Building up the five bars can be rough. I played against a guy yesterday who did it, and he was a BRUTAL pain in the ass.

We was playing Arthur/Modok/Phoenix. Just played keep away with Arthur the entire time while laying down barricades with Modok. I finally killed Arthur, with just Ryu left, and he switched to MODOK and called Phoenix out for an assist right as I XFC shinku'd

It iced Phoenix in one shot, and she Dark'd out. I LUCKED out and hit her with a XFC shinku as she tried to rush me down, and one shotted her, but then Modok beat me.

But still, I can't imagine that keep away style being that fun, unless you are a total Spike/Sirlin.

Honestly, I'm just a total sucker for high execution characters in fighting games. It's one thing to get in there and just stomp all day long, but it's another thing entirely when a character who isn't viable due to easy KO ability turns it all around on you before you can (literally) swat them away.

I love how CapAm moved in and then Phoenix put up the healing shield and CapAm just backed the fuck up immediately.

This was class. It's like Cap was literally thinking "fuck this I'mma go ly dow". :lol

It's a toss up because if he stays in the bubble, she'll continue to heal.

Called the Phoenix thing a few weeks ago, good to see some of the footage come out.

Wait until you see someone that actually knows how to use Phoenix...

I'm ready to see someone use her in a way that's not just like "build 5 bars and wait until you're about to die before doing anything with her."

So, Marn? Though really, even Marn started trolling with his other two characters and not giving it his all when he was up so many games.

Yeah, Marn was doing some cool shit with just regular Phoenix.

Ricky Ortiz mains phoenix. I'm ready to see a norcal stream.

After watching a lot of videos i can tell this game is more zone heavy than anything I have seen in a long time. Better watch those throwback sirlin videos. Even though everything looks insane its all about zoning people out and then locking them down. Yes most fighting games are like that but the traps and the zone game of characters in mvc3 is over the top.

I remember him bringing her in, but I don't remember him really doing it that much. Maybe I should rewatch that FT10.

Push block is too effective.

somebody on the khaos stream does not know how to super jump. They were looking real free off that modok psyonic blaster.

Saw Marn using her against NerdJosh and all you have to do is farm meter with your first two characters and unleash Dark Phoenix. Even Sentinel doesn't stand a chance.
Marn failed to do that the first or second time he used, Phoenix, though. She died with only 4 bars after Josh projectile spammed his other two characters into oblivion. So I don't think it'll be that easy or cut n' dry.

He managed to do a lot to NerdJosh's Storm/Sentinel before going to Dark Phoenix in one match.
However, another time, he got put on blast for trying to use XF Phoenix's hypers.

IIRC Marn had 5 bars and but then chose to waste one on chip damage and paid the price. He was trolling Josh by that point though.

Finally got this last night, and after putting a good amount of hours into it, I'm still adjusting to the game. I was hoping Ammy would be great but so far out of my ideal go -to team she's been the one I've been having trouble with. Really love Joe, and I'm surprised how easy it is to pick up Dante and just cover the screen in supers. For now I've subbed in Iron Man and Hagar for Ammy, both of them seem surprisingly good.

That lvl 3 xfc Phoenix is true story.

We were fucking around earlier and just came to the general consensus that if you don't kill her with the first character that you have on screen, then there's a 99% chance you're going to die. The next character that hops in has no choice but to either block (and let her pressure game start up on you) or don't block (die instantly). Shit is lulz

How do you level up this x-factor or hype meter ? :p

it seems that Phoenix is a bit like rogue, this makes me very happy

This has got to be the worst stream I've ever seen. Or not seen, as I've only gotten 10 frames of video in the past 3 minutes.

It's been pretty laggy ever since it started, but it was watchable until like 5 minutes ago.

Honestly I'd really love a link to some basic info on this game like controls, basic moves, what is push block, etc? It would help out beginners a lot.

Here ya go :)

also, xfc is fixed. lvl 1 (shortest time, least damage powerup) when all your chars are alive, lvl 2 when you only have two chars alive, and lvl 3 (longest time, biggest damage powerup) when you are down to your last char.

Phoenix isn't anything like Rogue gameplay wise

and xfactor levels depend on how many characters you have left

3 characters = moderate strength increase increase, slight regen, lasts for enough time to land two combos
2 characters = the 'normal' xfc, be gdlk, last for a decent time
1 character = hide ya kids hide ya wife

its the speed that fucks with me the most... people think chun is fast, wait til wolverine is in your kitchen cookin up your grits....
