Ugh, any tips for Akuma Mission 7? I cannot get the timing of the launcher special move right. For reference the combo is;

Crouching L, Crouching M, Crouching H, Tatsumaki H, S, Air M, Air H, Air Tatsumaki L, Tenma-Gozanku

I did this yesterday. You have to wait until the very last hit of the tatsu. It's a pain in the ass finding the correct timing.

Man. This game would be SUCH an easy Platinum if not for that damn 320 mission trophy. Argh. Well, and the First Class trophy I suppose, since that one's going to be damn near impossible to get for quite some time.

Hate to break it to you guys thinking that they faced Simple Mode users, but if what Seth said a month ago still holds true, Simple Mode users are only matched up with other Simple Mode users in Ranked.

Um, but you don't have the option of choosing simple mode until after you've been matched? ...so how exactly would that work?

It's annoying that I just got Hsien-Ko after playing some matches with a gaffer.

Oh, and what is up the PS3 and this game. I play ranked and they're pathetic as hell. I felt kind of bad playing with them. The framerate is terrible, the players are bad and the game freezes for several seconds at a time. Shit is terrible.

I can't see myself playing the game seriously with this kind of slowdown.

So that doesn't apply to player matches? I had no idea.

Lag is lag man. Don't know what to tell you.

No. It's pretty amazingly obvious when someone's got Simple Mode on.

Does the guide have any Sentinel strats we arent seeing?

You mean other than use xfactor, use h and d.h from full screen, then spam HSF, and use random air combo into rocket punch L followed by HSF and the energy ball super? :X

Oh yeah, I forgot you can still leave that as a choice, I turned that off permanently right away - well he must have meant when you keep it permanently on Simple Mode in the Options Menu...

MrMephistoX said:

Dunno about that since those are lobbies...

Man, if you have it set to "same ranked" in arcade mode - allow matches it should really make some attempt to, you know, do that.

I just had the laggiest match of my life.

I must be getting matched up with people halfway around the globe or something. The earlier stuff was ridiculous though. It was more like complete freezing mixed with frequent stuttering. I would place the blame on Capcom before the PS3 though.

I don't want to give the wrong impression that I'm biased.

The super jump ones like Haggar seem like they would only work if the Sent was like super dedicated to spamming and never attacked with anything else.

Oh and Charging Star can go through all 3 drones.
SJ to DAT Pipe will probably own sent even in the air because of its reach and it not extending haggars hit box.

If thats the case people should really not be taking the L against those people.

All the more reason not to feel guilty if you use (not spam) Sent effectively.

How's that? lol. First off, if people are choosing Simple Mode they're just doing themselves a disservice as they're limiting what they can do, and preventing themselves from getting better (though understandably of course some players have no interest in practice etc. and will only play once in a while). Second, why would you need to feel guilty about picking any character or playing in any manner that isn't downright hacking or otherwise exploitative? If you're presented with some new strategy that wrecks you, I'd hope that you'd WANT to figure out how to beat it, rather than cry about it on forums or make inane memes about it.

While I feel the same way Sentinel is being decried as much as Blanka in some circles. I'll admit I initially thought of taking him off my team so as not to come off like a douche but then I played a few spam maniac Dantes and came to my senses.

I see people are catching feelings in this thread.

Edit: this can go for both the sentinel apologists and the sentinel defense force. The truth of the matter is if you think he is perfectly fine you are out of your mind. If you think he is a game breaker you are also out of your mind. It is not that black or white its some ambiguous shade of grey.

Eh, you bring up a good point with Blanka. Online play does make certain strategies much more powerful due to latency.

Agreed, which is why I'm kind of surprised at the response to simple mode being allowed online here. While I do agree that it's dumb to allow simple mode in ranked play, it really shouldn't make a difference either way.

I went up against sentinel spam for the first time today and I feel like I have to do everything in my power to stop that shit. It's pretty bad and much worse than actually fighting him. I'm not going to freak out about it though.

