That's thing about public events. Anybody can just enter on a first come, first serve basis. I'm willing to bet half of those people aren't even there for the game but for the party, music, etc.

Still doesn't excuse the fact that Capcom did a shit job of running this whole thing. You know it's bad when the place reached capacity after the VIPs and only 25% of the regular line entered, leaving the rest ass out on the Tenderloin.

Yeah I've been on SRK many times, its more of a jungle there. It is MUCH more intense there. I have not been on the MVC3 forum there in a bit though.

See that's the thing. Capcom is more than able to control how the information is disseminated.

When they held the SFIV party, they made it a point to be a secret event by utilizing Capcom Unity and literally asking one of the employees to let them get on the guest list via friend request. This wasn't even listed on Facebook. And that was just in 2009.

Flashforward to tonight's fiasco, where they decided to go the full-on social media meet-up advertisement and throw in musical guests. Rather than having merely fans of the game show up to enjoy the game, it became like an all-out house party.

The fact that most of the people who were able to get into the party seemed to have spent it outside by the Mogo taco truck, to me, makes this whole thing seem like 95% of people there didn't give a crap about the game at all and 4.5% wanted to see the musicians - just so that they could post on Facebook that they were there. Only probably 0.5% of people truly excited for this were shafted as soon as the doors opened.

I'm still excited for the game, don't get me wrong, but after this experience... I'm going to be far more cautious about attending these things, which is a shame because they're a lot of fun.

Just get the standard. Only reason I'm getting the CE is because I had Amazon credit and it's only costing me 2 bucks extra versus just buying the standard.

I'm mostly just bummed that the only way I could've gotten into the launch party and had a fun night out was by skipping out on work at noon to ensure I got a place in line.

But like I said, I have the game pre-ordered and will probably have fun with it. The only thing that I'm going to be wary of is when Capcom decides to have another launch party - and pray that it doesn't end up like this one did.

Everybody hated on the 3rd strike when it first came out. People will get over it and realize and accept the awesome, even if it is different than what they are used to. Some people just don't like being out of their comfort zone.

Well third strike had terrible sales, a lot of people included me never really got into it and just past on fighting games for the longest time. Third strike was a great competition fighting game but it never did really well sales wise...
