wow, watching the stream, that looks stupid as ffff.

will definitely stay in the 'play for fun / amateur league' haha.
Eh, it's just someone doing cheap shit that no one has figured out to counter. That's why I like getting in on the ground floor of games like this. Trying to work out good combos/tricks and the ways out them all at the same time.

Hahahahahha XFC level 2 Sent killed that Phoenix in two hits!

;_;
From what I've played, two solid combos or a combo + hyper from anyone (even with no XF) take her out. So she's stays in the back as my last resort. :P

Maxi - Dat Wesker.

Felicia combo only 91 hits - pshhh what is this, SF2 The world warrior? ;p.

Love that ryu is low tier. Finally get to play him. Thinking of team ryu, akuma, chris and Wolverine.

nice comeback. that's the first ive seen of dark phoenix, insanely powerful but taken out by sentinel in 2 hits to lose
That wasn't Dark Phoenix. Regular Phoenix is still a beast though as you can see.

Man, don't let your gameplay time and enjoyment factor get centered on how one pro views the game. If me and my guildmates (along with millions of others) got worked up on how WoW's top guilds and players viewed every mechanic in the game, or even a select few mechanics, we'd have been constantly miserable.

Exactly, the stuff the pros bitch about flies over the heads of 99.8% of the audience who will play this game. I only care about my opinion and guess what? I really like this game.

The field is more level, and now we find out who the REALLY good fighting game players are.

The REALLY good ones are those who win, period. Cut the Sirlin bullshit about execution. Justin Wong might whine too much for his own good but he's no fraud.

that guy didnt know how to play phoenix. you guys will see the true ultimate power soon enough. lol
This.

Even just learning her basic combos has me knocking people out of the park with her. You just can't mess up even once or it's over for you. Healing hyper + XFC helps a lot :P

I think the real important thing here is: did you have fun playing?

oh god yes, I'm playing with my regular 360 pad so my skills are suffering. I will definitely get better once I get my stick.

Xfactor sent needs a nerf my gawd

Waiting on that smash bang fusion.

Now if you stayed in flight mode for too long the opponent would take advantage and hit you with a combo because you can't block. That's why you had to constantly do QCB+KK to enter flight mode then cancel the flight mode (unfly) so you can block, dash in and out, land do a low attack, jump up, dash, hit with overhead, fly mode, hit some more, unfly, dash, land etc.

I

Wasn't unfly a bug triggered by getting hit by attacks while in fly that didn't launch you into the ground? I'm not 100% in my comprehension, since I never got really into Marvel, but from what you're saying here, it seems like you're saying they turned a bug into a feature in the transition to MvC3.

Wolverine DNA detected in female mutant. DOES NOT COMPUTE. DOES NOT COMPUTE. DOES NOT COMPUTE.

HAHAHAHA This game is too godlike!

What the fuck is this shit. I hope you're being sarcastic and if not, please stop typing.
MvC3's combos are easy mode. Mid-tier players are going to be able to execute combos that can kill a character off with one punish. Meta game tactics are going to end up overshadowing execution quickly with this game. This isn't MvC2 where if you couldn't execute a ROM or fly/unfly, you were pretty much fucked in high level play. The door is wide open at Evo for the next couple years until the dust settles and everyone has a strong understanding of this game.

Why are so many people ordering online? I mean, so many things could go wrong. And even if it does come on the day of release, aren't you just gotta sit there for 6 hours that morning wait for the mailman? When it would take you 10 min to drive to walmart..

I'd rather have it delivered to work to bring home then go the store after I get out of work...

Spooky putting ps3 on blast.

spooky is claiming that the streaming of the video is not gonna affect netplay. Not sure i buy that. Actually I don't buy it at all.

dang i thought that was dark phoenix but i probably just saw the xfactor power turned on and thought it was dark phoenix
Yeah Dark Phoenix gets a Hyper animation and is actually on fire. She's pretty badass.

I understand what you're saying, but you're saying it isn't' fair that Justin can out-execution everyone. That is to say that execution shouldn't matter, when it most certainly should. If I'm a more skilled player than you I should be able to do combos that you shouldn't. Meta game is another story. But then I guess this is a philosophical difference as to whether you think of mvc as a fighter or rts.

This has been my interpretation of the game after seeing the combo vids being released. Probably just gonna sit this game out and wait and see how it develops before getting into it. Not just metagame - I'm interested in seeing what execution techniques develop that will separate the dedicated from the half-hearted.

That is another thing and what you are talking about is indeed a bug.

The one I am talking about is just activating and de-activating flight mode for certain characters, it isn't a bug it's an actual skill set for these characters and it is continued in MVC3. You see when Sentinel jumps, his jet flames are colored yellow but when he enters fly mode they turn blue.

MvC3's combos are easy mode. Mid-tier players are going to be able to execute combos that can kill a character off with one punish. This guy has the right idea but I don't like the way "easy mode" is used here. It's more like Capcom is attempting to level the playing field so that every character can do high damaging combos and players get decent at the game quicker. That's why you have stuff like OTG follow ups, wall bounce etc.

The difference in skill will come in those who can open up other players and use mind game/mix up to create combo and evade others vs those who can't. So yeah right now people are getting all "OMG I just discovered a 100% combo with Wolverine... I am going to own with him now!" excited but in real match situation they defenses will have to be so tight that just opening up for that one combo is going to be that match in of itself. That's where the true learning curve is and that's really what top tier MVC2 was all about. All the pros knew how to do the fly/unfly and ROMs but getting to land that combo was the hard part.

Assist dynamics will be playing a key role as well and combining them into pressurizing to open up the opponent will be important. The other player will then have to keep his eye out for mistimed assist call and punish accordingly. Then of course there is X Factor, how to use it and when to use will be a key element in a match.

He asked the guy in the house what his upload was. Even if your upload is good i'm betting the streaming is going to mess your latency up big time. Check them QoS settings boyeee!
