Bit late to the party on this one but has Capcom commented on whether or not shadow mode is going to be paid dlc? The most up to date info I can find on it is ironically a NeoGaf thread.

For some reason, I was under the impression that Shadow Mode was going to be bundled with the costume pack releasing on tuesday for $5. But I could just be pulling that out of my ass.

Also, I think someone mentioned that DLC characters are often frowned upon at tournaments, how will this affect Jill/Shuma and future DLC characters in competitive play?

As long as there is enough time for people to understand the characters, they will be at almost every tournament. If there was a big tournament coming up, and the dlc characters got release the day before, they will most likely be banned.

This is Capcom. If Shadow Mode was free, they'd let you know by jocking about how FREE it was (which they haven't) like they did with the SF4 Tournament patch. So yeah, expect it to cost some cash.

Oh, cool. I think the person was actually referring to console exclusive characters, I think those are almost always permanently banned from tourneys.

Oh ya. They are for the most part. If Kratos is in MK9, and is exclusive, he will most likely be banned.

You can use it now. I used mine and like it quite a bit.

Hmm, I'm stuck on the register screen. I've entered all the required fields but it just puts me back into the info screen as if missed something. Not entering my credit card info (but it doesn't require that at least that's what it indicates).

I'll say it again. There is only one, true Venom:

Any of the other versions can be alternate costumes.

There can be only one! I didn't vote for him in the poll (he's obviously a fan favorite so better lend support to Gobby and Dr. Strange) but I wouldn't exactly be upset if Eddy Brock made it in.

Cancer addled Anti-Venom though? Sheesh an alt at best and give that generic commando type variant alt to Dead Pool.

The difference being the content being delivered over time as opposed to in a package, so instead of watching the announce trailer of Super whatever and waiting a year, you can watch a trailer for an upcoming character, then download them at the end of that month, then watch the one for the next character. Constant hype and a game that always feels fresh and new.
Meh. Give me one big $40 update with a dozen new characters, a half dozen new stages, balance tweaks, and fixes for all the online shit that is missing (lag bars, spectator mode, better matchmaking all around, rematches in ranked and lobby matches, infinitive time, etc), rather than nickel and diming us at $5 a pop for every new character. 6 DLC characters + some stages and you are likely already at $40, and you're getting less content than you would've gotten with a retail update. Paying more for less? No thank you!

I don't think the game is going to feel fresh and new each time a couple characters or a stage are announced, it's just going to be the same flawed game with a couple new characters. In my opinion, it would take a heavily loaded feature patch to make the game feel fresh and new.

It really doesn't at all.

Nah, it's a definite downgrade from MVC2. I don't see why good characters should be left out for obscure characters from relatively unknown/unpopular franchises just to fill some imaginary "balanced" roster quota. There would be no MVC without the X-men or Street Fighter, some of you would do well to remember that.

I feel exactly the opposite but to each his own. You'll probably get what you're looking for 9 months or a year down the line if Capcom is smart about it. SSFIV sold a lot worse than SFIV and fragmented the fanbase. Assuming Capcom simply slap all the DLC onto a disc later on down the road like most western companies have been doing this gen gradual DLC and a GOTY edition is a very smart business decision.

Nickel and dime? It's not like Capcom is a utility or an insurance company literally taking advantage of a basic need and milking you for your hard earned dollars because you have no choice: it's a game and if some of us don't mind paying for content that infinitely extends it's shelf life. This isn't necessarily directed at you but enough with the anti-DLC lectures. Capcom isn't forcing your hand on anything and all the bitching in the world won't stop them from following this strategy. Vote with your dollars.

Imagine the "Cannot Connect to Player: Player does not have DLC" messages.

What other streams are going on right now?

And there are both X-men and Street Fighter characters in this game, but it is called Marvel vs Capcom. Perhaps you would do well to remember that.

What's the difference? Add spec mode, 16 new characters and a balance patch and you're good to go.

They do that and I will be extremely happy! Btw Akuma and wesker are a force to be reckon...

Btw whats wesker best bet to continu a combo after his otg samurai edge?

Crouching Medium seems to work well.

Not going to lie, on most days I have more fun watching streams than actually playing. I guess I just have to appreciate that I'm going to get crapped on a lot in this game, rofl. :P

Considering I said there weren't enough X-Men or SF, your response is quite pointless.

There are 7 in the game already, not counting Magneto and Sentinel. That is approaching 1/4th of the entire roster. The game doesn't need any more of them.

I need more shotos...give me more shotos!

This game is hilariously random. Just goofing off in Player Matches with a couple of friends on random select all night, and we keep finding some new and incredibly infuriating way to dismantle each others' teams. First night: Phoenix. Second night: Taskmaster. Third night: Chun-Li and her goddamn thunder thighs. It's a new flavor of cheese every night. We just can't take this game seriously at all, but it's fun (for now).
