I'm in the same boat, I dont think I'm bad at fighting games but I'd love a game that's the "opposite" of SSF4 right now. And marvel seem to fill that spot nicely...

Whats the word on netcode? SSFIV quality? Better?

Word is that people who have modded 360s are trying to access Jill and Shuma. It's already known that they are on the disc. This could get interesting...GET HYPE!

I don't know how I feel about that honestly.

Seems like with out the game even being released widely, people are already spamming Dante, Deadpool, Sent, Wesker, etc. I suck at fighting games, but like to play less used characters. I don't think I seen any streams or vids of Trish yet. What's she like? Anyone?

So what is the general consensus on the Hori fight sticks. More specifically this one.

It's the same as the one I have. I threw a fit with SSF4 when I first started learning with it. Gave up on arcade sticks until now. Back to MVC with this and will use it. I've been messing around with mvc2 with it and it seems better suited for this type of play, no constant fadc type stuff. Maybe I just got a bit more used to it, still can't do double fireball or a DP consistently yet. The stick part is what's holding me back from going full out arcade stick.

The build is sturdy, everything seems nice, but this is my first arcade stick.

First one.

Well it's inevitable. Nothing we can do about it. Second one is shitty too. Charging me again for something I already bought. I assume there is a "service" fee that pubs/ devs pay in order to keep content on XBL/PSN servers. So they'd rather save money and put it on the disc and make us "unlock" it later.

Anyway, there is obviously some sort of required code or title update (that only Capcom can provide) in order to access them within the game itself. Even if videos of Shuma and Jill were to pop up today or in the next few days, expect the Capcops to take them down.

oh speaking of arcadesticks, I'm one of those old dinosaurs that use a 360gamepad while playing SSF4.

Comparing marvel to SF, which one has a larger "gap" between pad-play and stick-play, skill-wise that is.

I too had trouble adapting to a stick for SFIV. Bought a Madcatz SE, and modded it with all Sanwa parts. I also changed the gate to an octagonal shape, which may have hindered the learning curve as well. To me it felt too imprecise with the DF, DB motions specifically. I sold the stick, and for this game decided to try the PDP Marvel pad that is coming out. I hope it works as well as it looks and sounds.

Holy Shit Max, you destroyed Marn.

41 wins 1 loss

This vid is the best proof that Sentinel is NOT OP.

That bit at 2:37 that starts the final combo. I can't really tell, but is all that down to the assisting Wesker getting a hit on the landing Sentinel? Seems like he just got caught and then that allowed Iron Man to get that last part in.

Shit is too fast for Youtube.

EDIT: Also, looks like titles and emblems are in? I did not know that. Cool.

He did a good job taming the beast. You could tell Marn wanted to save Sent for the level 3 xfactor. Max was ready. No chip damage when you have xfactor, so they canceled each other out. Marn also dropped him a few times. Totally wiped Dante out. Sent is still very dangerous.

Look like Wesker was recovering from being knocked down/interrupted earlier in a assist. Sent got him and Iron mixed up in some attacks.

I say sf4 at this point. Mvc3 does not focus on 1 frame plinks. Pad is viable. the only problem with pad in MVC3 is dexterity. You press many more buttons in combos this time around.

Everyone was there. Me included. I couldn't figure out how to do qcf x 2 for the longest time, and DP. I learned how to do it by not playing. :lol Also, if those are stock hori buttons, those will limit you in this game. my hrap3 had stock buttons, and you can not dash consistently with them. Even lariat wouldn't come out all the time. You really have to slam on them. No double QCF here, so that's less you have to worry about.

Seems like a lot of people are using Sentinel as their 3rd character and final character, relying on the massive LVL3 X Factor boost in damage and stamina to make a comeback if needed.

It's an alright strategy but if the other team has X Factor and at least 2 characters they can still easily wreck Sentinel's shit.

Sentinel can do a lot of damage but a lot of characters can do a lot of damage to him as well and mix him up or catch him in mid flight. It's just like MVC2... whoever opens the opponent up is going to win. X Factor brings in the extra spice and the player on top has to be extra careful now.

And yes, X-Factor NEGATES any chip damage. Even the lvl1 variety does this. I would still say that Sentinel is "the character to beat" in this game.

To that other guy who asked about Trish: Trish is extremely solid and has a bunch of fancy tricks. Projectile super that can be used in the air and can hit enemies OTG. Specials that trap opponents and restrict their movements especially aerial movements. Assist also traps. She can fly and can do the 8 way air dashing. She has a tracking projectile super that does insane chip damage and a cool looking LVL3 super. She can play rushdown, keep away/runaway or be in a team designed to chip away at enemy health slowly. JWong likes her a lot and he pairs Trish with Chun-Li and Storm. I would say her only weakness is that like all characters of her type she takes more damage than others but it's nothing to get too worried about.

kickass, also I'm just getting grips on 1f links in SF. Not as hard as I thought, offline, in trainingmode.... :(

I wonder if his Shield throw can be used as an OTG because it's directed downwards. That would be pretty awesome if on coming back it bounces the opponent up just enough to allow him to sneak a super in.

Damn that Iron Man Hyper/Super/Ultra w/e the fuck it is looks fucking sweet

Drags you, does a loop-de-loop, chest plasma blasts, and the drop damage (I think)

That Wesker video, good lord, DAT Air Combo!

Iron Man and Dante are my favorite LVL3 Hypers.

Which reminds me, even though people will not see it this way but Sentinel does have one weakness: He doesn't have a LVL3 Hyper. Most people will laugh at this and say that he doesn't even need it but the troll threat of a LVL3 makes a character deadlier.

Iron Man with 4 bars and an X Factor is a major threat and Dante with X Factor + 1 Bar can go through just about anything. I saw Deadpool pulling out his super to chip Dante to death on block but Dante just X Factored + LVL3 Hyper through Deadpool's super to kill him.

Then we have X-23 and her invisible lvl3 command grab for insane damage. Wesker, Felicia and Zero's LVL3 are nuts as well. I believe Tron Bonne has an unblockable LVL3 as well. Deadpool's LVL3 is a counter hyper which is a major threat when he gets 3 bars.

Even Ryu's LVL3 has utility, if you hit that in the corner you can get a free combo afterwards for a combo that can easily kill off a character.

That and you take into consideration that LVL3 hypers DO NOT SCALE meaning they are perfect for finishing off a really, really long combo.

Does he really even need it? HC XFC HC cuts through a team like butter. Fuck man, the drones fly so fast! Even a basic combo does way too much damage. I really think his mobility needs to be reevaluated. He's not unbeatable, but man he's really damn good. Even his assist is good.

I haven't seen much LVL 3's make a difference at the moment.

Uhm, he just said why it is an important thing to have. Everyone needs it, ofc.

LVL3 supers don't scale at all meaning they will do their fixed damage regardless of how many hits you have accumulated in the combo.

They do get buffed up by X Factor or by any other buff your character has to damage.

Like in the corner, Hulk's grab into Avalance XFC Gamma Crush takes 100% health or close to it.

It's really good for those rushdown characters who accumulate a lot of hits in their combos and their hits don't do a lot of damage, even if they finish with a regular super. For someone like Iron Man, LVL3 is the ONLY way for him to link his super into another super (he can't Proton Cannon XFC Proton Cannon but he can Proton Cannon XFC LVL3).

Thing about Sentinel is that he doesn't have new "surprises" so to speak where as now a lot of characters do.

It's 10AM. My brain and eyes aren't functioning. If he had a level 3. There would be no reason to omit him from your team. He would be your point man or second in slot in every team.
