I like Dante and I also like Wolvy.

But if I use Wolvy he's gotta be my point man because I am not comfortable with his assist.

However I am very comfortable with jam session.

Need a third, maybe Hagger or sentinel?

What about Dante, Hagger, Sentinel?

God I love wolverine.

What's good about Magneto?

Have you listened to the Ghosts N' Goblins stage music??

Sounds like some shit right out of a Tim Burton film, fucking fantastic.

This is the first time Capcom has let another company work with MT Framework. This is pretty big.

As far as I can tell, Eighting has always had some pretty hot programmers; guys who are into the whole old-school Japanese game craftsmanship.

They were always able to wring impressive performance out of the PS1 and PS2 with games like Bloody Roar. 60fps or bust.

Their work on Castlevania Judgement for the Wii was mediocre (30fps) but I attribute that to typically horrible project management from Konami's Castlevania slums and a low budget / short dev cycle.

Then they tore it up on the Wii with Tatsunoko vs Capcom, pure Eighting quality all the way.

And clearly, MvC3 shows they have zen-like modelers and can make MT Framework run like a champ.

Man I'm listening to all the character themes on YouTube, this game has some great music! So glad they remixed some of themes from MvC3.

Mega Man Zero and Ryu themes are HOT

Geez, everytime I'm about to get the "Win 5 Ratch Matches in a Row" trophy I get destroyed by someone way out of my league despite the fact that it's suppose to match me with people of my skill level. I hit a 4 winstreak, and then I fight a 9th Lord using Sentinel/Dante/Wesker. Got wrecked hard. Stupid, broken Custom Search...
You'll get it eventually. If it's like the 10 in a row achievement for SF4, you will JUST miss it a bunch of times but then you just get it when you aren't trying.

Liverpool to Europe is not so hot, unfortunately.

I don't know if it's the net code or router issues but the quality of online on this game seems really random. I've been perfectly smooth with US players and yet have suffered a few lag-spikes against people who live in the UK, despite that not being an issue in any other game with them.

The composer is Hideyuki Fukasawa, aka "The Modern Sound of Fighting Capcom" lol.

Music is subjective so one man's ceiling is another man's floor; plenty of people hate on Fukasawa's "dance shit", though personally I love the guy's work to bits. I think nostalgia goggles are clouding people's vision 'cause Fukasawa is paying huge tribute to Japanese game chip tunes and 90s electronic music with all his work. He's just updating the production values with some contemporary sounds.

MvC3's character themes are like a love letter to the CPS2 age, but not a slavish recreation or imitation. There's a bit of a difference.

So I've only played a bit of mission mode and this by far seems like the fastest fighting game I have ever played. I'm going to get murdered with my old man reactions. Also I must be hitting the buttons too slow because I can't magic series. I had the same problem with guy and Ibuki and dudley's TCs in SSFIV.

Dude, I've seen you mention your old man reactions before. You better not be a day over 30 35 if you're saying this sort of stuff, man...

So LeiLei's assist seems to work fairly well with my two other teammates (She Hulk/Ironman) other than just being badass on it's own. It set's up for relaunchs in the corner for both of them, and looks like it can relaunch fullscreen with shehulk (timing is *very* fickle though). For both characters in the corner after the knockdown, call in LeiLei, then go into shehulk's torpedo, or ironman's LP smart bomb. Leilei then will juggle them long enough for you to recover and relaunch.

Way to make me feel old.

I hate Dormammu's purification towers. They seem so superfluous. Slower startup and recovery than Dark hole, less damage, can't be used in the air, much harder hit confirm, fewer active frames. Only advantage is that they OTG and they have better advantage on hit.

I wish that they had half the damage and startup time, and could be done in the air instead of dark hole.

I've also changed my mind about Dormammu and fireball wars. His normals straight-up nullify projectiles, which pretty much changes everything about him.

Uh, dude my bad...

Lemme fix that.

Perhaps your excitement over getting the trophy is ruining your 5th match? Sometimes your brain fumbles when you need it most! I know that when I am learning a new combo, the first time I almost succeed is the time I am guaranteed to drop it, because I get so hyped that I finally pulled the darn thing off.

First, I would scream like a little girl if Dormammu could use Purification in the air, but then that's probably all we would do with him in some matches, because it would be just that good.

I used to primarily use Dark Hole, but I have become a Purification convert. Yes, it's slower startup and less damage, but the damage difference is 1,900 on two moves that hit around 120,000 - it's not really a significant difference. Plus, as you said, a successful Purification guaranteed another Purification, even if it's blocked, so in practice it tends to be at least a 160,000 move. The startup difference is a whole 6 frames; less is nice, but it's not like the difference makes Purification bad.

