Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

played about 15 matches online and i have to say i'm pretty impressed. it's basically lag free. i had a couple stutters throughout the 15 or so matches but lag never played a part in the matches.

i have been using a variety of teams but i think the one i have had most success with is skrull/wolverine/phoenix. skrull is the heavy hitter, wolverine builds up the special meter and then phoenix cleans up the mess (as dark phoenix). i tried out modok and got fucking destroyed cause i dont know how to use him. surprisingly i had some decent success with ryu too!

i'm not that great of a player but i won more than i lost. still dont know how to do those air tag ins yet and a lot of the combos but i'm going to check it out later. plus i bought the guide off amazon.

p.s. the endings are pretty cool.... well i liked hulks a lot! i also like that the voices at the beginning of the match are character sensitive (for instance, skrull vs. chris and skrull says "you should've stayed fighting zombies!" or something like that)

It's fine. There are occasional frame drops during pre-match cinematic and when there is a shit load (and I mean a SHIT LOAD) of stuff happening. And I say drop, it goes from 60 to 30 (I guess). It's not a slide show.

Ugh.

The difference in performance between the versions with 360 being the superior one makes me wonder if EVO is going to go with 360 this time around.

A game played at a tournament level needs parity.

Sorry about that.

Fuck the Knicks.

Every single game at EVO this year is on PS3 IIRC. Sony's sponsoring it, no?

How is Dark Phoenix not Strider again?

Strider is a ninja. Thats the important part.

Also Strider dies fast. Phoenix dies to sneezes.

Are we canceling preorders again today?

I think we should start moaning about how it's silly for 360 users to pay £40 a month for nothing, other than the ability to play the best versions of the popular fighting games.

60 fps to 30 fps is not that good when the 360 version apparently has almost zero frame drops. Guess I'll mostly stick with the 360 version and only play the ps3 version to whoop rors and kag's butts.

Sony Sponsored and greater selection of sticks for the PS3 vs the Xbox 360... that and EVO has a shitton of PS3's already. Definitely will be on PS3.

Best versions, lol. Talk about grasping for straws.

Servbot running like hell from DP = GOTF.

Pretty hard for a god like character to be humble when you're fighting an 8 year old in a robot.

You seem to have real issues with Tron. She bully you on the playground?

60 to 30 is cringe worthy when talking about a fighting game.

On the PS3 version is there an install option or is it auto installed? Do these drops occur in offline DURING matches? Do they occur ONLINE during matches?

Depending on the kind of player you are and when these drops occur/how frequent they are/how big the frame drop is can really ruin the experience.

For me if it was online during matches, almost every match, then I'd claim it disastrous since I only have the online space to get my fight on with.

This seems to be a a running theme with Capcom that the two versions of their fighters can never be 99% on par with each other. They should try with SFxT to make the PS3 the lead platform, and see what kind of results they can get.

Watching an old stream from spooky, man Phoenix is sooooooo weak. She got obliterated by ammeratsu.

I feel sorry for the guy who uses her mainly

30 FPS at any point in a fighting game still sounds problematic, and isn't there always a shitload of stuff going on?

It auto installs some amount.

Whoa who whoa, these talks about the PS3 version being inferior are killing my hype! I don't have a 360 these days, fuck me :(

How often and for how long do these issues come up?! fuck this shit seriously.

I've been playing the PS3 version and there's definitely frame drops at the introductions and during heavy action. It didn't bother me much after 30 minutes, but it was a little jarring at first.

Okay I just realized that the special edition is only $70 (the Amazon page fooled me into thinking it was $100) and am now more likely to get it.

The Marvel subscription looks interesting but is it for the iPad app or the website?

She was one of my mains in MVC2. I hate this Tron. I'm so bitter about the loss of her projectile assist, especially after all the broken shit going on in MVC2.

I dare say it will be like the PS3 version of Super not being arcade perfect, not much to worry about.

Someone answer this before release :(

I'll wait for Digital Foundry before we start throwing around numbers here and passing them around as facts.
Fuck being sensible.

Hide ya kids! Hide ya wife! All these preorders gettin canceled up in here.

No seriously, I think we've seen enough of the PS3 version to know it's fine. Guys are acting like this is a Bayonetta situation.

They haven't had them in stock for forever.

Wait what? The PS3 has been my fighting game platform of choice so far because I don't wanna pay for another fightstick for the 360 (can people custom-build multi-platform sticks?) and I don't know if I'll renew Gold when it expires.

Mentioning this, anyone got a solid number on the size of the 360 install or what?

Ps3 version is around 3gb if I heard correctly, so i think that it'll be around that size.

Ugh, Bayonetta was so bad. I had only played the PS3 version and I loved it then I watched my friend play some of the 360 version and I was blown away. Need to get that version.

PS3 version of this is fine.

Hopefully some Gaffers who got the PS3 version can give input on how bad it really is.

If you get: 5+ moments of frame rate drop a match + the connection is laggy, then that = a shitty experience.

So Acid, can you opt to install more of the game after the minimum to possibly smooth out the frame rate issue or no ?

Huh, what were SSFIV's issues? all I remember was a lower resolution during ultra, some reported slight lag, but I never noticed that. On the other, something as noticeable and distracting as slowdowns/frame drops will piss the hell out of me.

FUCK THIS SHIT I AM FREAKING OUT

I'm pretty sure that SFIV dropped the framerate during ultras.

I don't think so, a lot of PS3 games don't have that option. There's just the mandatory install when you first start the game.

Sorry I lost Maximillians post.. Can anyone tell me about the online modes again? Player matches dont affect your leaderboard ranking and stuff right? You can invite up to 8 people in lobbies but no spectator mode?

PS3 SSFIV had the same resolution during winning poses and ultras. Vanilla SF4 had a lower resolution during winning poses. Both had no AA, but I couldn't tell the difference from the 360 versions. MvC3 is MT Framework, a different engine and lots of effects.

This is good to hear, I might not have to delete as much stuff to make space.

Someone said it was 7.5 gigs earlier in the thread.
Yeah, but that has to be bullshit. Number is too big, especially for this kind of game.

Yeah I definitely see her as being a pretty tough challenge in the right hands for a long time to come. It's definitely going to make for some great comeback videos.
Once the meta-game develops, most people would be doing snap-back against the 2nd character to kill phoenix before she gets lvl 5 and x-factor lvl 3.
