Switch the art and disc to the case of a game you don't play anymore.
It's the SE. It's the Tin. The plastic connector is chipped and has a decent size crack where in connects too.

It's worth asking. I remember my RE5 Steelbook was broken, and they had me send the broken one to them so they could send me a new Steelbook. I can't remember who I contacted. It may have been the Capcom Store, even though I didn't order from them.
Guess I'll email Capcom too.

Okay help me out here a bit. I received a broken case. The inside plastic is cracked, where the bottom is falling apart a bit. Basically the connecting between the two Tin's is broken. It's broken, but it's still holding together. I contacted Amazon and they said I could return it for a new one or take 20% off the price I paid(12$). Do you know if it is possible for Capcom to sell replacement cases? I don't really want to wait for a new copy, and 20% is tempting. Is there a way to repair them too?
Is it the standard edition case?

If so, you can get replacement cases off eBay for like $2. I had to replace my broken Nier case and just slid the boxart in to the new case and you'd never know the difference.

Edit: Ah, saw your new post. Contact Capcom, though they will likely tell you to return it to Amazon.

I'm officially in love with Dormammu.

My team at the moment is Dormammu(Black Hole) / Trish(Peekaboo) / Storm (Whirlwind)

Though I'm wondering whether I should keep Trish or Storm in there. Both are good, but I feel I could replace one with something a bit more, well, decent.

Good lord.. Shinkiro art is so gawd like.

That's pretty cool and all but here's a noodle scratcher for you:

How exactly is Dormammu in silhouette? His head is made of fire. It's a light source. It would not, therefore, block the light source behind it.

My UK copy has been dispatched from zavvi (apparently).
Only reason I ordered there and not shopto was because I had money off codes so it worked out cheaper and the T-shirt looked kinda cool. I really hope zavvi don't be twats with their delivery again like they were with my last few orders. 2-5 days until I get it apparently. Hope it comes Friday.

Fuckin amazon making me go to my shitty gamestop for the guide.

Had to stand behind two women buying an xbox for her kid and they didn't even know wtf they needed...Plus gamestop pulled out their card bullshit.

This guide better help me suck less.

Today's obligatory "fuck you, Capcom store... Still no sign of my game" post... At least the tracking information has been updated, but it's still about two states away as of 5pm-ish yesterday. Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow. :-/

Definitely not pre-ordering anything through Capcom's online store ever again and advising all friends and family against it as well. Such horse shit. Don't say people will have it on release day if they order by x day unless it's true! GGRRRR!

The tracking said my copy showed up in my city as of 5 AM yesterday and still hasn't shown up here yet. On top of that my order is gone from all the tracking services so I have no idea what the hell is going on. Shit is driving me crazy. I knew I should have just bought it locally.

I need some help from the experienced.

I hate switching characters just because someone is spamming projectiles. Thanks to SF I can adapt, but sometimes that shit is frustrating as hell. My team consists of Wesker / Mag / Sent in that order. Wesker is point and builds up meter for me to go to work with either Maggy or Sent. Outside of the EM Disruptor assist and Sent force, how do you get in on keep-away assholes like Deadpool and co.

Disruptor comes out quick, but eating chip damage when I'm on the field with Mag is not ideal, especially when they have someone like Storm on reserve for Ice Storm shenanigans.

I'm already considering replacing Sent, but right now the team "works" for me.

How are you at Wesker's teleport? I know you're not wanting to keep switching out character to handle keep away games, but sometimes its better to. If you really want to stay out I'm not certain if advancing guard helps a lot with this...for sentinel I'd tap fierce and shoot my mouth laser and then wave dash to close the gap. You might not make it all the way inside their zone, but you'll definitely get it in a few tries. especially with how good is wave dashing distance is.

Magneto is a bit harder because of the flight issue. If you like to hover and fly he is really gonna suffer against someone who can beast Deadpool's Happy trigger. You may simply have to out zap them at their own keep away game with shockwave blasts from Magneto to lure them into a different strategy. You have 3 guys with good distance shots so you may be able to pull this off well enough to make someone reconsider being a douche.

Also assists are good only to a degree. Unlike MVC2 where characters were the most vulnerable at the beginning of assists in this game you usually score a few invincibility frames upon their entering the screen. Test your assists and see if you can't learn which assists pop off quick enough that you can either wave dash after it clears a path or at the minimum safely guard your partners departure from return fire. Lots of assists are sweet in this game. I'm pretty certain wesker has a great dash one that can be used to cut a path across the screen. I haven't tested it's rushdown capabilities yet, but it seemed to free off a good chunk of screen before he took a hit if at all. If he gets hit just let him stay out long enough to recover from this gamble after you close the gap.

It's the best I can tell you till I play more. Hope it helps.

Man SheHulk's runner start input is annoying as hell. I know why they did it... but I hate non standard motions like that.

Like Lei-Lei alot, except for her dash, annoying as hell when I get a fullscreen stun and know I won't reach them in time.

I had to call about 6 Gamestops in my area before I finally found one that had the strategy guide. Of course the one that finally had it had like 10 copies just sitting there :/ So much info to soak in, amazing guide.

I've always sucked at fighting games but I really want to learn this one and get halfway decent. Screwed around in training mode last night for about 1-2 hours and had a blast.

I still have yet to receive my Capcom order. I wound up just going to my local K-Mart and picking up an SE for the Xbox 360. Now, the next big question is, do I simply return my second SE copy, or see if any fellow Gaffers want it?

I've always been way more fond of Street Fighter over the Vs. series (though I love MvC), but I am having more and more fun with MvC3, as I learn the mechanics. I'm having a riot with Arthur. His game of keep away is too great, even if I sweat a little when someone gets al up on his grill.

