Spooky: "This game is TvC2."

Very interesting to hear the varying opinions on the game. I'm about to dive in myself. =D

It does seem so by the way the game is played. Not sure if its for me anymore... I'll have to see more! Def prefer tactics vs twitch reaction...

You probably should run, because everyone I know and trust who has played it talks about how obscenely good it is. Your loss.

Never said I wasn't going to play it, but the gameplay style, art style, and in some ways the roster are dissapointing. I was hoping for MVC3 but this isn't it, it really is TVC2.

At least I've still got Super.

TvC brought a lot of attempts and ideas of balance and character originality to the modern day V.S. series. I think it's obvious that it help a LOT with the overall creation of this game.

There's so much from TvC that I'd love to see in this game... characters, character play styles... but they got a lot of what I like from that game in this one too, and that's a good part of why I'm hyped for THIS game.

I don't understand......

Launch line was just too long for me to wait around (I'm currently here at BART waiting for my train to go home).

But the launch looked pretty successful so I'll just wait a few more days until I get my own copy (PS3 CE).

*dude asks about Megaman X*

Niitsuma: Megaman X is something we'll consider, we're not done with characters yet, and we want to make all the fans happy.

I'm in your camp, the game looks great and seems great, I just prefer tactics over infinite combos like Tatsunoko. So still on the fence...

It's not TvC2, it's really what people have been saying, more like TvC and Marvel's lovechild

more than anything I think the game's a unique beast

btw, game's at CTF for you NY gaffers

I really wish the game had Baroque. And Juggernaut.

Overall MvC3 is faster than 2 with more of the cast having better movement options. No one's going to be as fast as Mags or Sent in 2, but a lot of characters having 8 ways and wave dashes being so fast mean the games gonna be just as fast, if not faster, than anyone that isn't mags/sent in mvc2.

I have a feeling this game is going to polarize the fan base to some extent. The roster, X Factor, slower pace (compared to MvC2) and modified control scheme are going to piss people off. Then again, what do I know :P I like what I see, but X Factors, for some characters at least, do stupid damage.

I asked this before, but did Eighting do some of the development?

Storm, Sent, and Dante will piss people off more than anything.

Wasn't Sentinel supposed to be balanced in this game?

Okay yeah I'm kidding, but this dude looks beastly as usual at least from the outset.

TeamSpooky pretty much confirmed that NYC is having the unofficial release of MvC3 tomorrow.

NYC GAF, time to give Korean stores some business.

Watching the sp00ky stream. The game looks great, but man, I really hate fighting game lingo. "Secret tech" "god-like"

It sounds so silly. And this is coming from someone who played MMOs for years. I know all about silly lingo.

Everybody hated on the 3rd strike when it first came out. People will get over it and realize and accept the awesome, even if it is different than what they are used to. Some people just don't like being out of their comfort zone.

This game isn't mindless just because you don't understand/aren't able to follow it.

lol what do people want? for MVC3 to basically be MVC2 with updated graphics? capcom can't win then. if they change the game it's "not marvel!" if they don't change it then "wtf i played this game 10 years ago!"

the game is going to be sweet. style is great, gameplay is familiar but fresh, and some fresh new concepts to add to the game. you can't please everyone though so there will be those that dont like the game. but they are minorities. wait...

Re: TVC2 stuff. Just like SFIV had to be a new game built from the ground up, there really was no way an MVC3 was ever gonna happen that was an ultimate retro project created around a port of the Marvel Super Heroes base engine or something.

Crazy combo issues aside, I'll admit I liked how TvC felt and played better than the old versus games. It felt like a game with modern playability that paid the right amount of attention to the classics.

Same here. I have noticed that combo links are much more lenient and forgiving than they are in MvC2 and TvC. It could be the streams, but the overall speed of the game seems a bit slower as well. Plus, I really like how the controls are more like TvC, with the light, medium and heavy attacks, instead of separate buttons for punches and kicks. Launchers being it's own buttons is fantastic.

At first I was sort of excited, only because I never got that good at MvC2. I'm alright in SF and got decent at TvC. But the more I've looked into Mahvel 3, the more excited I get. Can't wait :D

It was successful in the sense that a large number if people showed up, but they seriously underestimated the amount of people who turned up. I bailed from the line about 25 minutes ago and I ran into a capcom employee outside who was having a smoke. He said The place got packed after about 25% of people in line entered. After the first hour, all the musical performances were already underway. Not to mention there's only 8-10 stations available.

They didn't even have the fucking decency to tell people at the end of the line they couldnt enter. The VIP line got a fucking taco truck delivered right near them. I'm fucking angry right for the sheer disrespect they had for the fans, but I'm more disappointed in Capcom than anything.

This whole thing was fucking pitiful. Seriously, real talk, I feel like canceling my preorder. I feel like it'll only remind me of this terrible event.

people shocked about the TVC2 opinions - LOL.

Most people with experience in the prior Vs series and any knowledge of Tatsunoko called this as soon as the button scheme was laid out. Shouldn't be a big surprise, and it doesn't make it a bad game

Wait, so basically Sent can combo into HSF, activate X Factor BEFORE the HSF hits to reset himself and the first HSF gets boosted? And then followed up by whatever Sentinel wants?

Am I seeing that right?

I prefer six button setup ala MVC and any prior versus games before that but what can you do?

Capcom had to simplify things in order to speed up the game and such. It's still fun to play.

Certainly not. I suck at MVC2 due to the shear insanity of it all but I can relate to Tatsunoko's gameplay. Good news to me.

I have been fucking with MvC2 for a long time and when TvC came out it was a breath of fresh air. A vs game that had a different feel to it and a great one at that.

Marvel freshened up with modern ideas from TvC sounds incredible and I can't wait.

Though, MvC3 has been one my most anticipated titles thus far... the bolded was the most surprising and awesomely relieving news. I'm one of those people who hit a very early (and tall) wall when it came to MvC2. Most of my matches consisted of button mashing -- but I've learned a little bit since then (thanks to SF4).

Multiple button layouts/schemes have always been my weakness when it came to some fighters. Sounds bloody retarded but it's nothing like playing a FPS where you're just repeatedly hitting R1/Right trigger and occasionally reloading, jumping or activating a switch. You have be reactive and generally make full use of all the buttons.

Wow Arthur is looking kinda beastly, unexpected.

I don't know why anyone thought he wasn't going to be super good.... oh well at least I don't have to explain stuff to people about it anymore.

Yup. There will always be some issues adjusting to having punches/kicks on one set of buttons, but the game is still fun.

My impressions:
Taskmaster's design is awesome
Most of the characters are easy to get into
X-Factor is like the ultimate infinity gem
Some characters look great while others (Ryu) look odd. Same with backgrounds.
Hsein-ko is also awesome
Deadpool VO best for a fighting game character ever? Maybe

Definitely feels more TvC than the CPS2 games.

Oh for god sake they have to reduce the chip damage on XFC Ice Storm... it's too much.

Also how come nobody has done her other hyper? Where she freezes you and then hits you with the Tornadoes?

he looks like spiral. I'm guessing he won't be as bad though since his health is so low, seems slower, and he doesn't have teleports. It should be a little easier to get to him since everyone seems to be so damn fast.

I fucking hate MVC2 control scheme so much. It was strange 10 years ago, and it's still strange today.
