He's not just talking about potential DLC. He's talking about layout and the overall presentation of your game. MvC and SF4 have completely different presentations, and it can be confusing and off putting at first.

I know what he is talking about, but Capcom decided selling DLC was more important. Can you blame them? The community didn't care. Reviewers didn't care. The game was scored highly across the board. That's all they care about.

Trying to ask S-Kill any hard questions will result in nothing. No one will do it as they are too scared. Who will do it? SRK? Eventhubs? Iplaywinner? IGN? Gameinformer? No one cares.

Capcom's number one priority should be Spectator Mode. Not characters, not balance, not UI fixes: nothing is more important than Spectator Mode.

Capcom is a company though. Their number 1 priority will be whatever makes them the most money, so expect fanservice costumes and DLC roster updates. Spectating would be nice, but I assume most people who buy the game don't want to sit around in lobbies, they just want to play.

I couldn't care less about new characters. Everything that doesn't involve the actual gameplay is pretty jank right now.

This is the one thing that I will actually give them a break on. It really should have been in here from the beginning but i'm guessing they are having problems multicasting the input actions to the other systems game engines. Maybe network throughput was affected too much or they are already utilizing the shit of out the processors to do local stuff.

Yes it needs to be in but there could be legit technical reasons it not in. The other stuff not so much.

Too scared? Too happy to play the game more likely!
The game is too much fon for any reasonable gamer to think about HARD QUESTIONS - because punishing MVC3 in sales for the mistakes would hurt the genre more than rewarding it even with its faults.

Because you can rest assured that Capcom management would not care for the next project greenlighting if it is a fighter. It was already hard enough for the genre to come back, let us not pretend there is alternative to play with in the VS field.

But yeah, I will put this game an 8 in my review, most likely. One minus for the lack of options, proper settings, UI, needed features after matches, and one minus for the "did not even try" online section - as everything else is perfect in the game.

Whoa, Doc Ock was the villain I was pushing for WAY back when. About equally as awesome as Green Goblin being in, but damn, I could've swore that was a BS leak.

I can understand complications for spectator mode but things like:
-Button configuration
-Lack of lobby options
-No kick option
-No replay option in lobby mode
-Needing to make a button to do recording

Those are surely not mt framework problems.

Bad UI and System problems. Capcom should commission Tony Cannon aka Ponder (creator of GGPO) or someone with his mindset to iron out wrinkles in their online modes.

I've been doing all right online so far.
Only played 4 ranked matches though (won all 4)
Team was Dante, Morrigan and Phoenix using Morrigans hyper meter building assist but I like Amaterasu more so swapped her in in Morrigans plaace using her meter building assist. It gives 25% instead of 30% but I'm better with Ammy so it's worth it.
Dark Phoenix is such a beast. X-factored I took out a Sentinel from full hp without even realising.

I am not a game developer but I am an engineer so I cannot attest to the mentality of game developers. If they are anything like a lot of the CS people I know in grad school and undergrad their mentality is probably we just churn out code and make it work.

As an engineer we make modular things and attempt to follow a pretty good process so you can reproduce this stuff without inventing the wheel. You build some ground level stuff you can use on your game engine then you make modules to lay on top of it. At the end of the day it saves you money. You already have a good ground layer(im not talking about just the game engine here). Get some baseline human computer interaction people involved so your interface is not borked. Should not need to go back to a different menu if you can't find a match for me... just keep searching.

Maybe their time to market is too quick in the game industry? Maybe they did not have the expertise needed? Maybe they just don't care because at the end of the day this game is guaranteed to be succesful?

Note: I love this game and I knew I would love it before it was released. Ordered special edition for both systems(Still waiting on my 360 version from the crapcom store). I am just saying they should really put some more love into the overall packaging. The diehard fighting fans like us dont care but I guarantee you the person new to the genre will feel like its extremely incomplete.

Why are blue zombie girls so damn cute?

I'm getting sick of the lag causing me to be unable to team attack counter in the air when playing online.

The lag in this game right now is 100x worse than it ever was for SIV. PS3 here. Most of the fights are not coming down to skill, but luck and who has the worse lag.

Any advice on how to team attack counter in the air dealing with lag?

At this point, with the lag being this bad, I'm thinking of not playing online until they patch this shit. It borders on unplayable.

I've been playing all this time and goddamn did this thread move fast. I have to continue to agree with the people who believe that the game is barebones outside of it's rich and creamy game play center.

I still see myself playing this game for a long time to come. Got my first rage quitter about an hour ago too!

Edit:
Oh, and ranked is also finally working. This will be much better than entering training mode every time.

All these UI problems don't need a crazy programmer or something (spectator probably does).

Some smart producer should had seen these things and asked for changes. I don't know how Capcom works, but other publishers have groups that look at playability and menu layout. When I worked in QA, I know for sure we looked at menu layouts and suggested changes/fixes (still up to producers and whoever to want to do the changes).

I just want easier button mapping and the ability to save at least replays in offline verses mode. Also not kicking you to a previous menu when you have a disconnect error. Making it so you don't have to map a button for recording in practice mode and the menu layout of mission mode would be next.

I agree they must have rushed through QA ,not taken feedback or, they did not have good testers.

Well this is peculiar... Has anyone who filled out the redemption form with their SE gotten their DLC code (for Jill and Shuma)? I submitted it a little earlier and it just gave some generic message that on 3/15/2011 -- which was yesterday -- I'd get an email with the code, and if not there, in my Capcom Unity message box. No sign of it in either as of yet. :-/

Edit: Nevermind... I'm an idiot. :lol For some reason my brain was thinking it was DLC that was up the day after release; not a month later.

