so alright last night i saw the true ultimate power of modok.

so i roast this dude with my boy magneto and then run into him again on ranked. he picks modok, doom and someone else that i forget cuz i didnt get past modok.

he goes fullscreen right away, puts up a barrier, starts shootin beamz and calling doom missiles. he did this constantly and I couldnt get past it. so funny. I felt like such an idiot but not sure how to counter it right now.

one other match was funny too. this one guy ended up killin off my boy magneto just as i called iron man off screen. random ass uni beam comes out of nowhere and kills him. haha

This.

I hate it this game allows lame strats to actually be effective. In most games he would have had his ass handed to him in a basket.

well to be fair if i started akuma and just built up meter i could have just hyper beamed doom and modok to death but at the time I wasnt thinking about doing that. haha

I LOVE THIS GAME

Just stick with it guys. I'm raging online every now and then but every time I go back to training I'm getting better and better. I'm at level 6-8 with most characters now. I love the fact that everyone is actually fun to play.

air dashes maybe?

but again, this is a prime reason why I never leave home without a character than can teleport. or at least someone with a super fast airdash.

Domma...whatever the name of the dude with the head on fire. those vortex/black hole things would calm that bullshit down in a hurry. oh...and maybe Cap's shield? I understand that is no respecter of projectiles. how about a super that can close the gap and allow you to rush him down quickly?

otherwise, I can imagine you might have some trouble.

yeah like i was saying if i killed his doom off first then moved in it wouldnt be as bad, but you know, one match, half of it im just laughing trying to figure wtf is happening.

most people i play online just go in, mash hella buttons, wasnt used to someone running away and going full screen

lol. I feel you. It'd probably take me a minute to mentally adjust my gameplan too.

can a projectile shot (like Modok's laser thing) stop a charging super (like Wolverine's super rush)? if so, then the list of possible options gets small indeed.

since I usually go with something like Phoenix / Storm / Thor. In my case, I could go with Phoenix's teleport and destroy. With Storm I'd probably try to do the ice storm then rush him down before he wakes up. With Thor...I'd be in trouble. lol.

Hulk would be nice in that scenario: Gamma Crush and all that. Or Amma with that full-screen super. And anyone with a teleport ability.

just thinking in real-time. could be that none of those work. lol.

Out of curiosity, why Shadow Blade instead of Dark Harmonizer? Is it really more useful than a meter boost?

I've been experimenting with Morrigan lately but I haven't decided if I want to stick with her or not. Usually I just abuse the hell out of Astral Vision.

Astral vision is the sweet spot. :)

I haven't tried dark harmonizer with her yet because I'm afraid of her getting bodied while using it... at least with shadow blade or even soul fist, she's attacking so she's not just waiting to get nailed.

Square Triangle, add me if you like. I'm average to decent and would be willing to try to help you out.

It's one thing to see shit happen in videos, but it's another to witness it first hand. My Disruptor got ran through by an angry X-23's hyper. :( I had no idea that shit had that type of invincibility... lol

Her meter assist has almost no vulnerable time.

I will have to try to work this in. More meter for Dante or Dorm would be swanky.
Thanks.

I'll be on later tonight for a little bit, Ferrio. Anyone who wants to add me (PSN), feel free. Just throw a GAF and MvC3 in the request so I know who you are. :)

I was actually messing with her as a potentially 3rd in my D/D team -- tried having her on point, using DFH and then switching out so I could have invulnerable pendulum swing... I wouldn't totally feeling it though. :|

GGs Tekno

That Skrull got some mad trickz D:

Also, my Iron Man is super free, I keep doing cr H (missile) when I always mean to do st H...

Yeah, more Taskmasters, just what I need.

"SPIDEY SWING, SPIDEY SWING, SPIDEY SWING"

It's kinda ridiculous that I hear 100% from him and 0% from spiderman, rofl.

Ok, I think I have my 3 reserve teams settled.

Dante, Wolverine, Iron Man

Dante, Wolverine, Morrigan

Deadpool, Spiderman, Zero

Still learning a bunch of characters though.

I've been playing the game almost non-stop since Friday and I'm absolutely in love. I'm really enjoying my Amaterasu, Viewtiful Joe, and M.O.D.O.K team, and I can't get over just how wonderful the game looks in motion. The ranked matches only work occasionally (360 version), but I can get into a match in about 20 seconds or less whenever I hop into Arcade mode.

I wasn't surprised to see a ton of Dantes and Deadpools online, but seeing every other person I fight pick Ryu is odd. I guess he still holds a ton of appeal even in the context of a crazy game like this.

How "casual" friendly is this game? I played it a bit at Best Buy today, and it was pretty fun, though I am not a serious fighting game player-in fact, I largely suck at them. I wouldn't go online at all, just mostly local MP messing around with friends. Worth it?

It's very, very casual friendly for local MP with friends.

As long as you got people playing with you thats all that matters.

Wow there are some really cheap players online... I can't stand the damn delay :(
I don't entirely subscribe to the idea of "cheap wins", but I agree there are a lot of people who manage to take the fun out of playing with their tactics. Projectile spammers in particular grate on my nerves, though when I get frustrated it's usually because I know I'm not good enough (yet) to punish stuff like that. Played against a dude a bit earlier who pretty much gave me the NerdJosh treatmeant and relied on Arthur's arrows exclusively while forcing me to chase him all around the damn screen. I managed to get in and kill him using Wesker's teleports and projectile counter, but I wasn't enjoying myself the entire match. Not even after I won.

I still love this game to death, though. :)

MVC3 is not casual friendly at all.
i am a very experienced street fighter player. MVC3 is my first Marvel vs game, and I had a hard time picking it up. I even had hard time to beat the arcade mode on normal difficulty.
I can't imagine how a people with less to none street fighter experience could play this game and not get frustrated.

PS: you will never beat the game if you just mashing the buttons

I say MVC3 is even more complex than SF4 and even more n00b unfriendly

I really like Arthur as a character and how he looks in this game, plus I dig how he can throw out like a billion different kinds of things. But actually playing as him and winning against someone who can't get past the projectiles makes me feel bad so I don't play as him. I think it's because it feels like tossing out those projectiles is easier to do than getting past them for lousy players like myself.
