Unless player A mentally rolls over and dies the instant they see X Factor, how the hell is player A at a disadvantage? They do in fact have more options than player B at that point, and more resources.

If player A can't hold on for 15 seconds, or match X Factor to X Factor, there's something seriously wrong... With player A.

If you come in on an x-factor 3 character with a good wavedash it's pretty much 50/50 if your character's going to die. X-factor's and an utterly unnecessary game mechanic.

It can be dealt with, but it's still a pile of shit.

xfactor on your second character then. The boost is good enough to deal with them by that time

I've found that X-factor doesn't really change things up too much. The good players still win and mistakes are still punished. It's only proven itself useful in a few instances, but it doesn't stand out otherwise.

After fiddling around in arcade mode I also discovered the characters bios. It's pretty cool to see the bio along with strength rankings in this game. I'd love to see Capcom expand on that.

Do you think the X-factor mechanic as it is is well thought out?

We know there are ways to "deal with it". The argument is about the merits of the gameplay design mechanic itself.

The mechanic would be fine if they cut the speed and power boost of it in half or just made it give a speed boost to everyone and no powerboost
 
So what exactly was the fate of the two worlds? It seems to me that the portals are still open given the endings. They never even beat the actual bad guys.

since 99% of all normal moves (+lag) are safe online - how am i supposed to create a proper offense in this game full of mashing shitheads?

sure i can play keep away - but thats fun for me :(

am i missing something completely here or did capcom really fail big time.

Practice practice practice, and no 99% of all normal moves aren't safe online.

I've been studying this guide and the frame data really helps. Once you get better with execution and find a good team that suits your style you'll be able to keep up.

If you fight somebody who mashes then you need to be patient and counter and punish them.

Sentinel's air S, or Haggars pipe have really long recovery times, so be patient and wait for your opponent to make a mistake.

In the comic it says that the marvel villians were dimensionally contacted by Wesker to create a portal between the two worlds in order to do.. something, and in order to do that they had to lure Galactus and syphon power from his worldship.

So then the portals opened and the two groups are like SHIT WE'RE BEING INVADED and it's all marvel vs capcom time when suddenly galactus and the baddies show up and they're like WOOPS THERE"S THE BADGUYS and then they go beat galactus and.. ending?

You are still dead if they touch you, especially with Sentinel (he barely has to complete a basic combo to take out high health characters). 20 seconds is like a 1/5 of the match. People saying run away are retarded when he has great mobility, range and a speed boost. I have no problem with Sentinel normally, outside of the fact that everything is so simplified with him. So little variety.

At least Phoenix has some requirement for going SNK boss (which no one takes advantage of cause no one snapbacks.)

I'd say it would be better if they just totally cut the speed boost. Like I've said 18 times my major issue is coming in on an opponent who's level 3 and wavedashing as though they were Speedy Gonzales. If it were just a matter of power/chip then you'd be alright with getting away from it, but it's still pretty stupid.

I fucking loath Skrulls grab right now, it's pretty much exactly the same as Haggars appart from it goes across half the screen and he can hit a super off of it :(

I'm curious if you rank up faster facing opponents of greater rank. I'm around 360-40 and stuck 3 quarters in to 3rd Lord still.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding the third person for my team. So far I seem to be doing decently well with X-23 (quick, good rushdown) paired with Iron Man for a projectile assist, but after that I'm lost. Who is a decent pick for an anti-air assist? I played Sentinel a lot in MvC2, but I don't really want to go down that path in this game.
 
I wonder how the game would have turned out if xf had choices: speed at the cost of power, power at the cost of speed.

And if they had a burst like mechanic.

I think zero has the best AA assist when you have his hyper activated, you might want to give him ago. X's OTG assist should help him as well.

Shame he doesnt have an armored launcher, fast wavedash, flight and a full screen normal that does insane chip when lvl 3 xf.

But all Sentinels will stick to the corner and let you lock them down.

Im using arthur (bottle assist) morrigan (meter boosting assist) and thor (mighty strike). Id like to say I try to do a keepaway game and switch out to Thor for some change in pace, but that would mean im actually decent at the game. I'd appreciate some advice for changes to this team, the most replacable is Thor. What do you guys think?

That's the way it seems to be. I had a Rank UP Battle against a guy who was 7th Lord, but I lost and didn't rank up. Didn't get another Rank UP Battle until several matches with lower ranked players later.

I thought so. Sucks hard even if you have matchmaking search running during training, and only get one fight every hour if you have Rank set to 'Same'.

Drop Thor and replace him with either a pure rushdown character like Dante, Wolverine etc. If you want to get in there and wreck your enemy, and use Morrigan to build meter and Arthurs assist as good cover for that, then switch to keepaway with Arthur when your rushdown guy gets killed

Or switch Thor to a pure keepaway character and go full keepaway.

Or replace Thor with Sentinel
 
I'm so pissed. I was on a 9 win streak and I get matched up against a 7th Lord with 130+ fights, and I'd only had 10. I even used custom match to get people of my rank.

I was so close, too. I fucked up in the beginning and got my trish assist killed off the bat but I had him down to 20% of his last character and got caught in a dash by hail storm.
 
lol I'm actually worried that when they do balance patch, that they will fuck Sentinel over. I dont think he is a problem without a level 3.
