Any die hard, dedicated community will have very vocal detractors of new incarnations. Someone on the internet disliking the game and personally prophesizing it's fate does not affect me at all. The game isn't officially out yet, and people like to jump ship on opinions. Let's get at least a month in before we call bomba or anything. Premature meltdowns are immature meltdowns.
In my honest opinion, this game will have long legs. MvC2 did and it was a more broken, and in many ways a less complete package than this. I really, really doubt this game will bomb. 1 million copies sold, I think, is pretty much cemented in place. I expect 5 mill if they don't churn out Super MvC3.
I picked this up at a local mom and pop today in nyc for 360.
Big fan of #2, but I don't play fighting games too often. Probably sunk around 30 hours total into sf4/ssf4. Having way way way more fun with this, game runs smooth as butter with no slowdown and I really loved the variety in the different characters...they all play way differently. Only played arcade mode twice so far, will probably hop online soon, but I see myself playing this way more than any recent fighting game. Seems a lot less button-mashy than #2.

So I found out why I can't get into any Ranked Matches. The search function is a skill matchmaking process, so it won't really let you farm people of low skill for very long to rack up wins.
Literally, the only people I fight now are the top 5's on the rank leaderboards, and the majority of them are pretty damn bad and rely on sentinel XF and other runaway gimmicks. Also something odd, Marn is completely gone from the boards as well.

Hey let's put in one of the greatest collections of video game music ever put into a game, now let's add tripping! Counterintuitive measures. Still, stuff like Minus and Plus have made according refinements. A lot of the Brawl community snapped really quick though, that was frightening to see.Ultimoo said:

Bayonetta is way too nice a character to not grace a fighting game. What's worse is seeing how well Dante crossed into a 2D fighter and thinking "well fuck, Bayo would murder". :lol

Marvel will do just fine competitively because it will continuously generate new-blood in the future because it's the new game. This will happen regardless of its merits in relation to its predecessor - just like Brawl.
