Well, I did just beat him. I didn't do anything different, just managed to deal enough damage and get lucky I guess.

Thankfully, I switched to Phoenix right before the final blow, so I got her ending. I love her as a character, but THAT battle is NOT suited to her glass-cannon balance.

Oh, and whoever did the animation for Deadpool deserves an award and a raise.
 
So guys, some noob questions:

1. What is a "cheap" win?
2. How do you perform a crossover counter?
3. How do you perform a team aerial counter?
 
Just got my first rage message. Dude called me a fag because I ran away from him and got a time over victory during a player (not even ranked) match. Sent a message back to him calling him an ass and telling him his job is to hit me.

1. Winning by chip damage
2. Press forward + assist 1 or assist 2 while blocking
3. When someone tries to do a team aerial combo (which you perform by pressing a direction and Special while doing an air combo) press the direction they pressed + Special. Or you can do mash 360 and S if you think someone will do it.

The content is already on the disc. And you certainly don't need a pirated copy of the game to use her I think. Just do some hex editing or something :p.
 
Jill actually looks pretty decent.

I still wish they went with her STARS garb though. Even if it was done in the style that it was during the flashbacks in RE5 (or her STARS character model in Mercs).

I don't need cutesy, overly Japanese Jill, but brunette-with-a-beret Jill is just badass.

I hate that they wasted character spots on X-23 and, to a lesser extent, Trish.

X-23 is a good fighter, but there are more iconic Marvel characters that could be in there. Like a member of the Fantastic Four, or another member of the [New] Avengers.

Trish...I don't know, I guess I just think Dante is enough from that universe, especially if he gets an alternate costume of Sparda or Virgil.
 
Jill and Shuma-Gorath are both on the disc. She's missing most of her dialogue and tag in quotes. Link is in Youtube description. Straight from SRK.

Jill Valentine - In a Nutshell:
Her art assets are all there, for those curious. And yea, her moveset appears to be complete and in working order as well. Though before anyone cries out in anger at Capcom for placing DLC on the disc after knowing this, you might be very interested to know something else.. For one thing, although she has some voice work done and already on the disc, it appears as though she's still -missing- a good portion of dialogue. Namely, she's missing all of her tag-in vocals - she simply says nothing at the moment when she tags someone else in. Likewise it doesn't seem anyone else has any tag-in dialogue done for her either! Furthermore her assists are suspiciously quiet.. there's no ending taunt to them at all, barely even an audible grunt to them actually. In fact, a lot of her voice work is notably low-volume.. Her winning battle taunt is almost indecipherable, she mutters it so softly. Jill also appears to be missing any form of victory blurb at the end of battle.. Likewise, although her moveset is complete (as mentioned above) there do appear to be what I'd all balancing issues.. Her Machine Gun Hyper is a good example.. It's honestly just so horrifically terrible, that I have a hard time believing it's finished. If it's honestly done the way it is, then she'll probably have one of the worst hypers in the game in her arsenal. (Which isn't too flattering to say for a DLC character, is it?)

The long and short of it? She's incomplete. A lot of her assets are there, yes that's true.. But she's missing some stuff as well, and could use a bit of polish to match the quality of everyone else on the roster. So if you're paying for anything when you buy Jill in about a month.. It's for whatever labor went into polishing her character and finishing her dialogue after the game itself went gold. (Which to me, is pretty fair.)


As a side note.. I've actually gotten Shuma-Gorath working too. We'll post pictures of that in a couple of days, and add more commentary then. For now, enjoy the new pictures and info on Jill.

Was stuck on Wolverine 9 forever. Then I was mashing, and realized what a "rapid" berserker barrage was. Mind blown. Got the trial a minute later.

EDIT: I'd pay so much money to hear Ben Stein commentate a marvel match.
 
Not as good as mvc 2 but I'm really liking it. What's up with the online though? I have never found a ranked opponent. Always ends up saying connection lost with host.

From the post I read on SRK it sounded like she was a lot more incomplete than that. She looks fully working, minus tag vocals. I hate when the conetnt is on the disc and we get charged to access it. I would've been fine if she was more broken, like missing animations or textures but that looks fine to me.
 
Still having fun with this game. I'm gettin' better used to the execution.

I finished off Chun's missions. 10 was giving me trouble, but it turns out that slowing the air combo after the jump cancel helps you land faster, so that you can link L after AIR-S. Feelin' good. I thought I'd never be able to hit her jump cancels consistently...
 
Haha this game is so stupid at casual level. Some characters feel ridiculous and a game where you lose life even if you block is beyond retarded.

Still good party fun.
 
You know, one thing I really like about this game is that if you hit somebody with a throw or a "catch" type hyper just as time runs out, you still get the full damage of the move. I always hated that this wasn't the case in SF4 and TvC.

