only has 4 attack buttons dude, of course it isn't deep. 4 ATTTTTTTTTTTTACK BUTTONSSSSS. we need some standing fierce punch/kick to win over the reviewers.
VF must be shallow because it only has 3 buttons and only 2 of them attack.

back from vacation

played a few missions last night. I see shortcut SRK motion works here too

and danm it, i hate SheHulk's run command mapping. really gotta get use to it.

No the game does not have the shortcuts in place. Been playing since Saturday and even tested it myself DF DF + P does not work.

Even Seth confirmed it last month.

"Every game is slightly different in terms of inputs, but there are no input "shortcuts" a la SFIV in MVC3 (re: d/f, d/f + P does not give you a Dragon Punch). There [are also] no plan to change SF3:3S Online Edition special move input mechanisms from how they were in the original arcade release."

You forget man. Almost all reviewers jumped on the VF is the deepest fighter ever made bandwagon when 4 and 4 Evo hit the PS2. It was hilarious reading reviews and time after time reviewers would point this out but with piss weak reasoning that read like some cookie cutter reply.

I'm happier if the game had 0 unlockable characters, I wan't to be able to play everybody from the getgo

Seriously, I'm going to have to fart around and unlock akuma and THE ROBOT before I go online to play with friends, which sucks because I don't want to have to bullshit around unlocking stuff first.

I don't get this complaint. You'd think a better story mode would be more important for fan service than UNLOCKABLES!

Like I said, had Capcom just locked 18 characters and made you do time consuming shit to get everything scores would be higher. This is why Capcom did this with SFIV because they know full well that reviewers and casuals love the gratification of unlocking things. I'm shocked that there's only 4 characters to unlock, and it's piss easy to do.

"Late to this by a lot but what's everyone's favorite character themes so far? Right now, I heard a full quality version of Dante's and oh God, so many good memories of that ballin' ass DMC3 trailer are coming back to me. That + all the Mahvel hype and the new mix of Devils Never Cry puts me in auto hype mode."

I'm finding Doom's ridiculously sick, though I still want to hear a longer length version of the Mission Mode menu music.

If you want you can just leave your console in training mode and it will unlock almost all characters within like an hour or two after you go back to the menu.

You get around mid 2000 to 3000 points per arcade run so beating arcade mode a few times on should be a sure fire way to unlock quickly too. It really was not a pain at all.

The funny thing is I know a lot of casuals who bitched about SFIV because they found it too hard to unlock Akuma and Gouken.

Late? Dude, it's released on the 18th here in Europe... you Americans are lucky :(
:(

I hate the words fan service. It makes it immediately imply there is no substance and all references and "goodies" for fans. Not the case at all. MvC3 is looking to be the best of both worlds.

And IMHO the greatest fighting game ever.

You know what's extra fucked up? That just like now, we had to wait for SSF4 longer than the rest but that wasn't enough that icelandic volcano FUCKED shit UP so we got it weeks too late.

Now I swear to god if the snow fucks with my MvC...

Oh yeah, Doom's is some seriously good shit. And, I just got around to hearing Captain America's today after procrastinating. HOLY. FUCK.

I don't want to even wait a half an hour for the characters let alone an hour or two!!

My importer gets the game two weeks after release.

=/

Well Akuma and Sent unlock within half an hour. Just set damage to high CPU to super easy if you must unlock them both in shortest amount of time possible.

Why don't you order the game from Play-Asia? You don't have a Credit Card? You can get a prepaid Visa card from most banks. I'm sure Play-Asia fastest shipping to your country would arrive well within two weeks (I'd think 5 days max) and who knows your importer is probably gonna charge you more than it would have cost importing the Asian copy (Region free on PS3 and 360) yourself.

A good chance it'll take you maybe 30 - 60 mins tops to unlock the four. You do plan to go into training mode to start right?

That SRK wiki is good stuff.

To be fair the Eurogamer review is the best and most informed yet, they know their stuff and researched, just don't hold the game to the same critical standards of a few hyped forum members. Completely crucial elements for mid to high level play (audiences they already try to cater to with mission mode), such as DHC and snapbacks go COMPLETELY unexplained. One of the biggest weaknesses of the genre is them trying to be newbie friendly and yet only hitting half of the bullet points to completely inform the player. It's pretty damn counterintuitive.

One of the others said it wasn't a deep fighting game or some stupid shit like that.
I don't think it is either. There are tons of ways to do the exact same thing. It makes for a ton of combo vid potential but that doesn't make a game deep, it makes it mahvel. It shouldn't kill your hype though... game is still a lot of fun.

