Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I forgot to bring that up in this thread, even though I made a topic for it lol. The news has been spun as good and bad, so I'm curious what is in store.

On one hand he could be lying. You don't reveal anything like that from an interview, and he in particular has lied about stuff just to keep up the illusion.

But on the other, maybe capcom higher just really doesn't want DC and just this lone producer is the only one holding onto hope.

Regardless of what plans are. She needs to be in the game.

How do you do the infinite sign?

That moment when you realize that we have more posts than the Injustice 2 thread with less than a quarter of the info.

The thirst is real.

This getting worst than waiting for Baiken.

Hopefully there will be some meaty info or a full match vídeo in the next announcement

They should've settled on MvC4. MvCi makes it seem like a reboot or spin-off. The former might even be the case since the base roster will most likely be missing iconic series' regulars like Sentinel.

Didn't Capcom said something about it being kinda a reboot?
Maybe I'm wrong cause it's the logical thing to suppose hahah

Possibly. 2v2, no assists, gems, no Fox. Makes sense.

So would the next game be MvCi2, MvC4, or MvC5? :P

EDIT: Oh, and the other question is if this game is still Earth-30847 or a new MvC multiverse altogether.

It seems to me that it's gonna be whatever 'you' (the collective you) want it to be. Know what I mean?

I've set my expectations really high since it's being developed in house (Capcom) instead of farmed out by Dimps.

What makes you say this? I never got that impression.

Anyone worried about X-Men/Dr. Doom inclusion shouldn't be since they'll make it in as DLC.
It's definitely watered down. Going from 3v3 AND assists to 2v2 and no assists is a major step down. There's no getting around this so it's good that they called it MVCI and not MVC4. It means that it's going back to previous Versus titles pre-MVC1 compared to being a direct sequel to Marvel 3.

Ah okay. But with all we know (very little) it's too early to say how it'll end up. I'm hoping it's gonna be crazy. With a name like Infinite... infinite possibilities?

There's enough different about Infinite that calling it watered down is unfair, I think.

That said, calling it Infinite as opposed to 4 was a smart move. It's a great title for several reasons:

- It's a reboot, with 2v2, new mechanics, MCU focus.
- References the Infinity Gems + Gauntlet, and also the upcoming 3rd and 4th Avengers movies.
- The whole ∞ = 8 thing, since the game is Capcom's 8th Marvel fighting game.

wait what?

:P

That is why this game will bomb

GameSpot's Randolph Ramsay did an interview with Bill Rosemann of Marvel Games about the potential for a shared game universe, the potential new stories, character availability, & Marvel Games' future. Though most of the interview is mostly the same (but somewhat insightful), the answer to this particular question is.....concerning.
Randolph Ramsay (GameSpot): Does Marvel Games have complete control of all your characters and IP? Or is a similar situation with film, in which certain studios have certain rights, and you won't see those characters cross over?

Bill Rosemann (Marvel Games): I would say that there are some characters that are available, and some characters that are not.
Hopefully this is referring to certain devs not having access to certain characters. And even then, I'd be concerned for how this would pan out for Capcom.

Does that mean Sony and Capcom could be competing for Spider-Man characters?

I wish it WAS more different than just 2v2 Marvel 3 engine/character models/animations with a retooled, selectable X factor. As it is, it's definitely a watered down experience coming from Marvel 3, it's very hard to argue otherwise even with the given information.

My main hope for Marvel Infinite is that the characters are retooled more so that they have more options available to them. A lot of characters in Marvel 3 lacked in options because assists would cover their weaknesses and they would still be viable... this is not the case anymore. Putting Ryu in without significant retooling is going to be yet another Marvel game where Ryu sucks.

PAX is another event without information btw :3

whats the next hope stop?

Hmm, the shared universe stuff in this article is confusing. I assume they just want a consistent look for default characters, but if they can vary by context/incarnation/time period, I wonder if that will allow stuff like 90s Storm instead of the more modern versions, for example.
