Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

After having played it a couple of days non-stop... I'm glad the game was made (for the sake of the fighting game community) but I don't really find it fun at all :(

Then again I did just fight against a chun li for 2 hours that did nothing but mash kicks into ultra and it worked most of the time.

For those that ordered from the Capcom store and have had their copies ship: Is the tracking number they supplied active for anyone? My copy "shipped" a while back, but USPS still doesn't have the item listed. Hmm.

I'm not going to be playing at launch anyway because of my current work schedule, but I'll have time come end of next week. I just hope it's not too late and I'm not too far behind the curve!

Edit: Spin, I got that error right before I got the email confirmation of my copy shipping.

I find it interesting that everyone is set on finding a set team to work with in the game.

All the joy for me is playing as different characters every round, lol. :(

I'm doing it wrong I'm sure. :p

Personally, I'm going to be playing around with what I like and in a game with as many options for diversity as this, I'm sure I'll be spending a decent amount of time with every character. It's just that sometimes I tend to latch on to certain characters usually because of the play style they offer up. Right now, I'm currently on that Dante/Morrigan/Phoenix train mainly because of some casual observations on the way the game works with assists and whatnot and also because I love a good challenge when I pick my mains. There are others constantly bouncing around my head trying to get a spot on Team Azure from simple observation (Chun Li, Zero, Felicia, Viewtiful Joe, Cap. America, Wolverine, Skrull, Dormmamu), but at this point, I'm most interested in seeing more of the characters I'm attempting to synergize.

Edit: I'm determined to do two things with this game, first off is end a combo (preferrably for the finisher) as Deadpool with a Lvl. 3 Hype Factored taunt bubble KO. (:lol)

The second is to find more ways to use Phoenix beyond:

BUILD METER WITH BROS

I CAME TO FUCK SHIT UP

I'm amazed at how the character combos feel like you're playing their respective games, Dante and Joe and Arthur specifically. Dante's crazy light slash is made for a beat em' up, not a fighter =). They don't feel shoehorned into the engine to me. Maybe they pulled that off well in TvC, I didn't play that.

You forgot Arthur.

Can't believe I'm going to be playing a new Ghosts n Goblins game tomorrow night. Strange that they turned it into a fighting game filled with cameo appearances from other franchises.

You mean to say a Viewtiful Joe game with all the heroes and villains from Marvel and Capcom in Movieland.

This is Marvel, dude -- if the screen isn't covered with crap and assists as much as possible, you're playing it wrong. Easy way to get it: Sentinel drone bombs while the other guy does basically anything else at the same time on most stages. It also tends to happen a lot as hyper combos are performed and end, probably because most of them fill the screen with crap!

To clarify for those wondering: all the frame drops I've talked about are offline. Haven't even touched online. They don't ruin the game, but they are unpleasant and distracting, and there's no excuse for this game to not run rock-fucking-solid 60fps at all times. If you've only got a PS3, you don't need to cancel your preorder again, but if you have both consoles, get the 360 version. You'll be much happier.

Damn, this is completely fucked. I've been totally hyped for this game ever since announcement, but this is really killing my hype, and I almost considered cancelling my preorder. I never once considered that they would let something like that slip by. After Bayonetta, I don't think I can handle being burned like that again.

So I was going to get the PS3 version because I already have a fightpad and I prefer even the standard PS3 controller for fighters over the xbox 360 one.

Are the frame drops a real problem? What a shame that it's not rock solid. I wonder if I'd notice/care?

I would love, love, to see good matches validating Thor. I've seen his combos in training, but I want to see him in action. It'll eventually come, I'm sure, but I can't wait.
From what I played (sloppy day 1 matches), just land a lucky hit and do 50% of their life instantly.

I've found some ridiculous DHCs into Sent off his super grab.

How are occasional frame drops the same as that BULLSHIT they pulled with Bayonetta? Calm down brah.

Youll notice any imperfection in any game if you start to look for them. On SRK I'm hearing the 360 version has some slow down during certain things as well (chun assist specifically?). I'm not feeling that bad. If it's like the MVC1 slowdown, I really don't give a shit. They will patch it if they have any respect as developers.

Once I get the game I'll give my impressions on the technical side of things if anyone is still on the fence.

What's awesome is that these games are attached to the new Final Fight game where Mayor Haggar is cleaning up the world from cosplay rejects.

Which is a bonus for the all new non-Ninja Theory developed Devil May Cry adventure featuring Dante and Trish.

That new pad does look really good for the x360.

Does anyone know if there's any way that a SF4 TE ps3 stick can be used for the x360?

Like I said earlier, I haven't even noticed the drops on the PS3 version; not that I was looking for any. Runs perfectly smooth to me. I'm sure some will claim I'm full of shit, but that's their problem. I am perfectly content with my copy.

Okay do I need to get this game if I totally sucked at Marvel vs Capcom 2?

I didn't even get to play that game until it came out on PSN (I passed it up fir 3rd Strike back in the day). I could barely keep up with the speed of that game and couldn't even beat the final boss. I don't even think I'll ever be taking MvC3 online for sheer fear of all the shit I've seen on YouTube.

I didn't have as hard a time with Tatsunoko though, and I hear this was gonna be more like that game.

Niblet added the Sega Saturn USB to the second post of the thread to compliment the rest of the controller options of this game. I quoted it here for reference. Thanks, Niblet.

How do I tell a knockoff from a real one on ebay? I don't really use ebay.

I'm amazed that they were so forward thinking when they included all these modes in a new Megaman Zero game (even if they didn't use best Zero's design for it).

Tee-hee.

It's just too bad Capcom couldn't fit in an all new Mega Man or Strider game in all this.

*sigh*

Yeah I found those guys really annoying as well; had to turn it off. I miss spooky. He's so pro.

Other than looking at the case and the controller to see if they match up to the pictures Niblet provided and checking to see the reviews/reputation of the seller, I'm not sure what else to tell you. I'm not a big eBay user myself so I cannot help you as much as I'd like to.

Feel free to PM Niblet, though. I'm sure he'd be of more help on this topic since it was his idea to include this pad.

MVC2 is probably one of the hardest fighting games of all time. If you can make stuff happen in TVC, you can do it in MVC3.

Add 360 support and I'm sold, though I don't actually have a TE yet, just a Hori FS3.
Yeah, sorry about that. For some reason I was under the impression that it had 360 support. I iz dumb.
