a super if he lands a fireball, even from fullscreen.

I guess that makes him ok...sort of!
 
Oh shit, apparently you can change the sound effects back to the preview build package, including the level 3 activation sound.

That's interesting even though I have no idea what the differences are in sounds. However in the CES build, I remember hearing after neutral knockdowns from aerial combos, you hear a sort of firework sound effect. That changed in the final build?

This was mentioned on one of the streams yesterday that kept mentioning 'ryu tier', they basically said he does good damage but even hulk had an easier time getting in.

I'm not a huge fan of the default "punching sounds" and "hyper noise"

Sent is back, another 10 years baby --he is so good. Zero, and X-23 easy mode unblockable set-ups --super annoying. Everyone should at least experience x-factor Chun, she is so godlike, and her assist... Too good.


I'm deprived of sleep, at work, and all I want to do is play Marvel. I love this game.
 
Do you think it will be possible to use the Amazon $10 off code bonus, from preordering this game, on the strategy guide? Do it have to be a videogame, or can it be videogame related?

I'm pretty certain that it's just a generic coupon code. I'm not sure though, I always just recycle my amazon preorder bonuses into more games.

Seems like the VS games have always required you to play a bit of rush-down which completely goes against my normal turtle play style. i.e. I play Dhalsim in SF4. Any characters I should gravitate that might better fit that mold?

I thought about waiting on the internet guides, recycled info from the book, or possibly better info that is found out, Having that book would bring back good memories of the old days (Killer Instinct guide).

You can always play runaway. So far word on the street says Arthur and Amaterasu are pretty good for that.

Dormammu, M.O.D.O.K., Arthur, Storm, Chris, Deadpool*kinda*, Trish*kinda*, Sentinel*kinda*, Taskmaster*kinda*, Ammy*kinda*, Phoenix*kinda*.

Take your pick, half of them can fight close quarters too if needed.
