So is online ranked like 50% teams with Sentinal for those who are playing already? I don't mind OP characters (I always pick low tier anyways) but I do really hope that with 36 characters I get to enjoy a bit of cast variation when playing online.
High damage, high health characters will always be popular online. It's the easiest way to win. Sagat in SF4 was everywhere, then SSF4 nerfs his damage, and Sagat is nowhere to be found.

I see now, thank you. Of course, my slow reflexes and use of a DS aren't really helping me here.
Just keep practicing and you'll get it! :)

And as far as online, a lot of Iron Mans (Men?) and Ryus. I've only fought 2-3 Sentinels, I expected more (I'm using Sent on my mega-awesome team :D).

I'm having trouble with consistency doing the launcher into Air M M H S on some characters. I'll get it fine some time, and sometimes they will fall after Air H or the Air S will wiff. Any reason why that's happening? Does it matter where I hold the stick during the launcher?
You need to hit up right away after the launcher in order to match where the character you hit flies up. Then it's much easier to get those combos off in the air. Also, the air S is a good time to bust out an Aerial Exchange if you don't have any characters that can OTG (or you just need to make a swap or need to build meter).

Looks like I probably won't get any game in till tomorrow :(

I have the game sitting here in my backpack and it's torture cuz I have work to do atm.

HOW the fuck do you beat Galactus and how many forms does he have? I beat the liquid form, is his Giant self the last form? Playing on Very Hard.

Giant is last form, and just play aggressive as you can with xfactor.. (I beat it on first try) Just spam deadpool, ironman and ammy's meter boost assist.

Heads up for those who ordered from the Capcom Store. The tracking number supplied is now working on USPS. My SE is sitting somewhere in Indiana right now.

Anyone in NY or the East coast have their copy delivered yet?

Stay free capcom store.

same shit here :/

Man I can't believe how easy it is to win with Sentinel. I'll barely do any damage to someone's team and bee down to just Sentinel and I XFactor and shit dies in mere seconds. The machine ftw.

Getting the review copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tomorrow maybe, but I'm not really feeling the excitement just yet, maybe I'll be all over it when I have it. I remember playing MvC2 on the Dreamcast 10 years ago against my cousins in Asia, that was pretty fun.

I know that. I'm saying Shit will whiff, or they will just fall down. I do it fast, I do it slow, it's the same. I don't know if holding up forward or just up during the launcher for the SJC makes a difference, that's why I'm asking.

Shouldn't make a difference. The directions matter when doing team air exchange, but not on the initial launcher.

I got the same problem with Storm... but only with Storm. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I do M, H, S, M, M, H, S and sometimes the last S will completely whiff and Storm is under the opponent. I "kind of" solved it by reducing the amount of hits I do before actually doing the last S like this: M, H, S, M, H, S works 100% of the times.

I can deal 3/4 life with dr. doom and 1 bar. Stay free.

My mvc3 doom is already superior to my mvc2 doom.

I actually haven't ran into too many Sentinels online. Maybe like 4 or 5 in the 60 or so matches I've fought. Dante is WAY more prevalent. I think I've fought a Dante every other match.

Yeah I've been avoiding overly cheap crap (to some extent) with Sent and just working on combos. It's been a mix. Most people can't deal with him but once in a while I've played someone with some skill that can take me out.

Of course I save my X-Factor for a little bit of this:

My problem with Doom right now is that he feels a lot more "stiffer" than he did in MvC2... maybe it's because his zoning game is worse...
enzo_gt said:
But seriously, he has forms? Or are you guys just talking about the two heralds and then facing galactus afterwards?
Yeah lol... "forms" as in phases. First the ink guys, then the actual boss.

I finally realized why I suck at these type of games.

I can't do quarter circles for shit.

Like at least constantly any way.

In fact I can;t do that z looking motion either.

I want to get better but man it's something as simple as that will get in the way.

PRACTICE TIME.

also Wolverine in the hands of a spaz is fucking madness.