Dante seems way too OP. He sort of reminds me of Captain Commando, in that he has a large response to just about any attack. Though he does a LOT of damage. I still miss m Captain Commando, though. :(

That'd make me crazy for sure. I just hope it gets here safe, sound and soon... I seriously thought for a minute that maybe it got stolen. I thought it was weird that there was no activity on the tracking number yesterday.

Would swing get you there quicker?

Anyone of you have overexposure issues? I've been playing nonstop since Fri, and I went home last night, went into the lab, played a few matches, got rocked, and then back into the lab and I couldn't get any of my normal combo's. Like NADA.

I just had to stop playing for the night it was so sucky. Maybe I was more tired than I thought or something.

So I think the thing I'm having the most trouble getting used to at this point is how much this game relies on all kinds of crazy means of transportation to get around. It's a far cry from SSF4. Not that I was expecting it to be similar or anything.

The button layout is also taking a bit of getting used to. Like if I have a move that looks like a heavy kick sometimes I'll push the A2 button because that was the heavy kick button in SF4.

Combine all this with assists and a ton of other mechanics that I'm not used to and too often I'll find myself in the middle of a fight thinking too much about what I should be doing, and you can't really do in this game because everything happens so fast.

I'll get used to it all pretty quick, but right now it's pretty humbling how terrible I am at this game.

I'm trying to learn She-Hulk and my fingers hate the runner start input too. Down, Down, S, forward or back, then whatever does not come naturally. I played Fuerte in SF4 and his run was a lot easier to go in and out of. Hopefully I'll be able to train myself to the point where I can do it quickly. Comboing using her run into torpedo OTG is rough to get out quick enough.

As for Lei-Lei, have you tried using an assist that hits fullscreen? There might be one out there that works well with that stun and will help Lei-Lei get in slowly. Might be worth experimenting with.

is it just me and my suckage or are the missions kinda hard?

Most of them seem easy to me until 7 or 8 or so. Then they get pretty hard. But half of the reason they're hard is because you have to memorize all kinds of shit.

Rummy Bunnz said:
Yeah, it's better than SF4's, but for quite a few characters it quickly goes from 'extremely basic' to 'you'll probably never use this in an actual match.' And even if they are good combos they can be tricky for some folks since there STILL isn't a demo showing you how to do the combo. And the inputs aren't displayed on screen at all times. And the later missions can't fit all the moves on screen simultaneously. It's an improvement but it's still lacking.

At least it teaches you the super easy bullshit Sentinel combos though!

I wasn't able to figure out (partially due to evil German beer) how to show the commands for the combos on screen in Training mode/Mission mode like in SSFIV where you would just hit select and the actual button's one would need to press to complete the combo show onscreen. This is much more convenient than going into the pause menu so I hope it's possible.

So whats the best way to cancel/counter/tell the teacher on Dante's special barrage of death? I'll go in close for a grenade attack with Deadpool and get wiped out. Also I've been playing a lot with Deadpool, and Ryu/Akuma but I need a better ranged third character, any suggestions?

I haven't gotten the game, but I'm really interested in the Missions. To those of you who play SSF4, how's the difficulty compared to challenge mode? I enjoyed the difficulty of the trials.

Newb question - How, if you can, do you get out of team aerial combos? Maybe it was just a string of games I was playing, but everytime I got launched, I was hit with the full maximum everyone on the team getting a piece combo. I can do them, but still struggling to hit them without any sort of regularity. It seemed like everyone was seasoned vets last night at it.

Can anyone reliably do Dante's SRK + M xx SRK + M style change move? It changes it from the Beowulf ground pound to a bunch of punches/kicks with the Beowulf gloves/boots. It seems like a pretty awesome move (I think it launches at the end), but I can't get it to come out reliably at all in practice mode.

This similar to my experience. The main difference is while the game feels familiar in concept for a number of reasons - the controls scheme is killing me. Right now, I hate it.

When you see the flash that indicates they're going for it, you have to try to match their S + direction input when they do it. That gets you out and resets the situation. Left and right are considered the same for it. Down generates the most meter when used and up generates none. More or less you just have to guess, srk tried mashing it in a circle to counter and got a 33% success rate, which is the same.

I've only played the game for a couple of hours, but I haven't been able to do any of Dante's "double" moves (i.e. moves where you are supposed to follow up with the same motions a second time). I have no idea what the timing is supposed to be on those. It seems like Capcom fighting games in general ignore the importance of timing when it comes to explaining their special moves and combos. They tell you what to press, but not when to do it.

doom is SO sick.

SOOOOOOOOO SICK.
if someone calls in an assist, can you trap both of them in his level 3? that would be quite hilarious.

im thinking of putting doom on my team. having both chun and magneto isn't smart for me since im not a great defensive character and they have shit health

Anyone think there is a chance they'll add 5-10 new characters or more via DLC eventually or do we think it will be less than that? I love the game and it's awesome but I would pay every time if they kept adding new characters.

If it's anything like the copy I bought the shipping company hands it off to the local Postal Service (in my case, it has been handed over to USPS for delivery). I expect it to take another full day or two to get delivered from the handover date. I just went to my local Fry's and found the CE.... I'm never preordering from a website again. Fry's always has a CE in stock.

ok dr doom is pretty good :] not too tough to use either, which is exactly what im looking for.

Skrull/Doom/???

hmm. i like mag but i dont know if my execution is up to par. i know im not going to be able to commit a ton of time since i play other games. decisions decisions

Personally, I think there's a good chance that Capcom will go all out on the character front. I don't expect them to go over MvC2 numbers (56 total) but I do see them coming close, especially with all the hype from thefanbase and their clamoring for characters (thus showing interest in more DLC Capcom can charge for).
