Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

I like Phoenix, but her health is way to low she needs a 200,000 health buff to put her on Seths level, not to mention damage output is so high at this game compared to SSF4, yeah she is broken alright :(

edit: Seth would be dirty in this game lol

Honestly I just think that if they let leilei keep her super armor active while tagged out but removed her ability to regenerate red life or cut the regeneration rate in half while she is using it it would be fine.

The biggest problem is it's just plain too hard to kill her while she's in reserve, and snap backs are a possibility but when you're using that assist correctly it's hard to get much of anything going.

Killjoy!

Swung by Gamestop and put some hands-on-time on Marvel 3.

First, WTF was going through Capcom's mind making L/M/H K/P into just L/M/H? :|

It's not bad, but it's weird going from Marvel 2 to this.

Assists and switch outs being on the same button/command is kinda stupid. I can understand why it's done, but meh.

Chris and Wesker play really well for a fighting game. I was impressed. Their assists seem to suck working together though. My Biohazard team, ruined. :(

Day $30, however!

Marvel 2 had 4 attack buttons and two assist buttons

this is similar to the Tatsunoko vs Capcom setup and a lot of anime fighters. Probably an attempt to get the japanese audience.

YES.

Flip through one if you see it. Pictorial shot of every move(basics, specials ...you name it) for recognition purposes. Breakdown of how many frames of invincibility each move has. Strengths, weaknesses and uses for each move listed (both situational uses and specific uses against other moves and tactics). And more tips, tactics and strategies than you'll see in any other guide book.

It feels like shoryuken wrote this thing.

I think either Haggar or She-hulk might.

It's more like FGC wrote it. Buktooth was one of the writers :o

Awesome. I'll definitely pick it up then. I've never gotten hardcore into fighters, but that's also partially because the information online is very difficult to digest.

So really, am I the only one using Spencer? I know his normals are pretty shit tier, but he's so much fun to use. Pulling an opponent into a Sentinel Force assist is troll tier awesome. :lol

I'll play him more often as soon as he gets the inevitable Re-Armed alt as DLC. I agree he's pretty cool to use aside from that.

There needs to be some kind of downside to using such an awesome assist. Lei Lei isn't a bad character in her own right either.

Just needs to be easier to kill her, then you're taking a risk by using her assist that it's going to be a 2v3 match then.

She needs less.

Anytime you get hit while using her, its your fault and your fault alone. The only weakness in Phoenix's game is that she's still vulnerable to human error and mistakes in the player's judgment.

I haven't actually tried her against live opponents, but watching some of these pros play i have yet to see her on someones first team. Yeah i think she is good but broken? not a chance those guys hit you once it's over.

Looks like I have a new main. I really like what I've seen with her so far and I'm all about over-powered characters with unique move sets above over-powered shotos.

People already want Hsien-Ko's assist nerfed? Wow. You may she's "not that bad" on her own, but she doesn't really have that much going for her outside of the assist. Maybe if they doubled her speed and let her cancel pendulums again.

I really hate that you can't see the current battle when you're in a non ranked match, they really need to change that.

I also can't ever get connected to a quick match.

Anyone got their Comic book code working? The code seems to work but the page reloads every time i hit subscribe.

Need to put in credit card info. Just do the extra month for $1, easiest way to do it.

I dunno yet. Haven't come up with a good strategy to deal with it.

Certainly, approaching wesker with super armor leilei is the wrong way to go about this.

Storm's Ice Storm seems to deal good damage if he's not too close to you (which he probably always is, because, why not?)

Searched around a bit but wasn't able to find an answer. How does the voice chat work in this? Are all players in a lobby able to converse at all times or is it limited to the people fighting, etc.? Thanks :)

She still takes damage, and she doesn't have much health anyways. You can snapback, problem solved. With all the other crazy shenanigans in the game I don't know why someone would have an issue with this.

Decent keep away, good normals. But ya... speed really hurts with her. If you get in on her it's sad panda time.

Went online. Played people my same "rank", lost nine out of nine.

I quit. It's like Starcraft II all over again. Bronze tier my ass.

why would people buy these types of games, play for one day, not be awesome at it, and then give up?

The value in these kinds of competitive games is in learning to get better. At least starcraft 2 has a good story/single player mode. MvC3 for SP only is a joke at $60

Well leilei is just the start.

Start a wesker combo, launch, tag in sent, slam, rocket punch, HSF, lol.

That stuff isn't so bad but when leilei makes it so safe and so hard to defend at close range I dunno what to do against it, yet.

I'm sure strategies will improve. It's one of those deal with it situations, really.

Just play arcade mode and accept invites. I 100% guarantee that you are no worse then I am (I'm not sure that's even possible), and I've won about 50% or so. Just stay out of ranked and you should be fine, at least in the early months where lots of folks are still learning the game there will be plenty of bad players to play each other.

Haha... I've been sticking to unranked matches thus far. For me, this game has a much steeper learning curve than SSF4, hell, I had an easier time learning SC2 (my first time playing SC) and hit a decent W/L ratio -- still sucky but I at least felt like it were mistakes made as oppose to feeling like I don't know what the hell I'm doing/going on.

I've started playing 'normal' matches against easy --> normal a.i. in training mode... it's helped a little.

I just don't know how to approach this game. I want to make my own team and learn to play with it. But the problem is that I have absolutely no experience with MvC, or fighting games in general for that matter. Certainly not enough to figure how to do 20 or 30 hit combos on my own using a weird combination of cancel/assists and possibly resets. But I don't want to learn to play sentinel just because his assist is great and you keep him in reserve the whole time until the other two characters are dead so you can x factor and dish out crazy damage.

Can't her command throw be good if people try and get in?

you need to pick teams that complement each other.

I like tron with chun because tron has higher health and can keepaway a little bit at least. And chun's assist helps hold people in place for tron to get in. Not sure about my third yet though.

"Can't her command throw be good if people try and get in?"

The range on her command throw is pretty bad. Also, the startup is pretty slow. Trying a reversal command throw while assists are on the screen and someone's rushing you down is just going to get you destroyed.

She's not going to be that popular at first because she's new and there's a huge red flag because of the health. Seeing a character die in 5 hits is a huge turn off to most, but not for the masochists.

Once you get past the bleeding issue, you'll see that she's Chris, Doom, Chun, Trish, Wesker, and Storm all wrapped into one character. Yeah, she's got low health but it doesn't matter nearly as much as in this game as it would in others because almost everyone can be dropped in 5 seconds anyways. The only difference between Phoenix and the rest of the cast is that she can die from dropped combos instead of the huge heavy hitting combos that end in hypers - HOWEVER you've still got to get past the player's normal defenses. Its not like she can't block. Hell, because of her zoning and speed, she's even harder to touch than most and you have to take much greater risks when approaching her as well.

Right now, the streams are filled with comboez and such. It probably won't even be apparent in the first few tournaments. But the end is coming. I've seen it.