I wouldn't say that this game is more accessible than SFIV tbh
It is by a long shot. No FADC bullshit here...

One of the reasons I will play Doom is because of his theme. I really like Wesker's theme too. Which is great because I predict there will be an army of them online.

Marvel (fighters) is one of the deepest most complex series I can think of. Tons of ways to do the same thing makes no sense. Because some of those ways aren't always going to work in various scenarios.

My bank doesnt have prepaid visa cards and it doesnt allow me to do online transactions with my debit card.
So yeah just TWO WEEKS BIOTCHES!

Pause. I feel all Slowpoke.jpg right now, but I rewatched the Dante SRK video again and heard something else just now that made me go "really Dante?"

When DT is active and you switch out not only do you suspend the countdown for how long you can keep it active, but the 15% attack boost is given to your other characters... Good God shit's getting blown up from orbit now. :lol

Hey Fersis...check a few pages back and see the SNK love that was part of my birthday surprise from my wife...it will make you feel better ;)

though the Easy mode give MvC3 an edge on SF4 in that matter....
Its nowhere close man. Imagine Ibuki's gatling combos for every player - everything branches in some kind of way.

lmh
mmh
j.lmh

its all the same shit and it all leads to a big ass combo. and with assists thrown in, mixups and crossups are everyday stuff.... even if you don't know what one is, odds are you'll do 4 in a match if you mash hard enough

Yeah I had a few arcade bezels in my closet and she picked those three out all by herself and made an incredible piece of wall art.

Reviews aren't generally directed towards the hardcore because we're gonna buy shit anyway. What seems like silly complaints to us might be perfectly valid when seen through the lens of the game's broader audience.

Still though, I don't get how anyone can complain about the lack of unlockables. Having a ton of unlockables is great (so long as it doesn't take away from being able to play the game to its fullest right of the box, like the unlockables in vanilla SF4 did) but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing you should complain about if it's not there. Like if I go out to a restaurant and the food is great, I'm not gonna complain if I don't get a mint. I will complain if they flub something that's important to the core experience though, like having shitty online features in a game that's gonna be primarily played online.

But I also don't get why achievements/trophies are so important to some people that they will go out of their way to do the ones they don't have fun doing and there seems to be a lot of that in the "hardcore" gaming community, so...maybe I'm just missing something.

So anyway, the SRK guide is pretty dope. Really impressive.

Then you can't think of many. There's nothing too deep about it, its just full of lots of shit that does the same thing and tons of stuff that'll make you say wow. I'm not trying to knock the game but I don't think people should be painting a picture thats simply not true.

Are you going to Falsce Roman Cancel to create an unblockable? No.
Are you a character thats completely reliant on frame traps? No.
Are you trying to turn a round around and at the same time banking on building meter for the next by using a last ditch lvl 3 FA into an 10 hit combo with 1 frame links into Ultra? Fuck no.

This is not that game.

Not true. Its only his assist that gets that boost. Same with Arthur and his armor and stuff like that...

No they're saying Dante gets to keep the damage boost when he goes in for assist, it doesn't transfer to other chars.

I'm laughing at people passing judgment on this game's 'deepness' before it's even technically out.

@DY_nasty

I feel like you're going to have to define 'deep' here. Something being execution intensive does not make it deep. The way I see it, how deep something is is determined by the possible ways to do stuff. We walk in day one and see combo X as the most prevalent. But then we walk in a month later and see combo Y as prevalent because it's more useful. Then a year later people might be doing combo Z because it took them that long to figure out a particular combination of things required for combo Z. And so on. If people are finding stuff to do years after the fact, then it's a deep game.

Joystiq review. 5 stars out of 5 for those who care.

NICE! I dont't know why but im such a reviews whore.

Joystiq review
As usual, Capcom knows what it's doing with online play in the fighting genre. At no point did I notice any slowdown while playing against online opponents, even during the more graphically intense moments of the game. In a genre that requires precise timing and quick reactions, I'd expect nothing less, but it's worth commending due to other games being marred by lackluster online play.

Who said that online is broken?

Shoryuken motions.. How do they work?!

I cant for the LIFE OF ME bust out with Dragon Punch motions on command..

What is this shortcut? I Try to go from forward to downforward but i end up overshooting and doing a fireball or a superjump. HOW do I perfect the dragon punch?!

I have to quit mission mode if a combo has too many in it.

Just go from forward to down and then (almost) to forward again, then press the button.

you're really downplaying where the depth of Marvel is dude you're mistaken lookin at every character by themselves, and compare em to SF characters...

Marvel basically is a One on One fighting game, each character in your team are basically a part of your VOLTRON.

aside from FA, everything u posted exist in Marvel too.
