I still disagree with QisTopTier about stress, though. I started using an arcade stick in general specifically because I couldn't continue to wear out my right thumb without running into real and serious issues. Although this was actually during a stint of heavy Megaman X play several years ago.

Oh please. With her stupidly low HP I'll take what I can get. More cheese please!

55 pages in the OT and the game hasn't even hit shelves yet except in very small locations.

HYPE.

Here is another team I'm thinking of rolling with.

Team Godlike

Thor to cut red health apart, and for damage in general, Ammy for some serious screen owning and combos, and Dormammu for much the same. I figure the health should be good, and meter will build quick with Thor in the party using assists to guard his "Vow" down down fierce taunt. If I can't pick someone apart with ammy flying all over the screen I switch to Dormammu's keep away that walls off the screen with attacks from afar.

Anyone else getting new ideas watching these vids?

land one bread n butter on her meter less, and she's dead.

Phoenix is basically a high maintenance design, mismanage her once and u might as well go in the fight with 2 characters.

Hmm, that last BioCom combo on the stream, that killed X-23, was pretty nice. Bionic... ARMMMMMMMM!

So X Factors is the same thing as Baroques from TvC?

Kinda. Allows you to continue combos, doesn't sap your red life, helps you heal it instead, works on point and assist characters, damage and duration is based off characters remaining. That's the main differences, at least.

Nice Lei-Lei avvy btw. Don't think I've seen that art of her before...

Seth keeps saying that they kept lowering her health with every new build because of her monstrous damage output and I do believe that it's high, but unless I start seeing her dropping characters as quickly as they drop her, I'll continue believing that the health trade off was unreasonable. I'm just dying to see her in the hands of a pro.

Ok so shuma gorath is gonna beast on people.

  • Mystic Smash is plus on block and no longer a charge move
  • mystic stare explosion OTGs
  • hyper mystic smash OTGs
  • new optic blast special
  • CAPTAIN SWOOOORD
  • MOTHERFUCKING AIR DASH

Here's what Deviljin said on SRK

"Got to play Mahvel last night. Most of what people are saying is true. Dark Phoenix + X-Factor = gonna make newbies rage. She can easily take out all 3 characters. She doesn't even really need combos once she gets a super. The super does like 30 percent chip also, is full screen and is a projectile so unless u have something that covers the whole screen really fast on block even on block its pretty safe. Her super is instant death if anything hits that is cancellable. If the super actually hits u like off a combo, ur dead. Even one landed homing missle to super = gone. She can launch like up to 4 of those homing missle on screen at once and 2 of them come out on each rep. Her little mini lasers she can pretty much surround herself with as well when she's in dark mode. She has a Cinder form KI style special where she turns into fire and flies at u and does like 25 percent chip and can combo into anything on hit and is safe on block. Her trap special takes that makes a phoenix wing takes up like nearly all of the vertical screen space in Dark mode. Like your only chance of geting around it is waiting for it to dissapear or super jumping over it.

If i beat my friends 3 characters just by mashing on shit with Dark with Xfactor...i can only imagine. I mean yeah she can die in combo...but she can kill everyone in one combo too and probably has the game's best keepaway and rushdown. Its literally like fighting a mugen boss. You either kill her or die instantly trying."

LoL, Sentinel's way to lose from timeout is to basiclly break down and start smoking. That's pretty cool.

I'm gonna miss Tron's Gustaff explosion loss from MvC2. So it's nice to see SOMETHING following that style.

Its best to trust Seth and the team on the game with this one, seeing as they have considerable months experience with Phoenix over like 2 weeks of it. But I'm not seeing ridiculous damage out put that everyone claims, nor anyone even playing Dark Phoenix let alone Phoenix cause they're too fascinated with Sentinel. Maybe if we'd seen more footage we could assess whether she is actually more competitively viable. Until then, she is not.

What do you guys see as being good tactics againt Sentinel. He looks really scary.

Not as scary as olden times. This cast has a lot of unique ways to handle Sentinel. For example Dormammu can hit a move that disables your ability to jump. Grounding Sentinel is key. Also Viewtiful Joe has a slow down special that, on slow characters, nearly disables their block. Thor can't block when slowed according to a previous build. Even if Sentinel can a slower Sentinel would be way easier to face. Plus, I think X-23's hops are so quick she may be able to cut him off,and C Viper's air combos have the potential to really go the distance in a mid air battle. Plus guys like Spidey, Amaterasu and Spencer can grab walls and floors to zipline away from enemies which could get you out of some Sentinel setups that would flatten you otherwise.

It's hard to say what you should do since it will depend on who you like playing as the most, but there are a lot of new tactics in this game that should make handling Sentinel more doable this time around. Sentinel aint nerfed mind you...he's just been properly built better opponents.

Also, X-Factor is 1-time use. It's not like Baroque where you could do it as long as you had any red life.

So, around 6 pm EST time or anytime later on, would anyone like to do some XBL MvC 2 sparring? Ive invested no time in this series and would love to get a taste of the MvC fighting genre before the game comes in Tuesday.

I'll be on live sometime tonight if you want to get some matches in.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna rock Phoenix in my team. Her style really stands out to me.

Probably gonna use her, Viper, and some other character in my team at first. I shall call it team "I don't know what the fuck I'm doing or if these characters really go well together, but I like these characters so fuck it."

Hmm... can you call assists with round harvest out?

Round Harvest DHC Chaos Dimension > Stigma assist

Use another meter intensive character and be team Meter Whore.

Ouch. Try either Felicia Morrigan or Thor for your third. Both Thor and Felicia can build meter with a move when out and you can guard it with Viper assists. With Morrigan she has an assist that banks you half a meter at a whack so she may also suit you. Depends on whether you want to tag out to build meter or not. Me...I'd got Thor just to have someone with the health and power to act as a good change off if Phoenix doesn't work out against certain opponents. It's always good to have someone who can eat some chips in a Marvel Vs.

Not sure if this was posted before, but to whoever is going to the launch party tonight. I'm jealous

yea I saw that on facebook earlier.

I'm guessin ghostface aka tony stark aka iron man, but I think maybe someone mentioned RZA.

Ultimate Phoenix team: MODOK/Sentinel/Phoenix

Modok runs the fuck away while building levels of understanding, Sent covering space with assists.

Speed Phoenix team: Sentinel/Phoenix/Morrigan

Sentinel crushing from the sky, morrigan building meter off screen.

I like how they made Phoenix actually. The standard Phoenix is supposed to weak willed and fragile but when DP awakes, shit hits the fan. She's arguably the most powerful character out of the group if you go by comics and all.

It's weird to see someone rockin' with Spencer... but having a hard time with Dorm and Morrigan XD The exact opposite of most other vids you'll see.

So Morrigan seems to have nothing to do after knocking a person to the ground, except Shadow Servant... doh!

Was very good to see her Lvl 3 full screen DHC with Chaotic Flame, though. SO MUCH BETTER than the crappy slow version of the move from MvC2.

Gracias. It's going to be crazy to see what tournaments for this game look like.