Knux-Future, pad or stick?

If pad, PS3 or 360?

huh? From my time with him so far he feels a lot smoother in 3.

What is the recommended button layout for a stick?

Thanks :D

Mad Catz = Type B
HORI = Type Y

L M H
S A1 A2

Hard to explain... One example is that I don't recall his recovery frames on his pew-pew from air being that high in MvC2.

I've been disconnected twice form live sofar while playing and the second time was during a match. I never get random disconnection let alone two in a short span live acting funny for anyone else?

I know man. It's stupid as fuck. But...

THANK GOD FOR SENTINEL! THANK GOD FOR THE MACHINE!! THANK GOD!!!

What controller settings should I be using for my SSF4 TE fightstick? I messed around with a couple of my own concoctions but nothing really feels right.

MvC3 was done in-house, not by eighting.
There's a big ass Eighting logo in the credits so they must have done something.

Yikes, I must really suck at this game. I can't even figure out how to do Wolverine's Mission 06. :/
Ignore mission mode. It does a better job of demoralizing new players than teaching them. Check out the shoryuken wiki (or the strategy guide, which is really amazing) and get some combos from that, then test them out in training mode. If you're really dead set on doing missions then check out youtube to see exactly what the hell you're supposed to be doing, since the game doesn't bother telling you.

Biggest issue with these Capcom games: they don't bother teaching you a damn thing.

I have a SFIV fightpad, I didnt care for it so much playing SFIV and Marvel 2... But controller feels perfect with this game! I love it!!!

My cousin who has trouble playing the game is now beasting with it!

Yep. Shame I really never got to play with anyone :(

i think i need to make a giant sign on the wall that says "CHAIN INTO S, NOT DOWN-FORWARD HEAVY"

You'll get used to it in a couple of hours. Same happened to me on Friday.

That's funny because I'm using storm. It's weird that it does that. Anyway, I like the game a lot. I feel I couldn't accomplish shit in MVC2 simply because half the roster wasn't usable. Wavedashing is 100x easier as well. I need to find me a third person for my team.

Just tried it out a couple of times again... yeah it seems so damn random. Anyway, until we figure it out, after S do the (air) M, H, S... adding another hit might fuck the combo up unfortunately :(
Threi said:
btw: how do people wavedash backwards? I got wavedashing forward down, but wavedashing backward is a bit trickier.
Unfortunately don't think there's a "trick" for it. I use the same method as normal wavedashing (I press forward + ATKATK, even though I know ATKATK is enough ._.), but instead I hold the stick back.

How do you do that combo? I want to make mags my third but can't figure any good combos out

crouching light medium hard into launcher, jump forward, hard, air dash forward, medium hard, land, jump forward, hard, air dash forward, medium hard, land, hard, cancel into shockwave, or in the corner, cancel into light hyper grab, relaunch then air combo, exchange into level three or whatever

My MODOK is ass, but I refuse to give up. I'm really loving Phoenix at the mo.

No Ken? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

But seriously, is this game as good as 2? I put ungodly amount of time into that...monstrosity.

I haven't bought a game in a year, its either this or GT5. And this is making me salivate.

How is deadpool? and amaterasu? If either one is boss, I will buy.
Everyone in this game is boss. With the exception of maybe Ryu, but really it's still too early to tell what he may be able to pull off.

Abuse the living CRAP out of his "down forward" air dash... it's so good and such a good way getting in.

Pad and fightpad on PS3.

The regualr pad is hard as shit to get anything off. so what i've ended up doing ( normally after getting owned hard) I spin the stick around and jamming on 2 attacks button to get anything off.

On the fightpad ( outside of forgetting to map the launcher button therefore fucking over my x-factor), I faired slightly better but it still felt like I didn't know exactly what I was doing.

It's like I know the moves but have no clue how to do them on command. shit sucks but I'll keep at, this game doesn't have any charge characters for me to gravitate to so I'm gonna have to man up and get to work