More importantly, you said what Purification does when it hits, but what happens with Dark Hole? Unless you cancel into Chaotic Flame (don't all Dormammu players wish we had the meter for this every time), Dark Hole puts your opponent into a recoverable knockout. In other words, they can roll toward you and gain free distance, something Purification does not allow. At close ranges, Dark Hole can be an open invitation from you.

I don't know about you, but most of my opponents take to superjumping in on Dormammu. I rarely have people rush along the horizontal plane, because I have it covered by Sentinel Force already. If I didn't have Purification, I would just have to run from superjumps. Lastly, this is obviously a very minor bonus, but Purification incurs less damage scaling.

I was crazy lucky to get five totally new folks right after I picked up the game. I started out my ranked career with one loss, then I nabbed the five win streak with games 2-6 and now I've settled back into a normal routine of about 45% wins. Sure as heck glad that I got it early, since the longer the game is out the more the matchmaking tiers firm up and most folks that are not either at the very bottom of skill or the very top of skill should settle into about a 50% win rate range somewhere. And if you are playing at a 50% win rate your chances of winning 5 in a row are what, about 3.125% (been a while since statistics class).

This.

Though, I haven't played with the nullification normals yet. I started using Sent in place of Dormammu when I pulled Wesker into the 3rd slot because the sent force charge assist is great for Wesker's teleport mixups.

I haven't tested out the normals yet, but can they negate beams like Iron Man's unibeam or Doom's beam?

Wtf...why is this game not saving my progress(I go to the main menu for it to autosave everytime I turn the game off). I did a shit load of missions the other day, now I come back and today and none of them I did then are counted anymore.

Yes, but it takes practice. You can negate ANY low or medium priority projectile in the game. All of Dormammu's medium and hard normals, and his launcher, negate projectiles.

Oh, well. Having a ton of fun with my scrubby Deadpool/Super Skrull/Hsien-Ko team regardless. Anyon looking for some matches today, feel free to add.

PSN: SykoTech

Shit, that might've been me. Sorry if it was. :|
I do recall fighting someone with 4 win streak yesterday and my current ranked team is what you mention.

The way the game is currently pairing people is strange. I've had it throw me up against 4th Lords before and I'm still a 9th lord. I can understand pairing me against 7,8,9 lords and fighters (1 rank below, 3 above) but the system seems arbitrary at the moment.

Seconded about MvC3's version of Zero's theme being awesome. Actually every character theme in the game is top notch stuff to fight to. Glad the game defaults to using classic mode for the music...dont want people to miss out :P

EDIT: Wait Dormammu can negate projectiles? How about Arthur's shield? Does it reflect projectiles or just block them?

I'll be a regular! I've had the Chatroom saved on my lists for about a week and finally getting the game today. Woo

I'm usually only on for 20 minutes playing ranked every time, so I haven't been popping into the chatroom looking for matches.

Yeah, I read that in the guide, but I'm still not know what classifies projectiles as low med or high... I'm guessing high = beam hypers?
The guide states the priority of every projectile in that projectile's notes section. In general though, high = hypers, medium = special attacks (Gold Armor Arthur Lances), low = basic projectiles (Hadoken).

Yeah, it's really weird. I'm a 6th Lord right now, and even with Rank set to "Same", I fought a Fighter with a 10-11 record last night.

Does PSN allow you to be in multiple channels simultaneously? I'd probably hang out in there if so; I am open to an invitation.

I thought Arthur's shield just staggers opponents on hit - does it also reflect projectiles or something?

I mean the move where he sticks the shield in the ground. Would be awesome if the shield swing could bat back projectiles though :P

Oh and is there any way to deal with projectile spammers when playing with Viewtiful Joe?

Got my first rage quitter, he couldnt handle the crack pipe. haha. 12-0 right now on PSN.

My longest win streak is 32 wins in a row or something like that. I love this fucking game. Wesker is godlike and I'm still a scrub right now. I got a ragequitter yesterday. We were playing and the dude seriously started pissing me off with projectile spam, so I picked Wesker and destroyed his ass. He then quit and told me that I was spamming teleports. I laughed.

Oh, I don't think that move has any effect against projectiles, but I don't play Arthur; the guide doesn't list anything.

I also don't play Viewtiful Joe, but I know he has two air dashes and a triple jump. If you add in his small size, he's one of the most mobile non-teleporters in the game, and it shouldn't be too tough to get in with a Red Hot Kick. His Voomerangs also all do funky stuff when charged, and I know one of them likes to go straight down from his jumping position. Maybe try charging the downward Voomerang and then follow it up with a Red Hot Kick?

Had no idea he could do a triple jump, also i'll give some Voomerang tricks a shot.

Does Desk play in tournaments? I can't see why he wouldn't be one of the best

Execution is only one part of being good, especially in this game. With the increased damage levels, defense, rushdown, and basics are far more important I'd say.

My record in ranked matches is doing some weird shit...displaying 100 less wins then i have prematch then the correct record afterwards...