Doesn't apply for hypers that the opponent can fall out of, but that makes sense.

Can't believe people are whining about Galactus. Guy is silly easy, and I'm pretty terrible still. I'm fairly certain every other fighting game ever made has had a harder final boss. TvC's had five forms, didn't it?

Uh, pretty much all fighting games are like this? Blocking reduces damage, it doesn't nullify it. If blocking prevented all damage, you'd have people turtling for the entire match instead of actually engaging.

Dark Phoenix / Dormammu / Amatarasu

He waited till he had Dark Phoenix left once again, but this time I kept my sentinel in the background. My Wesker and Hulk got killed off pretty quick, but not before they killed Amatarasu and Dormammu :D

So it was dark phoenix with x-factor 3 against sentinel with x-factor 3

I owned him that time.

Her health is constantly decreasing when she enters Dark Phoenix mode. Between that and how easily she takes damage anyway, I usually just unleash a hyper combo and she's done.

I mainly use Dante and Ammy when fighting to build meter till I have 5 then play a bit more offensively. When I'm down to Phoenix I just teleport about, fireball and hit a bit until I get DP, then I Xfactor (to get the HP regen) and go crazy with some combos/fireballs. If Xfactor goes then I use healing shield to help keep my health up. Worst thing is if they save hypers for when I'm out of Xfactor then they beat her with chip damage due to her tiny hp.

It's a bit cheap but that's why I'm trying out all the other characters to see if I can get good with other characters.

I wouldn't mind if the had the original Eddie Brock Venom, the Mac Gargan Venom and the new Government Agent Venom as selectable costumes.

Eddie Brock will always be the REAL Venom to me. :D

Oh I've mainly played Tekken, Guilty Gear (which has a guard gauge, so you can't turtle forever) and Melee. It just seems retarded that when you have a little life left, the opponent can just spam super moves and chip away your health.

And now you have players spamming fast attacks with characters like Ammy and Zero in hopes of chipping the opponent to death. Or the fucking Sentinel spamming projectiles :DD

I'd love new venom over old venom. We've had Eddie's Venom in MvC2 and new Venom would be cool I think. Also, I think if Eddie Brock was to be in I'd like him to be in as Anti-Venom.

Neither of the new Venoms are as cool as the original IMO. Neither in look or character. But any Venom is better than no Venom.

As for Anti-Venom, have they done anything with that character since his origin story?!
 
Daredevil and Ghost Rider would be so baller.

Anyways I think the inclusion of x-23 is kinda lame but she's quick as fuck and good fighter. I don't like/can't play with Trish though.

Sentinel projectile spam is nowhere near as annoying as arthur projectile spam.

Well not everyone thinks this is a good idea, one camp likes the game how it is, but another one finds a lot of things extremely cheap and broken... I started playing online and boy is the x factor becoming a salt factor lol ;p!
 
Both Jill's hypers are incomplete, especially the gun one (it hits like one cycle and stops, most normals do more damage than that shit).

About the only thing exciting about Jill are her stance and that LVL3 which is like a "limit releaser" on her stance and dashes. Her movelist could've been given to dozens of other characters from both Capcom or Marvel like this style of play would work fine for someone like Daredevil if you just add the Nunchuks instead of the barefists and gun super.

And why do we have people asking for Human Torch when we have both Phoenix AND Super Skrull in this game who essentially amount to the same thing?
 
I'd love to see Angel (with an Archangel transformation being hyper) in the future. Fuck those bemoaning the idea of adding more X-Men.

Yeah obviously. This game is a good party game for me, but I can't see myself bothering to learn it properly. Maybe my eyes are getting old, but the characters, effects and background blend way too much :b

And Sentinel is a fucking bitch.

Yeah talking about dante combos... they seems a bit overblown compared to the rest of the cast, I can understand they wanted to make him look stylish, but at least the damage should be a lot lower. An insta kill in a fighting game is really retarded! Made me think of Killer instinct in a bad way...
 
X-Factor Devil Trigger Dante is a bitch's bitch. My brother also has an incredibly annoying strategy of never switching characters out, so Dante always regens to full health within seconds of effortlessly slaughtering my third-health team.
 
Dante's combos are rarely 100% unless X factor or more than 1 hyper meter are involved, which is really par for the course in this game.

Dante is affected the most by damage scaling in the game, as a lot of his moves are multi-hitting. I saw this one match where Dante did a combo spanning like 12-15 of his special moves including Devil Trigger moves and that did about as much damage as Haggar's BnB pipe combo (although Dante was doing it to Haggar and Haggar to Dante so there is some damage/health differential there).

Insta-kill in a fighting game would be broken if it's 1v1. This is 3v3 and with tagging out + X Factor you can heal characters. You have to get into a combo many times to lose the fight. If the damage was any lower in this game then there would be a lot of time outs.