After seeing how utterly free my Sent is to guys who know how to use Magneto or Wesker I feel no shame in using sent.

That and he's my anchor I only really use for assists so the people who would complain about him in ranked are quickly made work of with my Haggar/She-Hulk 50% mix-ups for 100% health after the first hit.

They like to bitch about the pipe though.

if you want taskmaster to do even more damage, you can call in assist after he shoots the downward arrow as he ends a combo. the arrow will bounce them up just enough for the assist to hit them. works great with something like chun's LL or skrull tenderizer

I swear sitting in training mode only helps me do combos in training mode (especially with Iron Man). Actually match it's full-on "mash buttons and hope things combo" panic-mode. Ugh. I'll persevere though.

thats what arcade mode is for, practicing your combos at full speed.

I pretty much use him in the same fashion unless the other player is spamming the same shit over and over again. Chun and Hsien-Ko pave the way.

Hm. Thinking about trying out an all-Darkstalkers team. Is such a team particularly viable? All three DS characters seem to be fairly low on life, and Morrigan's diagonal dash always screws with me, but otherwise they SEEM to be a decent enough team from what I can tell from messing around with them in Training Mode.

From my limited messing with felicia, I think she sucks hardcore.

If you're not trying to win tournaments, anything's "viable" (and if you are, this may still be true if you really put in the practice). So I don't see any reason not to if you like the characters.

Well, it's not so much that I particularly like the characters (I mean, I DO, but that's not really the reason I want to use them). I just kinda want to get out of my Cap/Spencer/Magneto/Haggar/Joe comfort zone and try a new team. I'm just having some trouble deciding on who to try out.

A kick option would be horrible in this game. The amount of people who would abuse it would outweigh the benefits.
Fine I don't mind people abusing it but it sucks when you make a two person lobby and someone is missing in action and sits in the lobby. You have to create another one. A kick option is a must for lobbie based games.

You just don't know.

Linking Cat Spike L into itself is an infinite on every character in XF2/XF3. She has an OTG command normal that can be followed off of her command throw and jump-canceled. Kitty Helper destroys fools who you can pin down, and if they prefer to run away it gives you time to call Morrigan's meter assist 5 times before Kitty Helper expires.

Well if nothing else Morrigan and Hsien Ko are good for figuring out how to stream faster combos together. Felicia is great just for her little helper to annoy the other player with, but I rather use her with Trish's trap assists.

Still, go for what I've done. Random can be your friend when you want to figure out teams. It'll force you to change things up. Then once you have an idea on one or two of them, you can go for a team.

If that isn't viable for you, look at your license and see your stats. What type of game are you generally playing, what it says you focus on, which characters are you barely playing?
--------------------

You don't need Arcade mode. Just use Training mode and turn CPU to Very Hard. All the practice you need for full speed.

Wouldn't felicia be better for this than those two....
That's what I was thinking too, I looked up some of her high damage BnB's on srk and can't nail them yet - cancelling the toybox into roll then srk slash move is tricky and there other parts with strict timing too, while I progressed quite quickly with Morrigan and X-23.

Meant Felicia and Hsien Ko. Typo on my part. Also more for his play style, since he and I play often online.

Yeah remember i said i just started playing online yesterday? Well today i had my first encounter with Sentinal, the guy was decent i guess but i had no clue on what to do LOL. My goal is to learn how to fuck Sentinal up. Even though he beat me the six times we played i never get too angry as i would in SSF4.

Whoa, I just killed someone's assist 100% with Dormammu's dark pillars. He was trying to lame it out with Sentinel at full screen and called in an X-23 assist for some reason. She bounced 5 times and died from full health. :lol

He probably could have used something to stop me but he just stood there blocking.

I like to throw in command grabs when I know people are blocking on jump-ins in hope of punishing S :D

MIGHTY SMASH
MIGHTY HURRICANE
MIGHTY SMASH
MIGHTY SMASH
MIGHTY TORNADO

...and your favorite character is dead. :-)

execution on that 100% combo is right around 90% for me after todays' workout.