Think about it for a second. Get back to me.

man I just got murdered online multiple times. So many full screen hypers connecting... and I swear I'm holding back ; _ ;

I mean, I know I suck at this game, but that's just fucking crappy.

3/15/2011 wasn't yesterday bro :)

...until Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ripped time to shreds and I'm stuck in the past?

I'm about to hit up Gamestop with some games to trade in.

Hoping for around 40$ based on how much they are on their website:
Call of Duty 4: 10$ (sell for like 5$)
Soul Calibur 4: 20$ (10$)
Uncharted 1: 22$ (10$)
Burnout Paradise: 20$ (10$)
Dark Sector: 5$ (2$)
Alien vs Predator (hardest game to sell because I loved it!): 25$ (13$)

so...

around 50$ optimistically...

:C

I hate being unemployed because it means my game collection has to shrink for my enjoyment of a new game to exist.

I have noticed the online game likes to stuff your inputs sometimes. The game in general might not feel slow online but your inputs definitely get stuffed and register later. Haunts said he experienced problems getting basic bnbs off and I am surmising he was experience the input stuffing also.

This is totally a "LOL NOOB PWNED" question but in missions, when it gives you a symbol that says ATK, what does that mean?

For instance for Wolverine to do a Draw Claw Forward, it's S and ATK.

S and any of the attack buttons. L M or H

Maybe that. But I also know production teams are supposed to do quality/suggestion passes as well during development.

I got to thinking though, maybe there no saving replays because there would be licensed Marvel characters in the replays that could be distributed? Just my wild speculation, because SSF4 had it, hehe.

Well if anyone asks, that's the reason I can't get a win.

Any button. You hit both at the same time.

I know you were joking but they way the online is handled in this game is weird. I cant put my finger on it. Sometimes the game seems the right speed but my actions are really not happening . It makes it really hard to stop projectile spam, or block some high low mixups. Maybe I just suck.

Man, this stuff has to get fixed and soon.

Coming off of SSIV, which is pretty great online, playing MvC3 online just feels so...ancient.

Another extra stupid thing about the game is the controller config I don't get it what is everyones damn problem. Just let people push the button they want for a given action. Why do you have to scroll through a list of items to match actions to buttons.

un6tk.jpg

So that they can allow button binding.

Bleepey said:

They can easily allow binding ,have some set of inputs that you can cycle through the binding configs. Best of both worlds. Basic non multi binded buttons are just you hit the button when you scroll over the action. Hope I explained that well.

L
M
H These buttons get set when you scroll over and hit a button
S
A1
A2

Binding(variable amount of actions here)
----------
X+X+X <-> X+X You can chose the bindings you want and map them to a button.

OK some of these missions are super unfair

I get SFIV and SSFIV that you want to give the player a challenge

This is MvsC3, your trying to grab that core/casual market, for fun, and these missions feel like work, not fun things you want to learn, try and add in to your repertoire, to be a better player

Wolverine mission #5 was L, M, L, H, S, (Air) M, M, H, S, took me 15 minutes just to memorize the combo route
(I shudder what Mission #10 is)

Then to perform it took another 15-30 minutes, then I thought I got the hang of it, went into an Arcade game, tried 3-5 times on very hard difficulty characters, either I was blocked and punished for it, or got 1/3 of the way there, but 1 button didn't connect, so it was stupid

I just played my style of either keep away or try to get burst shots in, 3-4 juicy combo's that really help you out

I think this game has some of the problems that SC4 has online, which is keeping the button presses and movement in the buffer.

SC4 is way worse of course (it's unplayable), but in that game, when you would like hit kick, it would come out like a second later.

In MVC3 in my 2 days of playing, does this some times. Like with Haggar, I'd hit Hard attack in the air and it doesn't come out sometimes, then when I hit the ground, the dumb sweep comes out.

Does it with movements too it seems. I never really had this problem with SSF4, but I have seen it way more in marvel3.

I haven't really had a super smooth match yet to be honest.

I agree sc4 was a wreck but somehow I still played it online like a fiend. Same thing is going to happen with this game. Also in SC4 I play astaroth.

Heh... that Wolverine combo is pretty basic, honestly.

You generally will get into the mindset of compartmentalizing ground and air combo strings. For example, the M, M, H, S sequence once they're airborn is a generic air combo for many/most characters.

Man, SC4 online drove me too crazy. It got me too mad. I wanted it to work so much, because I loved and played SC2 and SC3 so much. Then SC4 died out in SoCal really.

I'll keep playing Marvel3 of course, hehe. Capcom still has better netcode than Namco any day (imo).

I don't know if it will help you but I alway's break the combo in half and learn it that way, so if I was doing that I would try;

L, M, L, H, S

S, M, M, H, S

And then combine them when I can do both parts and I wouldn't try implementing some of the latter mission combo's into your real games because they're probably overly complicated and just aren't worth it.

Iron Man.

Doom.

Sentinel.

Team Stealth Metal.

This was the flavor of the day in all black/grey today, and it was wrecking house even though I don't have everything 100% down yet - Doom is the only hole in the team being the only one I can't OTG into super right away with, but I do that from launcher into super just fine.

And shit, his win quotes are just so boss - "The applause for Doom begins now - the first to stop dies" or something to that effect is my favorite so far.

I don't wanna say I'm dropping SHe-Hulk completely, but her run move has to have a faster way to be done, and the run-grab thing only lasts so long until enemies just end jumping for the majority of the match - I'm so out of touch with playing her that I forget to use her anti-air super for those kind of people, but yeah.
